I’ve been here a few times now and have had both Acai Bowls and juices. The acai bowls here are the American version pre-mixed with juice. The toppings are fresh and well laid out. I do find that there is usually way more acai than fruit, and I tend to prefer a bit more of a 1:1 ratio or 2:1 for fruit to acai. I would say they do more 1:3 fruit to acai. The girls working here are super nice and they work as quickly as possible. It can get busy. I think their vegetable juices are really really good. I normally get the all green drink, kale, ginger, lemon, etc. and it’s really good. These tend to take a bit of time to make, which I like as the vegetables are picked/sorted and made on the spot. No blending or ice, or sherbert added. Just veggies. They are really clean juices too, no pulp or bits, pure juice. The prices are good, and they offer two sizes of acai bowls and juices. They also serve Whale Bird which is really cool too. Plus Yerba Mate.

Absolutely love this place! Was visiting from out of town and was told to check this place out. I had the Pirate’s Cove bowl, and it was yummy and extremely filling. My friend ordered the Bishop Peak smoothie, and they offered to substitute extra strawberries for bananas since she doesn’t care for banana– she loved it. Great atmosphere and great vibes. Next time I’m visiting SLO, I will definitely come back to The Neighborhood!

Service: I ordered an acai bowl, no honey or granola(vegan.) When I first got my order, it had honey on it. Luckily I found out before digging in. The remake: after receiving it I saw it had granola on it. Strike 2 Third times a charm? You would think. I DID receive what I initially ordered however, presentation was lackluster and I seemed as though they skimped out on my acai. Overall taste: bland and lacking flavor. Sadly the disappointing presentation meant I couldn’t add another photo to my food photography portfolio. Then again, I wouldn’t want to boast about an acai place that isn’t that good.

SLO introduced me to Acai bowls and the neighborhood is my favorite place to get them! The location is pretty convenient! It’s located in the same plaza as Kona’s Deli and there’s always enough parking! The parking lot is in the back but I believe there’s some parking on the side, but parking in the back is definitely more convenient. You can also choose to eat inside or outside, but most of the time I choose to eat outside since the weather is so nice! The service is really good too! The workers are always happy and super friendly. Sometimes it can take a little long to get the bowl but it’s never that long of a wait! The food is the best. I recently came back after graduating a month ago and I haven’t had an Acai bowl in forever and it was so good! I wish the Bay Area had more places like this! The fruit was fresh and everything was perfect! Makes for great food instagrams too If you’re looking to grab an Acai bowl this is definitely the place to go to! Free parking, great service, and great food. What more do you need? :)

Got the smoothie with mint. Crazy good. However, the wait was absolutely inexcusable. It took over 30 minutes to make 2 smoothies. That’s insane. If it’s going to take that long, can you give people a heads up beforehand? I really don’t even understand what took so long. I only saw 5 or so orders come up before ours, and there were 5 people working. What gives? If that’s the normal wait time, something is wrong with your process for filling orders. Everyone was friendly, but a 30 minute wait for an $ 8.50 smoothie isn’t my thing.

Really happy that the neighborhood now serves«small bowls»(6oz) because I can actually finish all of it! My personal favorite is the Pirates cove bowl because I love how sweet it is. I’m also a huge fan of Guayaki yerba maté, and they sell individual cans/bottles! Great place for breakfast, a detox, and post-hangovers(so I’m told). Start your morning right at The Neighborhood!

I am an Acai Bowl lover! We were driving back from Pismo to SF and the bf was craving an acai bowl. we Unilocaled one that was closest to us and Neighborhood Acai & Juice Bar came up on top so we stopped here! I ordered the High Street Bowl and added blueberries and strawberries! That was lethal!!! I’ve had many many acai bowls w/peanut butter before but Neighborhood is the first place that I’ve witnessed using PB2 instead. Whoever discovered that is a freaking genius! It still tastes just as good and way less calories! The bf ordered the SLO bowl and that was good. but mine was better! I took a star off because it took ages for the bowls to be made and there were only two other customers before us? Still a fan though!

The acai bowls here are amazing! They are healthy, nutritious bowls, made fresh right in front of you. Bowls are only 6 dollars for the small, and they are filling. Pricing is extremely fair, the staff are young and kind. If you think the Jamba Juice acai bowls are good, this place blows them out of the water. Wide variety of selections and they make the bowls in less than 5 minutes. There’s plenty of parking. The shop itself is somewhat hidden within a small shopping center. You can’t see it from the street, you drive into the parking lot, walk up the wooden steps and you’ll see Neighborhood Acai on the left. If you’re in SLO, you should definitely try this place out.

