It’s so hard to find a good hair stylist who actually looks out for their client. I am so glad I found Megan Rae! I had been going to a bother hair stylist and told her how I hate leaving with color on my face she would put the color blocker on but would not clean it up in time so I would leave the salon and not want to go out because the stain. Megan has totally changed that for me. Any time I get my hair done I am able to go out and enjoy clear of any color stain. Since this was her fist time coloring my hair she took the time to find a good color and bring out some of my natural tones out as well instead of just going with a dark color and calling it a day. She even did highlights which I was very unsure of but I love them. The vibe of the salon is very warm and inviting. Everyone is so nice including Sean who is in the back room. While I was getting my hair washed he engaging us with some very fun conversation. This is my new salon even though it’s way far from Orange County its defiantly worth the trip!

Unilocal reviews are so helpful. They help us find good food. They help to remove some of that unknown when we want to commit to trusting an establishment for the first time. I think hair salons has be the number one Unilocal search. Who wants to trust their HAIR to some would-be chemist who believes they can take your dark hair-and you want some caramel highlights-into the world of Ronald Mcdonald land and sell it to you that it looks«warm and autumn friendly» even after you’re blow dried? Yep. That was me. I have dark hair. I like to play around with different highlights during the seasons. I moved recently away from my incredible stylist and work is usually insane, so not 800 feet away from my home-many new salons. I decide that coloring hair can’t be that difficult! And I STRAY from my usual colorist. I go to RANDOMGIRL. I showed a picture of dark hair with some threads of this warm fall color on the ends. I said, «I like dark on top but blending out to this color(showed her pic) at the ends. I ended up looking like… a 1980’s Orange Frosted Queen. I almost wanted to go purchase some leg warmers and just make it work as some sort of homage to the glorious 80’s. But no. I was more traumatized than nostalgic. I paid RANDOMGIRL $ 280 to FRY my hair. MYROOTS were fried at the end of the visit. It was very traumatic because not only was my hair this effed up color that my BOSS called«PUMPKINSPICE!»(She said: wow, you’re so festive!)-it was also so dried and damaged. There are no words to describe the whole experience and honestly this review is getting too long. Bottom line: I called up Salon Lux and asked for Sean Levahn. The stylist who absolutely never failed me but who I took for granted! He is so in demand that that he saw me after hours. Because he heard how upset I was. And here I sit. Happy. Not a care in the world writing this review. He took a DISASTER and made it so beautiful again! I am so relieved. I didn’t expect it to be entirely fixed when I walked in salon. I have been traumatized by this latest event so I was okay with it just being not so «pumpkin spice» and more human-like. Sean made my hair amazing. I LOVEIT. He not only FIXED a DISASTER –there was no picture I could have brought in that mimicked what he did. It is that good. Do you like to color your hair? He is your new Hair Color God. Wait and see. Thank you for reading this. It is long, but… yeah. Hair is important!

I went in for a haircut in the middle of my trip to SLO. I’ve been to Aveda Salons before so I felt comfortable going to Salon Lux. I made an appointment the day before(pleasant phone call). When I arrived for my appointment I was instantly pleased with the environment(the hair dryers in the ceiling are so cool!) and went to check in. I went to the restroom, put on my robe(the button is in the front, don’t mess up and put it on backwards like me) and then met Natalie, my stylist. Natalie was fantastic. She really took her time, I’ve never had a stylist be so thorough on my hair. I was just getting a simple cut — some layers and a lot of thinning — but she treated it like a truly important project. My only problem is that I don’t live here! If I did, I’d see Natalie regularly in the Salon!

Service is friendly and professional, with great hair products. And it’s all set in a pleasant and modern salon. Convenient location too.

Megan does such an amazing job and is really good with my fine hair, which it is really hard to find a stylist who knows how to properly handle this hair type(or so, I have found this to be true). I have gotten my hair cut by her several times and she is the sweetest person and genuinely cares about her clients. I used to go to the Court Street location, but now go to the Broad Street location, which I love even more. I cannot say enough positive things about Salon Lux!

Megan Rae is the best hair stylist. I drive two and a half hours to get my hair done and it is well worth it. I don’t trust anyone but her to do my hair. She is excellent with color and she listens to exactly what I want with the cut and style I’m looking for. She never disappoints!

I am so pleased with Salon Luxe! I went in and was pleasantly greeted by Jade. She was an intern/assistant but you’d never know, she did a great job! Not to mention I had my baby with me and she worked around him! Definitely recommend!

