Hidden Wok was our Friday night take out each week! Even during the week I would stop sometimes for one of their great lunch specials. Over the past few years, dispite the changes in ownership, this restaurant maintained its integrity and the food was still good. Since the most recent change in ownership, the quality has definately hit a low that I cannot look past and haven’t been back to eat there in months. The food is not on par with the past and they seem to use cheap ingredients. The flavor is also lacking. I have lost my craving for the Hidden Wok and sadly will not be back.

We have been coming here for the last 15 – 20 years or so, recently they have changed ownership and the menu. Food is horrible with no taste/flavor in anything. Everything seems to be made cheap or with cheap ingredients now. The pork fried rice seemed to have cous-cous mixed with the rice to make it a mushy texture, Kung-pow chicken was not spicy at all and seemed to have more of a citrus flavor, lovers prawns(battered shrimp in mayonnaise sauce with walnuts) was horrible the shrimp seemed mushy and not cooked all the way and fell out of the batter when bitten and the wonton soup tasted like dish water. All around we had to add tons of soy sauce and we spent 70 $. So sad we won’t be back, this was our go to Chinese place.

First time here, salt and pepper wings, sizzling prawns, and sizzling beef. Very good flavor great service. Was empty when we walked so wasn’t sure about this place. Sat down and ordered our food. People started to walk in and we got our food and was pleasantly surprised. Delicious!!! RECOMEND

Found this place quite by accident. We were on our way to the cupcake bakery! Had a quick lunch. Very generous portions on the lunch specials. The food was great! I had the beef chow fun lunch special and my friend had one of the chicken dishes. Wish we had a 3rd person with us, because the portions were enough to feed 3 people!!! Quick service. I’ll be back!!!

First time came here last Saturday with a friend who lives in san leandro for dinner. The place was quite busy at saturday night. We ordered the chicken wings, sizzling rice souo, crispy hot and spicy beef, and the walnut prawns. The food were tasty and delicious. The owner and waitress were very nice and friendly. I ‘l definitely come back. I would rspecically ecommend the sizzling rice soup and the crispy spicy beef to my other friends who stop by San leandro.

I’m in consummate search of great Chinese food & ambience in San Leandro. We found the food part at the Hidden Wok. The place is clean & strangely decorated compared to your typical Chinese restaurant, it’s dark, a scattering of modern oil paintings on the wall, a plastic wisteria plant in the corner. No Budda, altar, aquarium, nor Feng Shui going on here. But the food was good. Deluxe wonton soup, shrimp chow mein, Mongolian beef. Your standard Chinese fare, albeit walnut prawns are not offered on the menu but all we ate was well executed. Not a soul besides me & my mom in the restaurant but sometimes that is no indication of a good restaurant. People slowly came in to order take out. We left with leftovers too. Service was good. Go for the food, eat in or take out.

I’ve had the sesame chicken(warning: spicy. Really spicy. I don’t normally expect that from sesame chicken) and the sweet and sour here. Both were quite good, as were the eggrolls. Service was also excellent, and the dining room is very clean. All in all, best Chinese place I’ve tried in San Leandro so far.

Woww! This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in a while! I live in Dublin and there are good Chinese restaurants over there, but there isn’t one that I am in love with. I went to San Leandro with my friend and we stumbled upon Hidden Wok. We didn’t know what to expect at first because we were just thinking Chinese, we weren’t thinking about receiving the BEST Chinese restaurant with the BEST customer service! The people here are so nice and treat each and every customer really well. Not only is the customer service really good, but as well as the food! There are so many options! We ordered fried rice and the Beef Chow Fun and they were both exquisite! The Beef Chow Fun had so much flavor and it wasn’t drenched in oil compared to most Chinese restaurants! The fried rice was really delicious as well and paired well with what we ordered. I will definitely bring other friends and my family over next time I come here because of my memorable experience here. If I could summarize this restaurant in one sentence/phrase, it would be, «An astonishing Chinese restaurant that provide exquisite service and serve delicious Chinese food!» Thank you Hidden Wok, I will be back soon, or just expect me every weekend!

