It’s not fine dining, people, it’s a diner. And for what it is, it’s just right: great selections of pancakes and omlettes, plenty of bacon and eggs, reasonable prices, and generous with the coffee refills. Plus some eye-catching specials(the Dutch Baby isn’t a sight I’m gonna forget soon! Definitely have to try that next time — split with like 6 people). I came with a party of 4 on a Sunday at around noon, and we were seated immediately at a window booth. I had an oatmeal(came with raisins and brown sugar), an egg over easy, and some sourdough toast. I also tried some of my friends’ omlette(biggest omlette I’ve ever seen! Fluffy and cheesy and lots of well-integrated fillings), gluten free pancakes with blueberries and banana(no extra charge for gluten free!), and potato pancakes(like a latke and a pancake had a baby). Everything was good; we left full and happy.

Come to this place once a year to meet up with people. The apple pancakes are great though you do have to keep in mind that they take at least 20 minutes. The staff there are usually nice. However service in general is quite slow, so don’t go here if you’re in a hurry.

Blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-APPLE PANCAKE! I know that OHOP(my friends and I refer to it as Original House of Pancakes) has mixed reviews, but their apple pancake is really something else. Pretty much the only thing I come here for, so I can’t comment on much else. Service is not really the best — it’s on the slow side. The apple pancake does take 20 minutes to cook, but I’ve been here times where we waited much longer than that for our food. Still, come here at least once to experience this monster of a pancake. It’s huge and thick — doughy and soft topped with caramelized apples. I do have a sweet tooth, so might not be everyone’s thing. Maybe bring a friend and split it. I’ve been a fan for years, and will keep coming back.

I was about to rate this place at two stars for the ridiculously slow service that we experienced. There were hardly any other guests at the restaurant when we arrived, but it took over 45 minutes to receive our food. It’s a good thing that the food was pretty good otherwise this would be getting a «meh» rating. We came here because my visiting sister-in-law was really fixated on coming here. We usually go to Holder’s and occasionally Stacks, but she was quite keen on taking us to thin place. We ordered a smattering of dishes that we shared among the 5 of us. Dutch Baby — interesting concoction, came out warm. Pretty decent taste and texture. Apple pancake — the favorite of the table. Warm, sweet(maybe just a little too cloying), with fresh-tasting apples. Biscuits and gravy — horrible. This clearly was gravy from a can. It was barely lukewarm when it came out. No bits of sausage at all. Biscuits were dry and bland. French crepes — good crêpe but soggy, clearly previously-frozen strawberries — soggy, mealy texture. Would have been better if they just topped it with jam. Junior plate — buttermilk pancakes. Pretty standard, and pretty good. Despite the fact that the food took way too long to come out, the waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. I had to turn them away several times as they frequently offered to fill my coffee cup. In summary, a pretty standard experience at a pretty standard restaurant. I’ll probably come back, just for the nostalgia of a good old fashioned pancake house experience. I’ll just come with a crossword and will pass on the biscuits and gravy.

BLUF: pancakes portions are stupid large, decent flavor, service is good. Definitely your American greasy spoon type restaurant. TL;DR: so I read the reviews prior and I have to say what I was expecting was not what I got, in a good way. I had read in several fires that service was substandard, which was not at all the case. There is a possibility that this is because I was having brunch on a Thursday and the place was not busy. Over all service was attentive and pleasant, and our server was honest and up front about our wait time. I ordered an apple pancake with a side of scrambled eggs. The pancake was tasty, and the caramelized brown sugar on top was a nice touch. The eggs on the other hand were just that, eggs which is all I really wanted anyway. Also worth mentioning the coffee comes with a side of heavy cream and not half and half, defined plus. The décor is nothing special, old diner vibe. You come to this place for the food not the view, no points lost here. If the place is not to busy give it a shot. But if the wait is longer than 40min not worth it.

The place smells bad. We waited so long for any service once we sat down that we left and went to another breakfast restaurant. I’ve never left a restaurant before, but this was just rediculous.

