Carlton Senior Living Of San Leandro

The Carton Plaza Senior Living Community in San Leandro was on a list of senior retirement communities suggested by «A Place for Mom». Our family was looking for a safe, friendly and diverse environment for our 82 year old father. We visited several places in the area and the Carlton Plaza was by far the best!
This was/​is a difficult transition for our dad and our family but the entire Carlton team lead by Sheila Rodriguez, Retirement Counselor, have been extremely knowledgeable, honest, supportive and patient. We are just starting phase two of this transition — we were on the waiting list and have now secured a room. Having dad in a safe and supportive environment
will give us a peace of mind that cannot be measured.

We toured Carlton Plaza for our 89 year old dad. He had suffered «low sodium» and suffered from depression. He was ultimately placed in a senior physch nursing home. Depression is common in elders. Carlton Plaza wanted nothing to do with anyone with «mental problems».
We hoped they would take him as respite resident so they could establish him as «safe to himself and others». Not a chance. As it turns out we found a wonderful place for dad that is not afraid of the realities of aging.

We have been looking for placement for my Mom over the past few months. We toured the Carlton Plaza and absolutely loved the facility including the staff, amenities, meals and activities. Unfortunately, my Mom’s needs have changed and she requires more of a skilled nursing environment. But we have absolutely felt comfortable the with Carlton Plaza.
Sheila, our advisor and consultant is wonderful to work with. She took time to understand our needs. and is extremely knowledgeable and professional.
Would highly recommend the Carlton Plaza!

I moved my father to the community for a year and a half. Great facility with a great staff. They took great care of him. He met some amazing people.
The food was good.
As my fathers condition deteriorated. He needed more services. That’s when things got very expensive.
Make sure you understand the costs of services and consider your loved ones health.
We moved dad to a facility with a capped fee for considerably less for more services. It’s smaller and has many of the same benefits.
We will miss this place though.

Mom is calling the Carlton Plaze «home». She has settled in and enjoys the environment and her friends and staff. From exercise to Bible Study and the Lunch outings and manicures, Mom is never bored. The Halloween event and Veterans celebration were top-​notch. Kudos to the chef on the new menu items…’

My name is Kimberlye Gold and I am an entertainer who performs regularly at Carlton Plaza San Leandro. I play music full time all over the Bay Area and it is definitely one of the loveliest facilities I have ever had the pleasure of entertaining. The activity director Veronica Pavlakis does a fantastic job, and the large group of residents are active, happy and engaged every time I have the pleasure of connecting with them. I highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for a GREAT place to live or place their loved ones!

Nice facility. Friendly staff. Great location. Perfect place for Mom. I’d recommend this facility.

My Mom lived at the Carlton Plaza for 10 months. She loved it there. She was so happy and she wasn’t easy to please. The staff were so friendly and so loving to her. They always greeted my brother and I by our first names.
They had great activities for the residents and lots of entertainment. They always celebrated holidays in a very festive way.
They had a private dining room where we would cook and have dinner with my Mom. The facilities were very clean and kept up very well. It had an upbeat energy to it. Not depressing like other places we had visited
My Mom passed away last week and they loved her and took care of her till she took her last breath.
I can’t recommend the Carlton Plaza more highly!

I cannot say enough about the fabulous staff and amenities at Carlton Plaza. They have many activities to keep seniors busy and connected if they so desire. My parents moved into assisted living there in 2004. As my mother’s dementia worsened, she was moved into their dementia unit which they call «Our House.» The staff and caretakers there are exceptional in every way. My mother lived there for almost 7 years, until her recent death. I will miss the staff at Carlton as they became extended family members. They treated my parents and us like family.

We took a tour of Carlton Plaza San Leandro for my grandmother. She was understandably nervous and upset, but our tour guide, Amber, really went out of her way to engage my grandmother in conversation.
I could tell that Amber had an active listener when she discovered that my grandmother and her had something in common– they both lived in the same city.
What also amazed me was that Amber and the other staff that we met knew every single resident’s name. Greeted them warmly and gently probed to make sure that everything was okay. Can’t fake that type of genuiness.