I got the sizzling shrimp and green bean chicken. The sizzling shrimp is flavorful and the green bean chicken is very fresh, crispy and tastes very healthy. I also got a big bowl of rice. The restaurant fits it’s name, being tucked away in a plaza and all. The restaurant is also under new management so I would take the older Unilocal reviews about service with a grain of salt. The new manager is much more accommodating and they seem to be in the works of revamping the décor and everything else. I have high hopes for this place.

We came almost at closing time and they welcomed up with a smile. All of the food was very good. I recommend the sweet and sour pork and the szechuan beef. The service there was very good as well. The inside of the eatery was nice.

Hidden Wok was my favorite for a long time. Catered my daughter’s graduation party from Hidden Wok, stopped by after work a few times a month to grab dinner, my daughter and I have had«girls only» dinners there. But the last couple of times we ordered take out over about a month’s time, the food hasn’t been great. It’s bland and smells funny. I don’t know what changed, but I’m very disappointed. Bummer.

When I walked in the restaurant, I noticed it’s completely remodeled with the modern paint and nice hardwood floor. Soon, we found out they have new partners and management team. The manager told us even they did a face make over, but the chef and menus are the same. We ordered the salted and pepper chicken wings and potstickers to start with as appetizer. The wings were fresh, delicious and crispy outside and juicy inside. They were just cooked with the right of salt and spicy. The potstickers here are the best I’ve ever had. I’ve always ordered the potstickers every time I came here. the manager and waitress were very nice and attentive. After the manager found out I was a long time customer, he offered to give us free fried bananas for dessert. I’ll definitely come back here next time~

On the evening of May 28, 2015, my mother and stepdad were having dinner here with two other friends, one of which(George) wrote another Unilocal review that evening. To cut to the chase, my mother had a cardiac medical episode while dining here with the others, and lost consciousness. One of the friends went to the front desk to call 911 for an ambulance. He is the one who posted the other review here. The female manager dialed 911 and gave him the the phone. While he was speaking with the dispatcher, the female manager became upset and wanted the phone back, telling him to hang up the call because it was a business line. He refused to give up the phone while on the 911 call. She persisted to ask for the phone back. The 911 dispatcher told him not to hang up the call. Because the manager kept persisting, the dispatcher said to give a mobile number they could call back. The call was continued on his mobile phone. The fire department came along with an ambulance. My mother was taken to the hospital emergency room and had a two-night stay. It would appear that this manager was not at all interested in the well being of one the restaurants patrons who was laying unconscious there, rather that the phone line be freed up to answer take-out orders. Luckily my mother did no die due to this woman’s selfishness and disregard for human life.

Having dinner at the hidden wok my friend of mine and her husband when she was incoherent I need an ambulance went to the front desk to ask them to call 911 she gave me the phone and his wife while I was with a dispatcher he wanted her phone back and asked me to hang up I could not believe that their manager was upset finally the fire department came and the ambulance. She was taken to the hospital. I am sitting here in the waiting room I can’t believe that the woman had no compassion or empathy oh she thought about this business the people that were in there for dinner upset hey there bill and had left. No she had a stroke or heart attack for what the problem is they just didn’t care this is one family are here and I will not patronize any longer and I hope anybody reading this review does not pay rises restaurant… 0 stars for the help and the attitude and in consideration of the human life… Maybe it’s their nationality uno compassion whatsoever

I’ve lived in San Leandro for over twelve years and I’ve frequented Hidden Wok for work lunches or last-minute dinners throughout that time. It’s not my favorite Chinese place anymore but the lunch specials are affordable and yesterday’s meal was flavorful and piping hot. As for the bare-bones décor, it doesn’t bother me in the least if I’m stopping in with my six-year-old after dance class or between errands. Quick service helps, too.
