Juicy enchilada sauce. Portion is great and if you like flavorful and saucy Mexican foods. I got #9(Burrito, Enchilada, Crunchy Taco(I didn’t know I thought only soft taco) it comes with rice, refried beans, and iceberg lettuce tomatoes salad all this for $ 12. Not bad! Waiting might takes time since only 1 waitress, 1 chef, and 1 soy chef I think. But it’s worth it!

This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend but sad to say that this place was NOTGOOD! 5 stars for the Asian man who busted his ass the entire night being a host/busboy/runner. 1 star for the food. No idea why people find this place good but the salsa was way too spicy and lacked flavor, the chips sucked, the guacamole was served on a plate and looked like a «smear» and the garlic shrimp was so salty you could barely eat it. El pollo loco tastes better than this place.

This review is based on the fact that there hours advertised are incorrect. On the door it read 10am — 8pm Sunday through Thursday and it is currently 10:30 and the door is locked with nobody in sight. I made a trip from 25min away to eat here because Unilocal said they opened at 10. 1 star and losing my business.

I had lunch here for the first time and it was okay. I ordered the shrimp fajitas which was pretty good and my wife ordered a carne asada wet burrito which wasn’t that great. So it was a hit and a miss. People seem to rage about the michelada which I also ordered and didn’t think anything special about it. I do like the building. It’s a lot bigger inside than I thought and would be a fun place for a large party.

Don’t let the drafy interiors, the broken-down chairs, and the questionably clean floors and tables fool you — *this* is the best taco spot in Willow Glen. Unlike the Lincoln Location, the Willow St Taqueria TL doesn’t charge for chips. Super crispy without being overtly oily, they were chip perfection. My coworker recommended the carnitas tacos($ 3.65), but I couldn’t shy away from my personal favorite, the al pastor.($ 4.00). Turns out, he was right :|. The al pastor, while very good and flavorful, had a bit more fat than what I was used to, while the carnitas were perfectly moist and crispy. Another note: these tacos are HUGE. I was briefly considering getting 3 at these prices, but as it turns out, I ended up struggling pretty hard to finish just two. Great portions, well prepared meats, and overall deliciousness. What really shines are their cheladas and micheladas, however. Huge goblets of beer, tequila(?), and lemon for sub-Willow Glen prices, I couldn’t resist, even on a day as freezing as this one. If you’re a fan of tomato and/or bloody marys, I’d definitely recommend the michelada, but both are a great accompaniment to beer. Definitely will return — sweet: good food, great prices bitter: service is lacking, and it’s so, SO drafty

This place has, unfortunately, gone downhill. Dirty, loud and slow/unfriendly service. We used to dine here weekly. Not anymore.

Everything here is super delicious. I love their super tacos the best! I am always here and the waiters are super nice. They serve the chips fresh and warm. The super chavela really hits you! they limit you only three. I have not been to the other locations yet but I love how the environment here. I recommend this place for both a good time to drink as well as a family dinner.

WHYWEWENTHERE: — my aunt and I were having a catch-up date and she chose this place; her go-to Mexican restaurant — I’ve actually never been to this place before, especially since my friends always say«Puerto Azul over Taqueria Tlaquepaque» THELOOK(FROMTHEOUTSIDE): — on the corner, you can tell it’s BUSY — we had to park in the neighborhood down the street THELOOK(FROMTHEINSIDE): — the waiting area/room is like the living room at a house — a good amount of seating in a somewhat closed off space that’s off to the side — you put your name and party number down on a piece of paper that’s on a clipboard; if your entire party isn’t there you won’t be seated — it’s VERY loud and the lighting is pretty dim WHATWEORDERED: — platos(I can’t recall offhand right now, but my aunt and I finished ours — we were both hungry and the food was good!) — super chavela I believe it was called(that has the shot of tequila in it) — horchata THETASTE: — thumbs up! CUSTOMERSERVICE: — not as attentive as I would’ve liked; pretty slow

I have been coming to the 3 different branches of Tlaquepaque since 1997(my first experience was with the one on Lincoln and Curtner). First off the salsa and chips are seriously amazing!!! The rest of the food is decent but not award winning or anything like that. Overall prior to my last experience the place would be a solid 4 stars Sadly though because of the absolute worst service I’ve ever received at a restaurant I won’t be coming back again and consequently their rating has plummeted. Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane as painful for me as it may be to recount. I had to get some new tires on my car and I use the fellas next door at Morin Tires to do my work(read my review of Morin Tires) and I was super hungry. I figured I had about an hour to waste and it was 2:30p. I walked in and there were still quite a few people in the restaurant so that was a good sign I should get some service, I was wrong. I waited 5 minutes at the front where the hostess desk is and no one so much as even looked at me. A person came by after the 5 minutes but essentially pretended like I wasn’t there. I was just about to seat myself when someone finally came and sat me. I sat in the room with the windows that faces Willow Street. I was the only person in the room and I sat there without utensils or a menu for just about 15 minutes. Luckily I was bored and waiting on my tires. The crazy thing was that three other parties of people came in between the 15 minutes and they had gotten chips and salsa, they had their menus and had utensils. Finally a busser came by and brought me some chips. About 5 minutes later a women server came around the corner and looked at me like she’d seen a ghost. Instead of ask me if I had been served and apologize for waiting so long she looked put off that I didn’t know what I wanted, kinda tough without a menu. Luckily I had been here so many times I knew what to order as a default and she took my order with a sour look on her face, if she wanted to feel sour she could have been me sitting there for 20 minutes. Another party came in and sat down in the same room as me and another gentlemen sat down on the wall just opposite me. Here’s the crazy part, it’s now about 3:15p and the two nice ladies across from me had yet to be served or given any menus(they got there around 3p). The gentlemen that came and sat on the other side of the wall from me had his chips he had ordered his meal and as crazy as his may sound the food I thought was destined for my table ended up on his table. I couldn’t believe it. I just looked at the nice ladies and smiled, I closed my iPad and grabbed my phone and I walked out. My car was ready across the street so I just drove off and as far away from this experience as possible. I’ll never know if my food came out but I can tell you this I don’t really care. I am thankful for the countless meals I had in this place over the years but sadly again this one atrocious experience puts an end to a long standing relationship.