Oh, where to begin. Came here today, Wednesday afternoon, for«lunch.» We were greeted by a very friendly staff. That’s about all that’s positive about this place. From the moment you walk in, you’ll notice how drab, run down and grimy the restaurant looks from the walls, to the tables to the dark carpet. I was kind of expecting old school, but not dirty. We sat in a booth and ordered: Eggs Benedict with hash browns and a bacon omelette with sourdough toast. As we waited a short while for our food, I used the bathroom. As I walked to the back, I noticed the push cart for collecting dirty dishes and garbage sitting in the middle of the dining room. And as I approached the restroom door, I smelled it: sewage. The women’s room has two toilets, one of which is clogged and full. The floors look filthy as does the stall with the working toilet. I didn’t want to touch anything. It’s an absolute disgusting sty. Our order was brought to us quickly. My bacon omelet was absolutely atrocious. After the second bite, I couldn’t eat anymore(no exaggeration). The egg is soooo over cooked and lacks seasoning. You would think anything with bacon would be flavorful and full of fatty goodness but the bacon was disgusting: hard chunks, hardly enough to warrant calling it a main ingredient, and it tasted old because it was flavorless. It truly was the most disgusting omelette I’ve ever had. Everything about this plate was wrong. Just wrong. I was brought a to go box and just left it on the table. I wouldn’t give it to my dog let alone eat it as a leftover. The Eggs Benedict faired slightly better. Eggs were fine but the ham is gross as it has a sweet sugary flavor to it(who puts that in Benedict??) and the English muffin was hardly toasted. So it was really eggs, sugar ham on top of bread. The hash browns that came with it were fine. We’re sort of new to the area so I thought I’d try a mom and pop place but unfortunately, this place isn’t going to be a new go-to place for us. i left hungry and should’ve just gone to Jack in the Box a couple of blocks down. I don’t see how this place is still in business. Absolutely horrible food, unhygienic and appalling environment. I’ll never return.

The food is good. I tried the Dutch Baby and the 49ers Flap jacks. The service is good. But the wait for our food is long because the Dutch Baby took 20 mins to make.

Having brunch with friends. We ordered bacon omelette, strawberry waffles and«Dutch Baby». Truly recommend the Dutch Baby one! Taste good. The service is also quite good. They refill your coffee very frequently. However, the waiting time is so long. We wait for about 30 minutes.

Parking: Private lot with plenty of space. Food: Very good and delicious breakfast food,(hence the name), with some lunch items as well. I thought the waffles were superb. Reminder – they cook with peanut oil so those with allergies must ask or have your EpiPen ready. Service: This is my biggest gripe and why the review gets 2 stars. Our service was quite subpar with us repeatedly asking for minor things like water, butter, etc. Service was so bad that two employees who were leaving, got up to help us. Those two men were exceptional and one of the few bright spots during our dine in. I did read some other reviews and service seems to be a major issue. I do not know if the owner cares or knows, but some of her wait staff could use retraining or time for new staff(except those two dudes).

One of our favorite meals of the day is breakfast and the original pancake house serve the great meal. The potato pancakes were unique and fun to eat but my favorite was the corn beef hash. I always try the corn beef hash restaurants since it’s hard to get it right, and this was an eight out of 10. Ideally, pastrami should have been shredded a little thicker, but it was flavorful, crispy and meaty with just enough soft potatoes to fill in. My wife also like the Hawaiian ham and potato pancake late families flavorful and a very large portion. Great service! and we didn’t even have to wait 1130am on a Saturday.

