Grossest park due to the severe dog poop. Some poop was so old, it was turning white. If you take your dog, pick up its poop. You can buy 700 poop bags for $ 15 on Amazon.

Filthy bathrooms with clogged up nasty sinks and a heavy urine smell. Lots of drunk homeless people drinking and sweltering play equipment that singes little kids’ arms and legs. Water fountain is dirty and clogged up. It’s a shame that this huge area isn’t being used properly, definitely not coming back.

Welch Park really isn’t anything more than a field of grass. So you can call that a soccer field. There’s also something resembling a baseball dugout that’s hardly even used. At best, this is a place to have a good picnic. Every once in a while, you’ll see an Astro Jump or something like that in the area because this is a fairly popular birthday spot for the local neighborhoods. Speaking of the local neighborhoods, this is pretty much gang territory. I go to this location a lot because the center building of the park is the basecamp of the Filipino Youth Coalition and their cultural component, the Hiyas Philippine Folk Dance Company, uses this area as a practice venue. There was one weekend where the cops were on a high-speed chase for an on-foot person, so there are plenty of reason to keep the house’s doors closed and locked when we’re in the middle of a meeting. But when practices get hectic, it gets really hot and we have to leave the doors open… leaving room for danger. FYC is addressing the gang problem by holding an Annual Community Fest at the park. Last year’s was pretty successful, as it featured a talent show by the local high school kids as well as performances from local artists. But until these problems get solved, don’t plan on being alone here.
