About time I wrote a review on this, as I’ve been getting street tacos from here for two years now. This isn’t an official anything — it’s just a taco cart that pulls up in the parking lot of Paul’s Quick Stop Liquor usually Friday and Saturday nights around 7 pm until 12 am. Sometimes Thursday and Sunday, but it fluctuates. There have been two vendors at this location since I’ve lived here. The first was this great man who grilled all the meat fresh and the tacos were the best I’ve ever had. I got curious seeing the huge lines every weekend. Unfortunately something happened to him, and now we have the second vendor. These are still damn good street tacos, and they are grilling meat more, but it isn’t the same. They still bring a line at certain times, which is impressive considering Tacomania is a block away. Prices remain very cheap. Tacos are about $ 1.50 — $ 2, and they also have burritos, and both flour and corn quesadillas. Meats also vary on when you get there and supply, but usually include pollo, carne, carnitas, pastor, cabeza, chorizo, and a bit rare is lengua, tripe, and cabra. Don’t be surprised to see people getting multiple plates to go, or getting a few tacos here and there while they eat next to the cart. I usually get 4 — 6 tacos depending on my hunger. The carne is small chopped and grilled, and has some great flavor. I like the pastor, though is a bit fattier. I love chorizo and they grill that as well. The marinated cabeza(cheek meat) is soft and tender, almost like brisket, and I like it to balance the sharp flavor of the chorizo. The chicken is also marinated and very tender. Lengua is lengua, they recently started doing tripe, and I haven’t asked about cabra in a while. NOTES: –Cash only, but there is an ATM in the liquor store, and you might as well grab a drink there while you wait. –The sauce has heat. It is delicious, but you might want to ask it on the side if you aren’t a fan of heat. –As the marinated meats are cooked in a marinade, it can weaken the tortillas, so you might want to eat those first.
