By far the worst service I have ever received. Or should I say«not received!!» Stopped in one night after dinner with my wife for a quick drink. After standing at the bar for about 10 minutes I was never even said hi to. It was a weekday and not too busy. Plus there were two bartenders working. Both made eye contact with me but for some reason never engaged me so that I could order a drink for my wife and myself. Some guys that seemed to be regulars walked in well after me and the bartender immediately serve them before me. So I took my wife, myself, and my money elsewhere. Very disappointing beings that I live only 1 block away and thought this could be a cool hang out for me and my friends from time to time.

Some areas tempt you in and make you would like to remain. Yesterday I discovered one of these areas, The Office sofa, once called the Marmacist. I work in the region and at times after a very long day it is fine to relax with a drink and friendly business. The Marmacist. was fine but The Office takes it up several notches. You must make it in here and try it outside.

I come here all the time with my girlfriend. This is the only bar and the best bar that we attend. When it comes to San Jose, you haven’t had the true ‘San Jose’ experience until you try out a place like the office. The element is amazing. Nothing but hardworking people that are trying to relax after a hard day at the ‘office’ lol. The best bartender in the entire world works here! We love Marlene, and we love the office. Choose the office for a good time!:)

I’ve been coming here since it was Marmist and I’ve loved it then, still loving it now. Same bartender as before and she has always been very sweet! It looks a lot cleaner and spacious with the remodel. They still have a touch screen where you can play music and they added in the Fantasy Five. BUUUUT the darts are gone. Boo, it was always fun trying to play darts when you’re feeling buzzed. Overall, it’s a great place to grab drinks and you can always count on getting it QUICK too! Some places make you wait until your hair turns gray to get your drink.

I’m not a Unilocal fan for the mere reason that most people use this as a venting forum and often post things that never happened, change the scenario or flat out lie .As is the case with Claudette’s post from 2⁄24. I was there that night. In fact, I am the person she refers to as Melissa. Couldn’t even get my name right? Nothing about her post is true. Not one thing. I was not gossiping or arguing. I was having a conversation with a customer about a mutual friend who is in fact not a bartender. Claudette has been in on my shift a handful of times. Not the nicest person I’ve ever dealt with, still I have always been kind to her. The TRUTH is that she walked into a full bar at around 1:00 am. Music was going, people were having a good time. The place was loud. I was doing what bartenders do, engaging in conversation with a customer. When she finished her wine and asked for her check she made a snide remark to the customer saying«I came here to relax not listen to you guys argue» In which case the customer said, we’ve known each other for years, we aren’t arguing. Her response again, and very rudely put.“I came here to relax”. In which case I mentioned to my customer that this isn’t exactly a library. It’s a bar! If I want a drink after work, I would go to a bar. If I wanted peace and quite, I’d go home. Claudette here was half way down the other side of the bar, on her way out when I made that comment. Apparently she didn’t hear that or any other part of the conversation she complained about since none of what she mentioned was said. And there was absolutely no comment about my boss, or love, or anything else to that effect. Perhaps when she was eavesdropping on our conversation,(the one that apparently bothered her) she did not really hear what we were actually talking about. So Claudette, I’m sorry you were having a bad day. I suggest next time you just go straight home after work so you can«relax» in the type of environment that suits you. Apparently a bar filled with music, and people talking to each other, laughing and having a good time, isn’t your thing. I honestly think it’s your bosses at BAY101 that should be worried… Oh and given the shitty attitude you gave to my customer, and all the lies you told in your review in order to exonerate your own behavior… I am very happy to not have to serve you again. Thank You…:)

Wow… is all I can say. I feel sorry for the owner! Sometimes when I get off work before 2am I swing by and have a drink. The last few times I’ve been there the bartender is talking(gossiping) so loud it’s annoying. It’s always negative stuff… tonight was no different except the guy she was arguing with an gossiping too was too close to me. I said«I came here to relax» her response to me was«If you want quite… go to a church!» Really? She was so pissed that the guy sitting next me was saying he liked another bartender… she turned around and took it out on me. Crazy Melissa! I’d fire her in a minute! They lost my business. She’s told me the owner is in love with her… seriously? You don’t treat someone’s business like that. To the owner… Get your shit together or your going to lose everything.

I really miss the Marmist. The pours were better and I liked the old staff. =( I do like that they have beers on tap now.

