Shell Service Stations

Pretty solidly and consistently priced. Not as cheap as some Hayward gas stations but fairly priced, especially considering it isn’t far from the freeway.

Station has been closed for construction, I don’t see the excavator moving every time I drive by.

Even though I live in Oakland & try to support local businesses, I avoid filling up my gas tank in Oakland. For some reason, it’s more expensive in Oakland than the surrounding areas.
So, if the Costco gas station isn’t open, I use this gas station sometimes because it’s relatively convenient since I do some of my errands in San Leandro & it was relatively close to my former workplace.
The pumps work, it’s clean, & they seem to keep things stocked so that you can wipe off your windshield when you pump gas (I’ve been to place before where they don’t, like there’ a small puddle of cleaner that the wiper is sitting in or they don’t have paper towels).
So, here comes the part where I’m going to whine & complain…
Downsides:
1. Apparently, I’m getting old, because I get really annoyed by the TV screens at each pump with no volume control, & they’re really loud. The dumbing down of America… must have TV everywhere we go.
2. Occasionally, there will be other customers who just hog up space in front of a pump, even though they’re not pumping gas. Either finished or haven’t even started & are sitting there for whatever reason, I don’t know what they’re doing, smoking a bowl? I mean one time, one guy in a pick up was parked in between 2 pumps, so that it would’ve been difficult to use either one. I went up to ask him to pull forward, & what’s he doing? Picking out his lottery numbers. If you’re not using the pump, go park in the spaces next to the gas station, not in front of the pump. Today, the car at the pump in front of me sat there with the engine running for a while before someone got out to pump gas. I was halfway through pumping gas & washing my windshield before they even started. WTF? So, I finish way before they do & end up having to back out to leave.
