My daughter’s friend had been attending Yaoyong Dance, since she was three-year’s old. They highly recommend Yaoyong Dance, so we decided to check-it out. We feel so lucky and fortunate to have found this wonderful dance school. My daughter takes Chinese Dance with Ms. Tan. Ms. Tan is an excellent teacher, who supports and encourages the girls in their dancing. We have a dance mom who keeps us, parents informed of costumes, tickets, practice schedules, etc. The dance recitals are very well organized and are held at West Valley College. Flash photography is prohibited during the show because when a flash of a camera goes off and a performer happens to be looking directly at it, they can, and do; sometimes get temporally blinded seriously compromising their ability to see on stage. Yaoyong Dance wants to keep the dancers safe and they do prohibit flash photography during the show. Yaoyong encourages parents to video tape and take photographs during dress rehearsal. This seems perfectly fair and reasonable to me. We have been very happy with Yaoyong Dance for the last three years!!!

Good instructors, but poor organizers and management. My daughter attends one of the ballet class from one of the instructor associated with this organization. We had a spring performance yesterday and it was a poorly organized event. First, even with multiple parents complaining about how disorganized the event was last year, they failed to make any changes to improve. From logistics to execution, they failed in providing the proper directions and organizations necessary to run a performance. As an example, the floor manager for the show came to one of the dressing room and asked«Is everyone in the program here?» What a stupid question? I know I am here, how do I know if everyone is here? As a floor manager, she should have a list of the performers and then she can count it herself. The parents paid for the lessons, the parents paid for the tickets to watch the performance, and the parents paid for the dresses as well. Do they really expect the parents to run the show for them as well? Maybe we should get pay instead?! Second, we were told not to photograph and/or videograph the performance that we have spend so much money and time to prepare for. They even went as far as saying that they will confiscate the cameras if they caught us using it. That’s border line criminal. Hence, I will not recommend anyone to this studio and I will alert all my arts/performance friends in the bay area.
