I wanted a taco de buche and I got it! Draw back is cash only, but if you are looking for a good taco, then Lagos delivers! Truly, great taco!

This place is awesome, cheap, and fast. I never have a bad meal besides an occasionally burrito that’s too wet but that’s a 1 in 10 situation. I go here at least twice a week or more if I’m in the area. Currently its my favorite Mexican place in downtown San Jose. I try my best to only go when the main dude is there. There is a woman there, and also another gentlemen. For some reason when they work my food never seems to be made as well? I had a bad experience with them and now will only go while that one guy is working. Figure it out, it’s worth it. 5 stars!

It’s ok Good not great. Decent flavor. Tough meat though. Had the pastor. There is no reason for pastor to be tough.

On my never ending quest to find the best torta in San Jose, I happened upon this place, which was on the same block as where a couple of my friends lived. I recommend getting either or both the torta and tacos, as both items have fresh and spicy tasting ingredients. BTW, the torta bread they use is more of hoagie roll, but I’m not complaining.

Stay away unless you want to get sick. Totally blows because the first time I went there it was soo good then the second time I went the meat was probably bad because it was super salty. probably a poor attempt to disguise the bad meat. Then got hella sick blehhh

I had to do an update on this great needle in a haystack! I was in my old neighborhood not too long ago and remembered how good this Taqueria is. I thought to myself can it still be this good after not eating here for over 3 years? well the answer is YES!!! I just came in for 2 tacos because I just wanted a quick bite and they still continue to make quality Mexican food that doesn’t hurt your pocket. Don’t sleep!!!

Oh man!!! The best Buche tacos ever!!! For those of you who don’t know what Buche is… its pork and its the neck portion of the piggy! So good! Originally, my brother introduced me to this diamond in the rough! The owner is so awesome… so awesome I had to take a photo of him working his magic making my tacos :) Hes so nice and hes not cheap with the meat or ingrediants. The crazy thing is the tacos are so affordable and filling. I usually order 2 and I’m more than full. P. S. Location is kinda nuts, its located inside Grewal Liquors but trust me you will not be sorry! Oh yea, usually the tacos are so tasty I don’t even need salsa. REALLY… I eat them solo! NOMOMOM. So good!

Awesome burritos here! My bf and I go here for our burritos. The people there are very friendly and give you a lot of extra napkins/utensils. The price is regular as other burrito places, but the taste isn’t like anywhere else I’ve tried. They have this spice sauce that comes in the veg burrito I usually get and can I say yum. Big burritos, you get your moneys worth.

Delicious taqueria! The meat is tender and the ingredients are always fresh. And if you’re a fan of spicy foods, the spicy sauce is really good. It’s in a liquor store, so the hours are kind of unclear but nonetheless if you’re able to catch them while they’re open, the food here is yummy.

Great Mexican food with plenty of choices of ingredients that are very fresh. Only problem is sometimes they’re out of certain kinds of meat, and the tortillas could be better quality. Relatively cheap and Jose is a really friendly guy. One of downtown’s best kept secrets.

Riddle me this… where can you get a 40 oz, some M&Ms, a lotto scratcher and tasty Super Burrito? Well it’s gotta be a taqueria inside of liquor store, of course. I pass by a few liquor stores here and there in my neighborhood, but nothing as grand as this one. I mean come on, a taqueria inside a liquor store… only in San Jose. I ordered the $ 5 – 6 Super Burrito with carne asada and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised of how good the meat was. Really tender meat. I know it seems like a sketchy spot to have a taqueria, but you can’t knock it till you try it. Note: The taqueria only accepts cash.

Really good food made by nice people. Tacos and burritos are very good. I don’t know about the super versions, the regular size are big enough. The carne asada is awesome, not full of gristle and fat. The carnitas is also very good, not at all greasy and very tender. I almost thought it was chicken some of the best carnitas I’ve ever tasted. I have’nt tried the Al Pastor or the Pollo yet. Maybe today, I would’nt drive for miles to get here, but if you are in the neighborhood and hungry, it’s way better than super taqueria and chalatecos located down the street. As for the liquor store section, it’s very well stocked with everybody’s favorites as well as mine, Hamm’s 12 packs for less than $ 8.00 yesssss! The guys who run the liquor store are also very friendly and look forward to your business.

Ah– memories. I remember eating here at least three times a week when I lived on 9th Street. The tacos are super cheap so I practically lived off of those. They kept me alive when I could not afford much groceries. We used to joke about how the carne asada quesadillas came out wrapped in foil looking like Battle star Galactica. They are HUGE! Imagine salty, greasy carne asada laced with melted monterey jack. It’s a total gut buster. I recommend only eating it if you are recovering from the night before or if you are sharing with a friend.

I usually go here when I’m hungry and there’s no food in my apartment, since it’s right across the street from where I live. Yes, it’s located in a convenience store. The super burr(it)o w/carne asada is usually what I get. It includes meat, pinto beans, fresh avocado, sour cream, pico de gallo, and a generous amount of cheese, and hot sauce if you like it spicy. It’s very filling and surprisingly delicious. The guy puts a lot of pico de gallo, just the way I like it, a good amount of meat, and you can actually see and taste the melted cheese. It costs an even $ 5 so theres hassle of dealing with change. My roommate had the torta and he seemed to like it. Quesadilla’s good and cheesy, and my friend gets tacos here at least once a week. Only downside is that he closes early… around 8 or 9 pm. Last time I went in late, he was ready to go home with a burrito in his hand, which I assumed was going to be his dinner. I bought it from him. I felt kinda bad, but it sure was tasty. And I didn’t have to wait since he just made it. Definitely a good place to check out if you live close by!

Nestled in a corner of the Grewal Food and Liquor store, Taqueria Lagos de Moreno is another convenience store find(the store is pretty good too … some fresh veggies and soy milk in a liquor store is hard to find). Owned and operated by a nice gentleman, the taqueria offers tacos, burritos, tortas and quesadillas at cheap prices. With the requisite choices of meat(carne, pollo, pastor, lengua), and friendly service, the taqueria is not a bad choice for a taco on a Sunday afternoon. Everything is assembled fresh, so you may have to wait a couple minutes … in the liquor store … which is kind of odd. But how else would I have discovered the store’s extensive canned-food selection and small choice of fres fruits and veggies? The carne asada was tasty and filling – more than enough to eat for less than $ 2 a taco. The seasoning was good and the tortillas were fresh. It’s a quick and easy little joint just south of SJSU. It wasn’t spectacular, but it was cheap, tasty and filling. Can’t really ask for much more out of a makeshift kitchen in the corner of a mini-market. There can be lines around meal times as the place isn’t exactly a secret to the locals(hey, I’m talking about myself!). So, you might have to wait a sec, but it’s worth it for the value. Hooray for hidden taquerias in liquor stores!
