VERY generous portions of nigiri here that are very fresh as well. I usually get my sake(salmon), hamatchi(yellowtail), ono(super white tuna), and albacore(shiro maguro) here. Excellent quality of fish on my nigiri every single time I come here, and I come here very often(at least 2 – 3 times a month) I am HUGE fan of ono, which goes by several names: butterfish/super white tuna/escolar. This is the only sushi place I know in San Jose that carries this succulent, buttery fish!

You’ll miss this place if you’re not paying attention. The server was amazing. I was welcomed and seated. I went ahead and ordered the Godzilla Roll and the New York Roll. New York Roll was standard, nothing to complain about. The Godzilla Roll was what I really enjoyed. I thought prices were okay. Overall, a nice place to eat if you’re craving sushi and if you’re from around the area.

Had a hour and a half break for my sons’ rehearsal so we decided sushi sounded better than a sandwich. Nice variety on the menu and sushi roll selection. Place a little hole in the wall. Kids all ordered Bento boxes and I ordered avacado roll, spicy tuna and spicy California roll. The Bento boxes were plentiful. Rice, salad, orange slice, son got chicken katsu, others chicken teriyaki, all with California rolls. Fish was super fresh, yummiest sticky rice i have had in awhile and kids loved their Bento boxes. Nothing left over even considering how much they got. 5 lunches plus sodas and milk, $ 66! Will be back.

This review is so frustrating to write. In part because some of the food was actually good, but mostly because I’m simultaneously trying not to throw up. FOODPOISONING Pretty sure the culprit was the«pink dragon» roll. Inside of the roll was abysmal, outside was covered in poorly sliced avocado, and what initially looked like pretty good salmon. A few pieces in though, I noticed that the salmon was strangely gummy. It felt kind of slimy, and just not correct. This is a real shame, because the salmon nigiri was made with really nice, very fresh cuts of salmon. And the table next to me ordered the same roll, and received fresher salmon than I did. The California roll was a disgrace. Almost no filling, sloppily cut, and without any flavour. Oh, and the free Godzilla roll? You have to buy an entrée to get it. I spent $ 25 on sushi, and they wouldn’t give it to me, but they would have if I’d bought a $ 12 entrée. Ripoff. Will not be back, especially when there is better sushi on the next block over.

Place is small. Server was great and friendly. Great recommendation by out waitress. Sashimi cuts were nice and thick. Sushi pricing is normal in my eyes. This place doesn’t seem like a great place for 20+ but its great for 5 or less. Good job Chef! Okay I take it back they have two party rooms with a Tv and heater. You have to make reservation for rooms. Thanks for the tour!

I have been to numerous sushi places but never have I experienced such bad quality sushi as this place. I only say that because I believe they try really hard to be a high quality sushi when they clearly are not. It’s a cute little place next to San Jose City Hall which was nice because it’s close to SJSU. I thought it was gonna be a nice sushi find for when I am on campus and want to go get sushi with my friends. Unfortunately, I would never suggest this place. The place is small which made it even more awkward to have a conversation with your meal companion when no one is there but you. The waitress was nice. She was attentive but it seemed like she was the only waitress. Eventually more people came in towards the end of our dinner and it was harder to get her attention. We got 4 different rolls and they were all bad. I ordered the Golden Rainbow roll because it looked good in the Unilocal pics but it was not good at all. The presentation was sloppy and the fish was cut poorly. It looked like as if the sushi fell off the plate and they tried to rearrange it back on the plate again. Sorry, but I will not be back again.

I Unilocaled a sushi place with decent ratings around SJSU and found this place! If you park at the S 4th street parking garage nearby(the one right around the corner), they will validate it for you! The establishment was smaller than I expected. We were the only customers and were seated promptly. I checked in on Unilocal to find that you could get a free Godzilla roll only to find out that you have to order either an entrée or a sushi dinner combo in order to get the roll. Bummer. We ordered the tempura udon($ 10.95), this spicy roll I forgot the name of($ 13.95), and the OMG roll($ 16.95). The tempura udon was just okay. It didn’t really stand out in my mind. Same with the spicy roll. The OMG roll was probably my favorite roll. It contained mango, lobster, and macadamia nuts(which I asked for on the side). But even then the mango crunch roll at Kenzo’s tastes better. I think the rolls were bit on the pricier side considering the size of the rolls. The service was attentive and fast. But I don’t think this place would be my first choice in getting my sushi fix.

