Fantastic customer service and delicious food. Big portions and very flavorful. I ordered food for pick-up once and did not realize they were closing super soon after the call. They closed at 9 and I didn’t come till 9:30 to get it and the owner was outside locking up but waiting for us! Crazy customer service. The nicest people:)

Confused as to any good review here, just got take away lunch. Pads see ew, salty, chicken overcooked, sauce lacking flavor. Pad priking, undercooked green beans, soupy sauce, lacking any real flavor. Eggplant dish just horrible. It was really a lot of money for the tiny portions they give. Plus, they left out the soup… Not to return.

Pad Thai here is one of my favorites. Garlic pepper and Pad Eggplant are also great dishes as well! Very quiet area and the Thai Coffee is to die for.

The customer service is great but the food was a bit disappointing. It wasn’t bad per say I just feel as if something is missing. There’s nothing that makes me feel«I have to comeback for some more». Food is just meh. Thai tea is in a smaller cup than average I’d say. It’s just average I’d say. I have come back here on occasion simply because I truly appreciate their customer service.

I’m not sure why this place only has three stars. Every time my husband and I have come here the food is delicious. The first time I had the sweet basil chili dishes with garlic and a medium spice I thought it was very flavorful. My husband had the yellow curry which he said was one of the best curries he’s had. Today I had the pad ke mow with pork and a medium heat and again it was delicious. My husband had the parahm with pork and it was very yummy. My husband and I will definitely return

I live near Royal Thai and end up getting take-out from here pretty often. It’s pretty much my go-to asian food source. The owner is a really friendly man who welcomes you to his restaurant and makes you feel at home. I always see him talking to regulars. I tend to order the pad see ew, fried rice, mixed vegtables, or tom kha soup. Everything’s always been really good.

Great little thai restaurant, fairly close to Cal Poly. Kind of tucked away into the corner of a shopping center, and they’ve got a quiet shaded outdoor dining area with plenty of greenery and a small fountain. Both the owner and waitress were extremely friendly, and the food was delicious. I ordered some green curry — medium spice level. I’ve definitely had spicier curries elsewhere, so if you’re after a spicy dish, don’t be afraid to ask for it spicy or extra spicy. Try this place out sometime — I think it’s a lot better than the current 3-star rating would suggest!

Run-of-the-mill thai restaurant! Better than some other thai places I’ve been to. Prices are average($ 10.95−13.95 for dinner) but worth while for lunch as the portion size compared to dinner are about the same, but it’s about $ 3 cheaper. The thai tea is really small, but the thai coffee is super delicious. Service is fast. I’m a fan of the pad thai and curries. Owners are extremely friendly and it’s usually never too busy. Once in awhile it gets packed during lunch but you can count on this place to mainly be pretty slow so you don’t have to worry about getting a table. Their older menu is really extensive and they cut it down a lot in the new menu, but if you talk to your server or the manager, you can still order anything off of the old menu and customize the plate to your taste.

The owners are extremely nice caring people. They welcome you into their restaurant and really make you want to support their local business. The place is really convenient in terms of location and it never being busy at all. The food comes out fast and calling in orders is even easier for pick up. They deliver too! The food itself is good– I usually get either the yellow chicken curry or the chicken pad see ew(**with extra sauce! Believe me, if you don’t ask for extra sauce you will be getting extremely pale, bare noodles. The extra sauce pretty much just makes it what normal pad see ew is at other restaurants). The food is average, nothing that makes it better than the Thai other places in slo. To be honest, it’s just more of the convenience factor that keeps bringing me back because of the location. If Thai boat was in the same plaza Id probably be choosing that over royal Thai. But I’ve been going about once a week, so don’t let that last sentence deter you haha. Plain and simple, it’s nothing special besides your average slo Thai restaurant.

with the plethora of thai food in slo, i find royal thai convenient and quite delectable for their affordable prices. i literally live across the street and have ordered take out multiple times. i suggest the panang curry… make sure to get them super hot(***) the owner will be ecstatic! and as for their noodoos, the pad thai is slightly below average and their pad see ew reminds me of vietnamese food… which isn’t bad but maybe they used too much oyster sauce//soy sauce? not sure… TIP: their lunch special is a legitimate deal. idk about you but i am always caught in between getting a rice dish or a noodle dish. BUTFORLUNCHYOUCANHAVEBOTH… for about $ 1o-$ 15.

I’ve been to Royal Thai in the past, and didn’t think I’d make an effort to go back, but I was meeting friends and this was a central location, and I was pleasantly surprised. The host(owner?) seemed a bit stressed, but our server was attentive, mellow and had a great, dry sense of humor that I loved. It was early in the evening, so the place was not busy, so I wasn’t sure why the host would be as stressed as he seemed. I ordered the pumpkin curry special with tofu and it was delicious! I would definitely order it again. They charge extra for brown rice, which I find odd. One friend ordered the special with chicken; another friend ordered the green curry. Both were very satisfied with their dishes. Ambiance 3 Food 4 Service 3.5(3 for host, 4 for server)

Came here with my coworker for lunch because Thai Classic was too far. And we saw that they had a lunch special. PROS: There was no wait for a table; the waitress was friendly; inexpensive lunch special CONS: Terrible food! I ordered chicken Penang curry and it tasted like peanut sauce. I’m pretty sure Penang curry isn’t supposed to taste like this. It was was sweet, had a strong peanut flavor, and the chicken was meh. My lunch special also came with vegetable soup and fried wonton skin. Definitely not coming back for the food. I couldn’t finish my lunch. The cheap price does not justify the taste.

One of many Thai restaurants in SLO, and the only one in the Foothill plazas. I’d stray away from Royal Thai if you can afford the time to visit Noi’s or Lotus Thai in Los Osos, have the wallet for Thai Palace, or can manage finding a time that Thai Boat is open on Broad. Simply put: the food doesn’t taste that great and the dishes aren’t made with authentic ingredients(and aren’t substituted with good items at that rate).

Meh, nothing out of the ordinary. Since I live so close to Royal Thai, if Thai Boat is closed and I don’t feel like driving to Thai Classic, Royal Thai will be my 3rd choice. I’ve noticed their Pad Thai/Pad See Yew portions are smaller than Thai Boat and Thai Classic’s which sucks for me cuz I love bringing home leftovers. Pad Thai is pretty saucy which I like but the Pad See Yew is dry which I don’t like. They also allow you to order for events/big parties so you can get a huge large order of Pad Thai or something. Not sure how much it costs though but I’ve eaten it at club meetings.

This is by far the best Thai food around. I went here with my family and ordered the yellow curry, and it was perfectly spiced and wonderful. I also tried the Pad See Eiw the and the Chow mein entrees, which were also really tasty. My favorite was the curry puff appetizers. They were like a mix between an empenada and a somosa, and they were perfect. I don’t know why everybody is commenting on the price, because everything in SLO is expensive. Other Thai places in town charge $ 13 minimum for an entrée. Most dishes at this place were $ 10 or less. I think Royal Thai has great food, portions, and service for the money.

The food here is alright. I’ve been here three times and I think I’ve finally decided never to come back again… I’ve had the pad thai, yellow curry w/chicken, and pineapple fried rice here. There’s nothing special about the food at all and it’s not even cheap so there’s no reason to choose this place over all the other Thai restaurants in SLO. Me and my ex even got sick once after eating here :/So if you’re craving Thai food… go somewhere else.