Ever since coming back from Hawaii last year, it seems like acai bowl places have been popping up everywhere, especially in SLO. But of all new places these choices this is by far my favorite. The owner Chris is a super nice guy and is willing talk to you and to help you out with your orders. He’s even managed to remember my name, which shows that he cares about the customer. The rest of the staff is awesome as well, super friendly. Now to the bowls. I love these things and have turned a few people in to them as well. Great flavors and lots of choices here. My personal favorite is the high street bowl with coconut and bee pollen added, but they are all good in their own ways. Also keep an eye out for their seasonal specials. The pumpkin one in fall is outstanding. I have yet to try their juices or smoothies, because the bowls are to darn good, but I would imagine they’re great too. This is definitely one of my favorite spots in town and frequent it weekly. You need to give it a try. Heads up though, this is a California style acai bowl with juice mixed in, so it might be a little bit different(not in a bad way) then your traditional acai bowl from like Hawaii or Brazil. A must try, none the less.

Located right behind I used to live next to Charlie’s place and Kona’s deli, neighborhood acai had just the acai bowl I needed to refresh my day. It’s a bit pricey at $ 9 a bowl, but I could definitely see where my money was going. I ordered the SLO bowl: acai, strawberries, bananas, granola, blackberries, and more, and it tasted delicious. Not sure how much sugar is in this thing, but this was a great small meal that helped me wake up. The vibes here were very casual and low key, and the music was great setting the tone of the laid back, relaxing ambience. The employees were super friendly as well. I would not mind starting my day off with an acai bowl, but I could see the price as a major turnoff. Nonetheless, I was very impressed with this place and would love to visit again sometime!

Love being able to find all vegetarian/vegan places, makes ordering super easy. currently eating the High Street Bowl and it is amazing. Also the portions for the bowls are huge! Next time I want to try their smoothies, because they look amazing, especially the Morro Rock Smoothie. Will 100% be back.

I’m an Acai addict. Name a place, and I’ve had it. This is by far one of the better places to go if you’re looking for a mouth-watering bowl. My roommates and I have been here more times than I can count on my fingers, and every time, it’s always delicious! I usually get the SLO bowl, which is $ 8.50, but last time I tried the Pirate’s Cove. It’s good, but I think I’ll save my 50 cents to keep getting the SLO bowl, which is better. The wait is at least 10 minutes, even when there aren’t that many guests. The staff is nice, but I don’t have anything particular to rave about. Inside, they have a bar style seating, but I usually sit outside on the benches they have and enjoy my bowl. Definitely recommend to any other acai addicts that are in SLO.

Neighborhood, you are now my favorite acai place in SLO County. Stopped by after hiking Bishop’s Peak during a road trip, and we were DYING for anything that could cool us down on a Saturday afternoon. Unilocal lead us to this new acai spot with a treehouse-vibe and tons of chill dudes making our acai bowls and smoothies. After living in San Diego for four years, I developed an obsession for acai especially because San Diego KNOWS how to do a legit bowl of delicious acai. However, Neighborhood does not disappoint! The guys making my bowl took their time to plate it so it was picture-worthy, and I definitely felt like they put in a lot of effort to make presentation and taste worth it. Pricing was average for my SLO bowl, so you’re getting affordability as well as quality bowls. I went with their SLO bowl and was absolutely in taste-bud heaven. Their granola is nut-free, although processed with nuts nearby(for my nut allergy Unilocalers). They also have a unisex restroom in the back, and bar seating inside but more park bench/table seating outside. You kiddos going to Cal Poly are so lucky… I’m dreaming of Neighborhood, and would totally be back if I’m ever in the area.

I needed a quick fix and looked up acai bowls in the area. Neighborhood looked promising so I tried to find it. For an out of towner, finding the parking lot was a HEADACHE! I didn’t realize the enter sign for a restaurant in the front would be the enter sign for the entire lot. Once I figured out the parking situation, everything else was great! I got the SLO bowl but with no strawberry in the base and replaced the strawberry topping with extra blueberries. It was a good portion with the right ratio of granola to base, and the coconut is a good touch. The staff was really cool. Chill and friendly. Definitely in my top 3 acai bowl places!

