Moondoggies Beach Club – Surf Shop

Fun staff, cute store, lots of great clothes to choose from; this place is awesome. I had to fly out of SLO back to the east coast of the U.S., and it was the middle of February. Although it was temperate in California at that time, I knew I was up against some harsh, polar opposite weather… So I called this shop to see if they could stay open a little later for me, so I could purchase a warmer jacket. They did! I bought two jackets, plus two sundresses because the staff were so understanding and helpful.

This store has a great selection of products, however the customer service I received on a recent visit left much to be desired. I came in with a pair of boardshorts that I had purchased for my husband as a Fathers Day gift a few weeks ago. He wore them two times, casually swimming in a pool. The stitching around the waistband started ripping apart in multiple places, all around the waist. This was clearly from a defective product, not from wear and tear. I can fully acknowledge the product failure was not Moondoggies fault. When I asked to exchange it, I was told that they would not take back a product that had ben worn, even just two time, because…“you never know, he could have been scooting around on his butt”. I can assure you my 43 year old husband doesn’t scoot around on his butt, and that isn’t even where the stitching is falling apart. I was so disappointed and kind of taken aback by the rediculous response. I purchased several things for him there on Fathers Day, but if this is the way returns of defective products are handled, I don’t think I will likely be returning. Bummer. I try to buy things locally because I like to support businesses in my hometown, and I expect that they will appreciate their customers also. Next time I suppose it will be easier to purchase online from a bigger seller who has customer service nailed.

Very clean, cute little surf shop, full of all the stuff you would be looking for — Reef and Rainbow Flipflops, Vans and other skate shoes, wetsuits, surfboards, great clothes for the beach or around town.
Found some awesome Men’s Vans for $ 40 (reg. $ 65) — worth strolling around and checking out the whole store.
Service is totally on par with a surf shop — chill, dude. Real chill.

This is my favorite surf shop in the area. I make it a point to stop here every time I’m in town. They have a great selection of clothes and board shorts. For the record, their Moondoggies tees are the best fitting shirts that I have ever worn.

This is a true surf shop in every sense of the word. The owner and many of the employees surf. They’ve got a good selection of boards and wet suits, without being overwhelming. In addition, they’ve got a great selection of clothes.
This is the only surf shop my family and I give our business to.

Great little surf shop! Bought our sons Penny board here they had a good selection. Also some Vans for our 6 yr old. They were all very friendly & helpful!

Great shop! The employees are friendly and helpful and the place has a relaxed feel. They have a wide selection of all the gear and clothes you need– I bought a skateboard from them.

Very cool surf and clothing shop. And they let me bring my dog in so that was a perk. Friendly employees that were eager to please, I would definitely recommend this place if you need swim, surf, longboard, or skate stuff.
