My husband and I absolutely love this place! Just went here for the first time since moving to the area and loved it. The lady behind the counter was super nice and funny and we enjoyed meeting her. And OMG the food was delicious and fresh! We will definitely be back!

I’ve been going here for more than 20 years. I live in Sunnyvale and make a special trip there just to satisfy my craving. I’ve tried 3 different Fish and Chip places closer to home and none of them can compete. I’m shocked to read all the bad reviews. She’s always been very pleasant to me. And as far as paying for extra tartar sauce? I worked at a Fish and Chip Place when I was 14 years old, that was 38 years ago and they charged for extra tartar sauce then, and it was .25 cents, so I don’t know what all the fuss is about.

Sometimes I do crave some fried seafood and this is closest to me but I drive over to San Lorenzo instead. The lady here is not pleasant. The food is standard but I just find her attitude poor. I asked for extra tarter sauce as she is stingy about it. She snaps at me extra 50 cents. I said fine. She got my 50 cents but probably loss my business for it as I’d rather drive a little further for a more pleasant experience.

I’ve been going here for years and every now and then just order zucchini sticks and fries and order extra tartar sauce and pay the 50 cents extra. I recently called to order just that when we went to pick it up the owner said she doesn’t sell tartar sauce if you don’t order fish. I had to call and complain because she didn’t say that when we I placed the order and when I called her back to ask her about it she said they had a shortage of tartar sauce. I find it really hard to believe that a business like this has a shortage of tartar sauce. I will not be going back.

This place was awful and very cheap on giving you extra vinegar when we place an order for two. She gave ua very small amount, talk about being stingy. After paying a little over 30 bucks. She is unfriendly and rude has no customer service or people skills. Will never go there again!!!

Its been years since I’ve been to this place and I just happen to be in the area during lunch time and thought I’d stop by. I walk in and order a 3 piece fish and chips and a soda. The woman taking my order tells me the soda machine is not working and that she could sell me a bottled water. Since I wasn’t in the mood to have water with my Fish and chips I asked if I can buy my soda from across the street and bring it in. Clearly she can make an exception since the soda machine is out of order right… Wrong! I asked her politely and she said no.(Kinda of reminded me if the soup Nazi from Seinfeld). I told her to cancel my order and I walked out. Bad business.

We were looking for a fish and chip place after we went to another with horrible service and left. The pros: the food was as good as deep fried food can get. We got fish and shrimp, veggies, and calamari. Everything was hot and fresh, batter was crispy and fries were golden brown. The staff was ok, it was an older asian lady and a older white man running the place. The cons: it took about close to 20 mins to get our food. The lady was the only one cooking. On top of that it was a Friday and many catholics weren’t eating meat. Also I think that our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. It was tons of food.

Pretty good fish and chips. The batter was a good thickness, but didn’t have a particular flavor. The onion rings weren’t so great. They used the same type of batter but the rings weren’t salted. I thought that the price was high for the quantity and overall quality received. I’ll keep looking for a comparable product to that of the Cod Mother in the city but would eat here again in a pinch.

I had a craving for fish and chips. This was the wrong place to go for that. Not only was it expensive for the portion size but I got sick. I felt like I drank a cup of oil. The fish had no flavor. Like hello throw some salt on it. The lady didn’t bother me. She looked bored. wasn’t too excited to see me. Kind of wondering why they are still open because it doesn’t seem like they get a lot of business. Anyway, I won’t be going here again.

It tells you a lot if you cannot have tap water and cannot bring outside drinks in…

After reading the reviews about this place I ate there anyway because I had to go to the fishing store that is next-door, and I love fish and chips! Just like the other reviewers said the Korean woman was there staring out the front window from an empty store. And the sign was still there«No outside food or drink». My buddy that was with me asked for a glass of water along with his Diet Coke and I cringed remembering I read that she was very insistent about no freewater and that you had to buy her bottled water. She hesitated and asked him several times if he wanted a bottle of water to which he said no, so she finally and reluctantly gave him a glass of water. Okay, on to the food. I ordered the two piece fish and chips with a side order of fried mushrooms and a Diet Coke. The food came pretty fast since we were the only two people in the place. The batter on the mushrooms was fried to death and hard as a rock. Like other people have said the fries came crispy but then by the end of the meal they were soggy, so they were«ok». My buddy after tasting his Diet Coke said that there seem to be something wrong with it that it tastes chemically and didn’t finish it. Mine tasted kind of funny too but I assumed it was because it was totally diluted, I guess so they could get more soda with less syrup. But I thought the fish was excellent. I like both haddock and cod and don’t prefer one over the other so I loved the fish. It was crispy and fried to a nice golden brown and fish inside was perfectly cooked. My biggest complaint is that none of the tables had a napkin dispenser, catchup bottle or the traditional bottle of malt vinegar sitting on it. You got what you got when she hands you the tray. All I got was a small thimble full of vinegar and that was it. The three small paper napkins went quick and I could’ve used a lot more, but with no napkin dispensers anywhere I had to make do with just three. Talk about cheapskates. When I go back? Probably not unless I needed something from that fishing store again and was dying for fish and chips.

When I saw that the only fish they carry is Polluck, I declined it and got the prawns instead. They are supposed to be a fish n chips joint, they should carry a good quality fish like Cod. Well, the prawns were crunchy on the outside but without any flavor at all. Bland. They didn’t have cocktail sauce but the tartar sauce tasted like plain mayo. I got 6 bland prawns n chips for $ 16. Over priced and tasteless. Needless to say, I WON’T BEBACK.

I enjoyed the shrimp and fries. The fish wasn’t all that great to me. Next time I’ll only order shrimp and fries.

I was rolling my Weekend Whip and noticed Union Fish & Chip was open so I rolled there and wandered in. The Interior is a little Dated. I ordered a 3 piece Fish And Chip. It was done in ten minutes. The Fish was pretty Crispy and the Fries were of the Steak cut Variety. It was an Average type of experience.

Nice little whole-in-the-wall. You get lots and lots of food. The food is a little greasy. The clam chowder wasn’t my favorite. Overall, nice people, and you’ll be completely stuffed after eating here.

I don’t know what happened to the quality since I was a kid but the clam chowder was like wallpaper paste and the fries were mushy and greasy. I spent $ 14 and found the meal disgusting. I would greatly suggest they also clean their fryers. What’s sad about all this is that this place is a nostalgic one for me, I really want it to be good but they are ripping people off with this greasy, dated menu and their ridiculous prices.

We walked into this place and instantly got a funny vibe. As we took a second to glance at the menu, the lady behind the counter looked unfriendly and annoyed(and was). I’ve been craving my fish and chips for a while and I came for that specifically… My choice wasn’t hard since they had only one type of fish… I asked for water because it was too expensive and she said no. What!!? Only bottled water? Isn’t that against the law? So I got a soda filled with ice… Anyway, the fish wasn’t that good, it seemed pre-breaded and just thrown into a fryer that hadn’t been cleaned for a few days. the Alaskan Pollock did not seem fresh. portion wise, there was a lot. Bottom line: food not worth the price, service unfriendly, this place is not worth the trip. Don’t go. If you do, I won’t be there.

Well, they use Alaska Pollock(which, until the depletion of other fisheries, were considered a «garbage fish») but charge you cod prices. However, the batter is pretty good and the chips are just that; chips. They’re not serving you skinny french fries with the fish, but big fat chips. The piece of fish was also pretty large. No complaints on the portions. All in all, a decent meal and a very good effort for fish and chips. What they need to either lower their prices or actually fry cod.