Since neighborhood acai opened, I’ve been here every two weeks, hooked on their slo bowl. I’m not sure what they do to their slo bowl but it keeps me coming back for more. I’ve been to other acai bowl places but this place has got to be my favorite one! Their slo bowls are well made with the perfect sweetness and flavor. The toppings are always well placed and are fresh and delicious. I love how they put extra granola on the bottom so that there is never an extra leftover or acai blend or toppings! Their granola is exceptionally delicious – practically crack. Unlike some other places I’ve been to, the bowls are well blended so that there aren’t any ice chunks still in the bowl. Sometimes there are still chunks of blended acai but that melts fast! They have the perfect proportion of ice/sweetness/flavor/toppings that it’s no wonder I’m this addicted! Although it is pricy, the slo bowl is WORTH! I have tried their palm street bowl and bishops peak smoothie before. I thought the palm street bowl was okay, not as good as the slo bowl. The smoothie on the other hand were bomb!

Health is wealth! Neighborhood serves up some fantastic acai bowls and yes they totally beat Sally Loo’s(I love Sally Loo’s but it just doesn’t compare). Why? 1. You can choose from different bowls! I loved the Palm Street Bowl! The pitaya was refreshing and the coconut + banana + mango combo was awesome. 2. They put granola on the top and bottom of your bowl! HOWGENIUSISTHAT, so you don’t run out of granola by the time you’re at the bottom of the bowl. Thank you Neighborhood for understanding and realizing everyone’s dilemma when it comes to eating acai bowls :’) OH and the granola is soo goood! It’s super crunchy and doesn’t get soggy as fast! 3. Price & Portion are pretty good! I don’t think its that cheap but neither is it overpriced. The one thing I didn’t like was how long the wait was. I wasn’t in any rush so it was fine but if you are maybe try calling ahead? There’s not that much seating inside but there are benches and tables outside. It’s a little hard to find since it’s located in the back of the plaza near Charley’s Place and Kona’s Deli. Perfect snack to have anytime during the day, especially on hot days :)

Love the small menu! Got the SLO Bowl which was everything you’d expect from an acai bowl. The owner blended it right in front of you and cut up all the bananas and strawberries so you know it’s fresh! My only critique is a lot of the add-ons actually aren’t add-ons at other acai places like Backyard Bowls in Santa Barbara. It can get pricey if you want all the addons, but you pay for quality! Definitely stop by if you’re in the mood for acai. This place totally beats out Sally Loo’s and it closer to campus! All the more reasons to love Neighborhood! And I can see why Neighborhood is a huge hit in SLO. You guys fit so perfectly into the culture out here!

Neighborhood Acai and Juice Bar is a great addition to the city of San Luis Obispo. The real winner is the SLO Bowl, which is $ 8.50 plus tax. In the blend, it has acai, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, and apple juice. On top it has blueberries, hemp granola, honey, bananas, and strawberries. It was the first acai bowl I have ever tried and will now certainly not be the last. I also tried the Palm Street Bowl, which was also pretty good except for the very underripe mangoes. Beware, once you try Neighborhood Acai and Juice Bar you won’t be able to stop coming back!

The other reviews don’t lie, Neighborhood Acai is totally worthy of all 5 Unilocal!stars! It’s brand new to SLO and fills the high-end smoothie market void in my life. No, it isn’t cheap — but this isn’t fast food. $ 9 gets you a large 20 – 24 oz. acai bowl made with local, organic ingredients(don’t forget gluten free). Chris, the owner, is always very friendly along with all the acai bowl makers(Kelly, the other Kelly, Frannie, and Tanner are awesome). So far, I’ve tried the SLO Bowl(acai, banana, blueberry, strawberry, apple juice, blueberry, hemp granola, honey) and the High Street Bowl(acai, peanut butter, banana, hemp milk/granola, honey, almonds, cacao nibs) and the Santa Rosa juice(beets, cucumber, green apple, carrot, fennel, lemon) and they were all great! The Santa Rosa juice seems like a weird combination but the cucumber makes it sooo refreshing. The bowls are perfect for a mid day snack. They give me a bunch of energy for the evening and give me a cleansing feeling. This store is brand new as of April 2015, so they are still working out all the kinks and I waited for my bowl for a few minutes, but when everything is made fresh and there is a line, I really can’t complain. The newness of the store also means it’s really nicely designed inside and they always have awesome music on. If you’ve tried the acai bowls at Sally Loo’s before, then imagine if they were bigger with more fun toppings and you’ve got an idea of what they have here. Its a super cute locally owned place — totally worth a try!