My wife and I came here 2 weeks ago during a cold day. When we got in the restaurant, it was just as cold as outside. No heater? We got our hot green tea, there was lipstick on the glass. The tonkotsu ramen was just extremely salty. Their sashimi was ok, same as everywhere else.

Friendly greeting right at the entrance by a lady who looked like the manager. Sat down and was given an adequate amount of time to order. Everything was going good until I received my food. I ordered the Tankotsu ramen because I saw it had bamboo shoots which I enjoy but to my surprise there were none at all. To make matters worse, I asked for water as we were ordering and were not given any at the time. We had to flag down the manager to ask for water as the waitress was not paying attention to us at all(there being 2 other couples at the restaurant who did not need any refills or help with anything). We finally got our water 5 minutes after our food reached our table. Food was okay but the service was terrible.

I was here for a small get-together for my gf’s birthday. We reserved a party room(8 – 10 people) about a week in advance. They have three available I think. Upon our arrival the room was ready for all the guests which was great. The gal that took our order was really nice, giving suggestions on sushi rolls and sake. She consistently checked on us to make sure everything was going smooth. We also got the free GODZILLA roll after showing ad on Unilocal to them. Towards the end, two workers came in with a green ice cream and candle on top to sing Happy Birthday to my girlfriend which was very unexpected but wonderful. Overall, it was a very positive experience, thanks to them that everything went just as planned. My only gripe was the autonomous tipping, which means tipped is included without the customers’ knowledge or consent. I would have tipped 20% any way but it would be nice to know about the tipping procedure in advance.

This is the first time i ordered in this restaurant, it will be the last time too. The food is terrible. I order salmon teriyaki and a roll, the roll tastes so bad and they put it in really bad box. Excuse me, delivered food needs to be good too. You can’t just throw everything in the box and don’t care of the look. So disappointed. By the way, i used dashdoor to order delivery food and they charge extra money for tip without asking my permission. @.@ be careful with that app.

This place is quite deceptive with their«free Godzilla roll.» We came here after a day in downtown San Jose and watching a movie at a nearby theatre. Upon seeing the offer on Unilocal,we thought it was too good to be true. It was. Apparently, you must order a minimum amount(or one of their«higher priced rolls») in order to qualify for the free Godzilla roll. We should’ve left at that, but we stayed and received the mediocre experience that we were hoping not to get. The Elaine roll was pretty good, but not *that* good. The gyoza were a little too fried and there was nothing Godzilla about the Godzilla roll. Deception surely comes at a price. The manager even contacted me claiming that the details were on the Unilocal app at the time; however, they were not. Guess this business isn’t so honest.

This place is horrible. My sushi roll had a fish scale in it. What a turn off! Fish was not fresh at all! The salmon was so light in color I had to look closely to see what kind of fish it was. It had an old fishy taste to it. All the rolls were drenched in sauce, and masked so u can’t see the bad quality of it. One thing that bothered me was that the girl who was behind the cashier who was on the phone somehow ended up near the sushi chef. She takes out the onions and uses her hands to put it in the roll. Wtf? Weren’t u just using your phone?! And why are you helping the sushi chef when we r the only ones in the restaurant? Unbelievable and unsanitary! Going home now to throw up this food because it’s not sitting well. Stay away from this place!

Just okay. Free sushi roll with a check in was not my favorite, but greatly appreciated. I had the salmon dish. The fish didn’t taste freshly cooked. The teriyaki sauce saved the meal. The salad was fresh and the miso soup tasted like most. The presentation of my meal was not a little sad looking. I would recommend using one of the boxes. The service was really great.

This place is a pleasant surprise!!! A hole in the wall I can only speak for to-go and chirashi. The chirashi was on the cheaper side so I wasn’t expecting much(ordered here out of convenience). HOWEVER, the chirashi was pretty good! With a good variety of sashimi selection, along with some unusual sashimi(pressed sashimi with fish roe?) that I haven’t had in the US! It was definitely a good deal! :D

Sushi was DELICIOUS here! Kind of in a sketchy part of downtown so I would only come during the day and not alone. Rolls were a great size, however a little pricier for the specialty rolls, but they’re worth it! Just for how divey it is, looks and feels, you wouldn’t think it is. so just a warning! Staff was very friendly and I’d definitely come back!