I don’t really understand what the fuss about this place is about. Yes, they have some specialty pancakes that aren’t commonly available elsewhere, but they aren’t all that tasty(yes, rubbery and tasteless Dutch baby, I am looking at you). They do take reservations though, and the service is quite friendly. We were able to make reservations for 12 for 10:30am on Sunday morning without any trouble. In fact, there wasn’t even a line or much of a crowd inside when we arrived. There were still plenty of two-tops available, and those were easily combined to make four-tops. Their menu seems quite extensive, but there isn’t much in terms of «specialties» the way that Stacks or Los Gatos Café have. I ordered a basic breakfast of sausage and eggs, which came with a choice of three pancakes, toast, a half side of potatoes, or something else… I forgot. I went with the pancakes, which were only okay. I also got a half side of the breakfast potatoes, wanting a more well-rounded breakfast. The link sausage was a huge disappointment. Instead of a bunch of fat an juicy pork sausages, I got four shriveled up and overly cooked sausages that were mostly filled with rancid pieces of fat. The best part of my meal was probably the potatoes, which were cooked through with grilled bits. The eggs were forgettable, as were the pancakes, which were fairly flat and flavorless. Others seemed to enjoy their corned beef hash with potato pancakes. If I’m ever persuaded to return, I might try the potato pancakes instead. Prices aren’t that cheap, $ 10.99 for my basic breakfast + $ 3.90ish for the side of potatoes.

The potato pancakes were a highlight — very flavorful and moist. Practically everything else we ordered was a disappointment. The corned beef hash was dry and stringy. The hash browns were dry and cold. The service was slow and lackluster. The place looks old and could be cleaner. Not coming back.

Wrong food(«Berries» is NOT a bowl of hard melon chunks with a few berries on top, poached eggs are not cooked solid, etc.) and slow, slow service. A wholly disappointing experience. The place seems to be coasting on its former reputation, but I’m done with it.

My search for a good breakfast location brought me here after I saw a long line outside the door one Sunday morning. So next time I was around at a Saturday morning around 10am and saw the parking lot full but no line I thought it’s a good sign, and good time to go in with no line. I found the restaurant to be full with happy people and sweet smells. Almost all tables were occupied. The Traditional American Dinner décor and sweet smell were very promising and inspired me to go for pancakes. One order of pancakes is a stack of six pancakes. I was very excited, but while I was picturing a glorious pile of golden fluffy goodies I received a stack of thin dark brown… something. Ugh, the disappointment was painful. It was more like a thick small crapes than pancakes. It wasn’t fluffy in any way. It was too dark and not appetizing at all. The look wasn’t great nor the taste. I didn’t even finish half my pancakes and just left as fast as I could.

+1 — HUGE portions +1 — relatively fast service –1 — mediocre taste, only solved by the fact they give you SOOOO much –1 — for becoming a LOT more dingy than i remember it. Overall: i’ll probably not be coming back but I’m also not the biggest fan of breakfast food.

OPH is in that tenuous space between slightly above a regular diner and slightly below Bill’s. The food is for the most part average. However with one or two dishes they manage to seriously surprise and delight. Before I get to the particulars a slight caveat; iv been a semi-regular for over 6 years and have noticed the quality of the Apple Pancakes go down. I’m sorry to say that you are all missing out on what used to be truly amazing. Scrambled eggs — not fluffy and not very scrambled. Obviously folded a bunch on a flat griddle and tasted very buttery(not in a good way) Hash browns — more like country potatoes which I rather enjoy. Had bits of crunchy onions in there as well which I too enjoyed Crêpe w/strawberries — the compote that came with this was great. Though I think that was new. Dutch Baby — I always found this slightly bland and recommend ordering a side of fresh fruit Apple pancake — basically a flat Dutch Baby with a top layer of baked cinnamon apples. When done right, this is the breakfast food you get on the day of your execution.

One of the best pancake houses I have ever been too! I cannot look at iHop the same! I tried the S’mores pancake. It was basically chocolate chip pancakes with smores and graham crackers. Perfect for people with a major sweet tooth! Our server, Joey, was excellent and made sure everything was good! We also tried the Philly cheesesteak with hash browns, and they were so delicious! Hash browns with sauteed onions paired very well with the sandwich! Definitely coming here again!