I must say this place was my go too for everytime I wanted Mexican food I order over the phone for pick up at 740. The employee who took the order said 10 minutes the food would be ready! So we road our bikes with our 16m in the trailer around 750 the order should have been completed. We get there right at 750, proceeded to wait… and wait… finally after 30 minutes of waiting the two burritos were ready. That in total was over 40 minutes to complete the order. To top everything off they couldn’t even get the order correct. I ask the employee why she said«be ready in 10 minutes» when it took 40 minutes. If your busy fine we would have went somewhere else. Also instead of admitting that they messed up by saying sorry she asked if I wanted hott sauce. Wtf. By this time it was dark and pretty dangerous to be riding our bikes back home without lights. Food is good customer service sucked I also don’t enjoy being mislead and lied too.

The Tlaquepaque restaurants used to be my favorite Mexican spot in San Jose, but in the last few months they have been seriously disappointing. I usually go to the one on Lincoln, but they were closed on a Wednesday(it’s usually only Tuesdays). So we went up the street to this location, which is NOT my favorite to start with, because of the godawful service. We put our name down and the host was just walking around aimlessly while 3 – 4 parties were waiting, and I could clearly see 6 – 7 tables wide open. We had to just grab him and make sure he seated a large family ahead of us, since they had been waiting quite a while. Finally we were seated as well, and our waitress, whom we recognized from the Lincoln location, lets us know that there are only two cooks. A cook just didn’t show up, and it was going to be another hour until a replacement showed; she explained that food was going to take anywhere from 35 – 60 minutes. They really didn’t know. We ended up going to a different restaurant entirely. Two stars because of the great waitress who kindly explained the situation to us upfront instead of letting us sit there wondering and waiting.

One of my favorite Mexican places in the bay area! I think their nacho chips are a little weird tasting(like they’ve been fried in pork fat), but their salsa is delicious. I always get their enchilada combo platters. Love their rice and cheesy beans. Feels authentic ! Everytime I come need to wait a long time and they are understaffed, so I usually help myself to salsa and chips of needed. The best part about this restaurant? Saying the restaurant name — what a tongue twister!

Lately I haven’t been coming to this location. Then, my family and I went on Sunday afternoon. The place packed with available tables. It occur to me as to why I haven’t Vern been here for a while. Their salsa and chips are always good, Chevelas is always good. We waited at least an hour for our food and when I got my plate it was cold. I touched the bottom of my taco and it seems like it’s been sitting out for a while. The corn tortilla is falling apart and the one I hated the most was the carne asada. It looks line it was boiled and then chopped up.

I can only be a fan of that place. Not only the food but also the atmosphere. It’s not so easy to write positive reviews where you are not«too» familiar nor expert in a given type of food… which is the case for me with Mexican food. But I have been to many Mexican restaurants and I must say that this particular one beats, to me, the 3 stars(average) I usually give. First, the drinks: That mix of beer lemon and tequila really got me into the mood. Excellent drink, not too sweet, not too sour, refreshing and quenching. The food… I had a bash with the combos(see my pictures) and the shrimps fajitas were awesome. Really the best shrimp fajitas I ever had. My mom is coming to visit me soon… and I’ll bring her there to have her try Mexican food for the first time.

The Best spot for Carnitas .in my opinion Now that being said. the other Pros: Super Chavelas. I just read a bunch of reviews. all accurate. Yes: self scribe your name on the waitlist(pros: because they’re always busy, my guests and i, were seated in minutes(Sunday) I don’t know anything about Al pastor’s or Nachos? The Super Taco’s are thee premier & true TLQPQ veterans know this. As for the service: like i prologued: they’re hella busy, bringing parties, Super Chavelas all daym day. My only delta /Dog pile on the server… my Bill for my guest & i totaled at 51.16(Chavela ®,(lrg) Horchata, 2(Super Chavelas) 3 Super Tacos(carnitas) &3 Carne Asda reg. Tacos .with sides(rice & beans) not tripping all delicious, my Conundrum began I paid Cash Exact 60.16 with the anticipation of Change, when the server came back she handed me some ones, Card. After reading my surprise on my face, she then quickly recovered, apologized and hopefully delivered it to its proper owner¿ the Riddle had me confused on not receiving my change, i then assuming it be at our table back to me shortly; it wasn’t I had time too bust out my trusty Tip calculator app. & divvied up the tip the server was getting about the amount that would return. So perhaps she Tipped herself? I’d like too concluded with a humanitarian reminder: its a restaurant & service, these people provide a service. They are not slaves. Just think for a second: its not always about you, the servers can be having a bad day. We, can be evil & rude when hungry, thats what they deal with everyday.