Only been here twice but the second time I came in they remembered what we liked the last time. So sweet. Both times we ordered different rolls except the super white tuna roll with the black fish roe. Ordered that both times. It’s crazy spicy and I’m a spice lover so I hearts it! I’m also a sashimi lover so I have to order the sashimi combo. Thick cuts of fish and super fresh. BOGO beer and sake before 7 during HH. Don’t forget to check in and get a free Godzilla roll. Love this place! Come here for HH, great sushi, and super sweet service. Don’t go to that Fuji Sushi down the street. Read my review. Eck!

Loved it here! I got the sushi regular spread, which consisted of KAPPA, MAGURO, SAKE, TAI, EBI, TAKO&TAMAGO!!! It was really good. Like total mouthgasm experience. I also had their rolls, and it is apparent that they use a much higher grade of fish for their nigiri and sashimi. The cuts were thick, but no too thick and covered a nice shape over the rice. Cut with skill! Godzilla roll is free if you check in on Unilocal,so definitely do that! Also, one of the girls I went with forgot to order her roll without imitation crab– totally her fault, and when she notified our server, the server gave her another roll without the imitation crab for free! It is this customer service which formulates a regular customer. Also, if you come with a party of 6 or more, you can sit in a back room that is Japanese style seating! Very cool I will be back whenever I am in town!

Came by for lunch the other day to this Chinese-owned Japanese-like restaurant in their private room. Having been to Japan, this is nowhere close to Japanese food… Upon arrival, our Chinese hostess brought our party to our private tatami room where we were able to keep our shoes on?!? .at least the private room had a TV with CNN in the background… Started off with the miso soup which was okay. The salad was also passable. The 3 item bento box was mediocre. The gyoza was fried and seemed to have been previously frozen and machine made… The tempura was lightly fried but was bland. …the beef teriyaki was tough and rather«yucky» The rolls were okay. …nothing spectacular besides the price?!? Service was spotty as our waitress disappeared for quite some time that made paying for the bill a challenge…

Seven Seas Sushi was our regular sushi spot when I worked in Downtown San Jose. There was one week that we came in every day. That’s not to say it was so good that we had to have it. But it hit the sushi craving spot and is better quality than the other places close by. That being said, their rolls are good, but their service is really inconsistent. There were times when the food came out in a timely manner, but more often it took a really long time, especially when there are multiple rolls. We were dining in one of their tatami rooms and at one point we thought they forgot about us. Our order was incomplete and they never brought the missing items. Which is a bummer because they have some innovative rolls. A few of our favorites have been the Elaine roll(love the ikura), Yummy Yummy(salmon and lemon), Golden Rainbow(deep fried scallops), and Dragon Boat. Also love the free Godzilla roll when you check in with Unilocal.I actually have never had a Godzilla roll until I had it here. Their bento boxes are pretty standard. Nothing phenomenal, but better than most If I am back in the area, I would probably still come here on a regular basis with very low expectations of the service.

You know what it feels like to be poorly disappointed? If not, you should take a trip to Seven Seas Sushi. If so, then you know you don’t even want to step inside. Especially on a date night, or if you suggest it to friends. Which is exactly what I did. Now I am no longer allowed to choose restaurants. Boo. I had seen good reviews on Unilocal, and then had a friend suggest we try it. So we did. And now I question every good review I’ve read. Here’s why: We sat down, ordered drinks, and I checked in on Unilocal for my free Godzilla roll. That came, and it was tasty, I must say. Not my favorite choice(as it is tempura), but it was good(and it was FREE). So we ordered two rolls, and our friends ordered two rolls. My girlfriend asked our server to make sure there was no topiko on their rolls, and she was assured there was not. They delivered three rolls, our two, and one of theirs. Surprisingly, there was THREETYPES of topiko on their roll. THREE. I mean, how do you get that wrong? Even when you’re delivering it you can see it’s on there and send it back. When my friend looked at it, the waitress kind of gave her a half-assed, «Would you like me to get you a new one?» She did. So now we have our two rolls while they’re just sitting there waiting for theirs. Oh well, we can move on. We had ordered the Pink Dragon roll, and the Rainbow roll. I’ll start with the rainbow roll(see my photos). The California roll inside was disgusting. The crab meat was flaking apart it was so dry. The rolls did not stay together even just standing on the plate. There was minimal avocado inside, which made it even more dry. Then I tried the Pink Dragon roll. Notice my photo, it is supposed to be «shrimp» and other ingredients. To my surprise, when it is delivered, it is shrimp tempura. I had checked other menu items to be sure that maybe they just didn’t write tempura on any of them. Sure enough, all the other ones say shrimp tempura. I completely dislike shrimp tempura, and after trying one piece, was done. I left starving. After $ 60. Ridiculous. Not to mention, they knew the trouble we had, and didn’t even bother to give us a discount, or possibly even APOLOGIZE. Nothing. Also worth mentioning, there were TWO other tables in the entire restaurant. After we paid I brought the menu up to the managers(or what appeared to be managers/owners), and mentioned our problems. They just looked at me and said«Okay.» You can see from my other reviews that it is REALLY hard to disappoint me. I typically will give everyone the benefit of the doubt when it comes to reviewing. But this just cannot be helped. DONOTEATHERE. You will be disappointed.