Ugh ~ I fear writing this review in that Sean’s schedule may never be open again but I believe in sharing the love when warranted and so here goes. Let it be known to all who are fortunate and lucky enough to read this that you needn’t ever look any further for a beauty-maker other than here with Sean. Did I mention that he’s the most amazing hair artist I’ve ever had; well, he is! He majorally had to ‘fix’ my hair colored botch job from another local Aveda salon which will go unnamed because I’m too tickled pink to hold onto any grudge now that Sean saved the day! Sean comes though like a true master and commander that he is and what a job it was; never once did I question his ability, he instantly gives that«you’re in good hands now and I know exactly what to do», type-vibe and lived up to all my expectations(and that’s a lot, trust me!!). He is fussier than me; beyond perfectionism which I relish and you will reap all the benefits of his labour of love too. Sean told me before I left, «Get ready for all your compliments», and boy he must have a crystal ball or something b/c a handful of even mere strangers ask me where I had my hair done, and it is still less than a week’s time! My husband told me when I walked through the door, «This is the best color you’ve ever had», and every time I look in the mirror I’m thinking the exact same. Sean is a real gem and if you saw my before and after pics, you’d run not walk, to that phone right now & make your appointment with Sean!

I hired this Salon to do my hair for my wedding and they NEVERSHOWEDUP! I went to this Salon all the time when I lived in SLO and trusted them completely. I emailed the salon manager and stylist personally with pictures of how I wanted my hair to look, very simple down & curly was all I was going for, and she seemed so nice and helpful and said she would be there at 2pm on my wedding day and never showed! after calling the salon over a dozen times, emailing her, she just completely failed and luckily I have great bridesmaids who were able to rally and probably did a better job than this Salon would have. If you have anything important pending, do NOT go here, they will drop the ball. Hey at least I saved a couple hundred bucks I suppose. SO dissapointed after being a loyal customer for years.

I have been many times to the Court St location and loved it but am still trying to get used to the Broad St vibe… The interns seem to get their«mileage» at Broad Street, so they typically do at least half of my service when I am there. They seem skilled enough, just young… nice enough but not particularly hospitable. To make the experience better, I wish that they interns would introduce themselves to me when they come to do part of my service instead of just zooming in and doing whatever it was that they were just assigned. If an intern is starting my appointment, please offer me a beverage and make sure that I’m all settled in… that’s just hospitable and welcoming. I also wish that they were taught to give a wonderfully consistent head massage. The advanced stylists do, but the interns not so much and that is a big part of the experience. I also wish that the Senior Staff would survey clients about their experience with the interns… that would improve the interns training and also potentially allow us to follow an intern once they become a full fledged stylist. on the whole I like the salons very much, but the pricing structure is a bit vague — the more advanced the stylist, the higher the cost, but there is no directory of who’s who — that would really help me a lot since I’m feeling a bit disconnected during my visits…

Pros: stylist was nice. Cons: I went to Salon Lux because I had a coupon for a free brow wax and my roommate gets her haircut here. Apparently, both Salon Lux’s have the same phone number, so when I showed up, I was told my appt was at the salon on Court St. I didn’t have time to go down there, so they did wax my brows and lip at this one. I was quite disappointed. I have never had anything waxed where I was sitting. i have always laid down which I would think makes it easier and a better job is typically done. I was told that the spa with the lay down table is at the court st. location, so maybe they are able to do a better job? I knew almost right away that this was not going to be worth it because the it did not hurt at all when the wax was ripped off. I don’t know what kind of wax they use, but it does not get all the hair out. After being waxed, I had to go home and pluck everything that was missed(she missed a bunch on my lip also, but that hurts way too bad to pluck). Not only did she miss a ton of hairs and hardly trimmed the eyebrow hair, she got wax in my bangs, which she had clipped back! I don’t know how in the heck that could happen… Oh yea… and it’s quite expensive…$ 35 for a brow and lip…$ 20 for brows, $ 15 and just for the lip which took less than five minutes(which is what I paid). should have gone to Tigerlily…

LOVESALONLUX!!! I can’t believe this location hasn’t gotten a review yet! What the French Toast? I guess everyone migrates to the newer 2nd location down town now for the most part these days? Well I’m all about orignality and this is the original spot; however both are Aces in my book! Shoot I’ll get my hair did in their parking lot as long as Heather Johnson is on the job! She is my religeon when it comes to hair. And it pretty much is a religeous experience(I mean this in a good way)! From the soothing scalp massages, hip cuts and color jobs to things as simple as the décor, tunes playing in the background and unique locally made accesories sold as well. CAn’t forget all the AVEDA products they sell as well. Makeup, hair care and skin care to name a few… Always service with a smile from start to finish. I never want to get up and leave when my hair is done… No snobs here!