This place has the dive feel but has obviously been newly renovated. I came here for a friends birthday party with a group of about 10 – 15 people and besides did us there were just a few other patrons. I liked the vibe(because I like my friends) but was not a huge fan of their beer or champagne selection(they only had one IPA and Cooks!). I don’t think many people know about this bar because it’s tucked into the corner of a not so popular shopping center in willow glen. I would be willing to return if someone else wanted to go, but would never suggest it as a top one or 10 option if I wanted to hang out with friends for a drink.

My boyfriend and I came here while we were waiting for our movie at the drive in to start. The bartender was a Scottish lady with blonde hair, I didn’t get her name but she was super nice! Drinks were good, we got free snacks to munch on, and the bathrooms were clean and smelt like vanilla. Definitely a nice chill environment and if I’m ever in the area I would come back for sure.

Fist time going and i heard good things about it. Its like a hole in the wall bar, real nice inside and pretty mellow. I plan to return, plus It’s not too far from where i live, its also near the Cinnelux theatres so after a movie if you want to have some drinks The office is close and convenient.

When this bar used to be the marmist that place was a straight up dive. The new owner who came in and gutted the whole place and the place looks amazing now. He really did it right and didnt do any cheap upgrades. New bathrooms, floors, walls, ceiling. This place is a very high end local bar. Tucked away in a small shopping plaza deep in the corner its easy to be missed. Just look for the Donut shop, Cheesesteak shop, and there it is. Has someone been reading my diary? They just opened a patio with a huge TV outside for football and any other sports… In case you like to be inside there are also 9 big screen TVs everywhere. Friendly staff and good prices. This place has a ton of potential to be the next«it» spot. Good work.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig I live in Willow Glen and would like to go some place closer rather than to Campbell… Went to this bar few times when it was the Marmist and as expected, it was a total dive bar(not in the fun way) with the patrons you would expect. Overall it was uncomfortable and you can tell most of the people in there, spent all their time there. The people that frequent the place are loud mouths and can get out of hand at times. I get that it can happen at all bars but I expect it from the idiot college kids having a good time rather than the 50 year alcoholic. I pass by this area every day when going to work, so I was excited to see the place was under new ownership and construction. Stopped in one day to take a quick look inside, liked what I saw and left. My boyfriend and I decided to go there the other night and have a couple beers. Mistake… the same clientele is still there drinking away and bothering(in this case threatening) the patrons. We were there for a total of 20 mins before we had to leave because the ex-felon(self-admitted) standing next to us the whole time decided he wanted to teach my boyfriend a lesson in the parking lot. This came out of nowhere. The guy was heavily intoxicated and should have been cut off and thrown out a long time ago. Also, the bartenders are apologetic about everything… done to the way the place looks, the news rules etc. which tells me that they are getting harassed by the village idiots from the past. To the owner… BOUNCEYOURBARORHIRESOMEONETODO.

Marlene is the best, she remembers what I order and always asks just in case I change my mind and order a Watermelon Crawl. :-) Jeff is very on top of it no loooong wait when I come in. He sees me n says he’ll be right with me if he’s. Nice. :-) feeling very appriciated with these two. Very nice. I will be back. :-)

Nice place. Buddy and i tried it last night on a whim. Very clean. Excellent selection of liquor. Could use better wines to meet the liquor quality, but not a major issue. Bartender was helpful and efficient. missy was very friendly and poured a proper shot. I hope they keep that mentality. Although no food is made there they are surrounded by places that deliver. Like that a lot actually. Focus on bar service and let the foodies do the food. All in all a great place with a lot of potential. So many times new owners start strong and then lose the recipe. Hopes are high for the office.

2.5 stars. I agree, it has potential. Since the big remodel it’s lost some of it’s charm, but on the bright side, the terrible odor is gone. I remember being there when it was The Marmist and I couldn’t finish my drink because of the smell. It wasn’t very crowded, so we got served right away. The bartender was friendly enough. I think maybe if they were to start serving food, nothing fancy just«bar food» it might bring it up a notch? Anyway, I suppose it’s ideal for those who live nearby and don’t want to drink alone.

This is my favorite place after work. (Previously) ‘The Marmist’ was a mellow, grungy dive, but with all due respect, The Office is better. Weekday afternoons have a chill vibe, with personable bartenders and strong drinks. Good for game days and the restaurant next door(Amato’s) delivers if you’re hungry. Nighttime is also on par, bartenders are good at remembering drinks if you’re a returning customers and their recommendations for newbies are usually spot-on. Lots of comfy seating and a spacious patio with another TV outside. Reasonable prices and good crowd. Seriously I can’t recommend enough. They take care of you like a dive bar, but feel like a Vegas bar. 5 stars.