Let me ask you something… Do you like spicy food? Great! Now, do you value your stomach lining? Because there’s a roll here that’s made with raw slices of what was crowned the world’s hottest pepper and if you enthusiastically answer yes to the first question, you may be served that roll not knowing you’re actually getting something much, much deadlier than your standard sushi-level version of spicy. I love spicy food. I’m always quick to order any ghost pepper dish and in pretty much every case, a regular person’s 5-alarm mouth fire is like my basic ground black pepper but I was not ready to unknowingly consume the world’s hottest pepper on my work lunch break with my intern(you’re a trooper, Jon!) Don’t get me wrong, we very much enjoyed our gut-busting experience here, but when you serve sushi with slices of the world’s hottest pepper, it might be helpful to mention that detail in a way that makes it more of a headline statement than a veiled, swept under the rug type question like, ‘Do you like spicy?’. Because sure, I like spicy, but I lean towards a nonplussed feeling when it comes to having to worry about my butthole blowing out in the middle of a long work day. But beyond that, we had a pretty great experience here. The rolls were beautiful and the menu is HUGE. Their online menu doesn’t have sh*t on their IRL menu. It’s legit a novel and everything sounds spectacular. We watched the pictures go by on the menu slideshow above the bar area and wanted everything, but settled on just order about 10 times more than we should have. The rolls were all large and fantastic– not your basic bitch’s sushi menu by any means. Fresh ingredients, expertly curated rolls — all good things. They’re pretty damn liberal with the cuts of their nigiri. It could def be a choking hazard sort of scenario with each nigiri piece being something you’d have to apply 3 – 4 bites to. I’m not one to complain about getting more for less, but it was almost too gratuitous an amount of fish… like, it didn’t seem as special with their being sooo much of it there. The staff are funny and they work as a great team. Even with their loco spicy suggestion, it’s hard not to love them. They were on our tea service like whoa and when our order took longer than expected(we didn’t even notice) they brought us out some complimentary edamame and miso soup. I’d absolutely go back, but I’d bring a few more people since the rolls and I’d love to work my through their extensive menu.

Oooo, weee! Delicious, ichiban!!! I loved the food, so good. Our party ordered: –Seven seas don –Beef teriyaki, spicy tuna roll combo –Teriyaki salmon, spicy tuna roll combo –Gyoza, sashimi combo(was supposed to have Saba) –spicy miso ramen –salmon skin roll –uni –free Godzilla roll with checkin So, we got a nice helping. I pretty much recommend everything we ordered. It was all delicious. Tips: ° make a reservation on Unilocal business page ° be persistent The problems we had all stemmed from them being understaffed. There was 2 waitresses that seemed very stressed. They missed a couple things from our order. Suggestions for business: + get at least one more person on board (If not): + leave water pitchers and/or tea kettles at each table because man, I was thirsty and this area was majorly lacking after we already asked for water and didn’t receive any. + have wasabi and more sauce plates available at each table + double check the order with customers — we didn’t get the Saba we wanted for one of our main entrees, no rice for another, and no water Nonetheless, thank you for a good night. Just those little tweaks will make the experience seamless. If those don’t change, I suggest people pop a patience pill before they come here. Nice people here at seven seas!
