I should have read the reviews before going … a rocket visit and no solution to my health issue…

Dr. Slater’s office is definitely not a place that I would recommend. I usually do not mess with companies’ livelihood, but I had an awful experience with Dr. Slater’s office personnel — and some with him as well. His skills at being a family practitioner are not being questioned, he seems to be a very good doctor, and he seemed to know what he was talking about. I went in for an upper respiratory infection — due to a newborn at home and a wife who has yet to catch it, I asked him for antibiotics. He prescribed a ZPak to me, said he was prescribing another agent and an inhaler — spent a little bit of time with me and out I went. When I scheduled my appointment, the woman who answered the phone was AWFUL and had an awful attitude. I let it go. Then when I went to leave, I had a question, and the other woman had a scowl on her face and was basically rushing me out of the door. Then when I was sitting at the pharmacy for 2HOURS waiting for the other script to come through that was forgotten on the original script, I finally got a hold of one of his receptionists, and I told her that the doctor forgot to add a Rx to my list, and she said«i hope you’re not expecting this to get done today. I can’t guarantee anything.» she hung up on me. This woman is garbage. I spoke to Dr. Barry Slater in his office, and asked if he would be available to be my family’s Primary Care Physician, and he said yes of course, and that he is moving office — I told him that would not be a problem. – Fast Forward 3 days – My wife just caught what I had, along with my baby — just like I thought she would, which is the main reason that I asked him that question — so I had her call his office. They said that he is not accepting new patients?! That one pushed me off the edge and I almost flew through the roof, considering that my wife and I have no family out here to help with our now sick baby — because my wife has bronchitis which she caught from me and the baby — and she is freaking out because she has no help to take care of said 1 month old — only to get this disgusting woman to tell her — «nope, can’t come here — your husband can, but you can’t.» — obviously not verbatim, but this is what was told… Needless to say, I will NOT be seeing him again — and if he does not replace his staff, I think his awareness to his surroundings is greatly affected and it might be time to retire. I do expect an apology from him for how his staff treated my wife — who explained the situation to them — and to me, for how his staff acted with me. His missing the one prescription was an honest mistake that anyone could make. The way it was handled afterward by his staff and possibly him is what I am upset about.

Dr. Slater has always been there for me with the best advice and care. I have been using Dr Slater for over 10 years now and would have to say I will never leave. The front office staff and Nurse are always kind and understanding when they need to be. Thank You Dr Slater for many years of good health advise!!!

Dr. Slater has been my physician ever since I was 21. Working in small practice in West Gate Plaza provides personal attention and you don’t feel like a number as you would at much larger hospitals like Kaiser and Stanford. Every time I’ve had a medical issue he’s always shown genuine concern and always made the effort to follow up and make sure I was Ok. He’s become more than just a doctor to me but instead a family friend who takes care of our overall health.

Very patient, understanding and very fast appointments. Even front desk people are great.
