Sendo Sushi

«JAIN SUSHI!!» Yes you heard me correct. Being a jain I never imagined a vegetarian sushi let alone jain sushi. But upon high recommendation of a colleague at work I landed here for lunch. And to my surprise I was attended by very patient and humble lady, her name is Sunny and she listened to all my restrictions and assured me that she will get a Bento Box for me exactly the way I described. For those who dont know what is bento box, it is analogous to indian thali. Bento box has few veggie rolls, tofu and stir fried veggies, rice, veggie tempura and salad. The best part is they provide me with separate chili sauce without onions and garlic so that I dont feel that my meal is bland. And to my surprise this ended up being the best asian food I have ever had. Since then I have become regular customer here and everytime I go in I just have to ask for my special order and it will be prepared exactly same each time.

I absolutely love this sushi place! It has great rolls and good sized sashimi plates. The mizo soup is rich and flavorful and the edamame is steamed well.

This is a typical sized sushi restaurant but able accommodate the hungrier of groups! We had 9 guys come down for a business trip and although I had not been here, they convinced me it was WORTH IT! To be short and simple, 12 rolls was not enough.

We came to this place for dinner after we heard from our friend about this place.
We order two sushi rolls, tofu and gyoza. Honestly, we were disappointed with the quality of the food. The fried tofu and gyoza both very greasy. The sushi rolls were both very salty. After taking a few bites, we feel so thirsty and the waitress was nowhere to be found to ask for refilling of our tea.
The environment is very noisy with the sushi chefs kept yelling loudly about which tables’ food is ready. Not at all a classy place.
Not quite a fan

This place is damn good. You have to try their sushi and teriyaki chicken they are the best. Every time I have gone I have eaten too much because it’s that good.

Came here with some coworkers for a birthday and going away dinner. We had a party of seven people. And let me tell you, this place isn’t a very large, but they accommodated our large party and immediately welcomed us in. And as we sat down they didn’t waste any time to get our drink and meal orders in. Our server was so efficient with making sure we had all we needed and kept our water cups filled up. She even came by to chat it up with us about whose birthday it was and brought ice cream for the entire party :)
The food was pretty good and had good portion sizes (our party ordered a mixture of bento boxes and sushi rolls). A place I would come back to again! But one thing to note is that they are only open on weekdays. They are closed on the weekends due to the fact that they mostly cater to the businesses in the surrounding area.

Amazing food! Try the plum wine and heart attach appetizer. It’s amazing if you like spicy food. Homely staff and great personalized service. Live the fruit piece they send out with the check.

Ive been here a couple times and every time the food has been really good. I don’t eat seafood so all I get is the teriyaki chicken entrée. The soup is good, the salad tastes fresh. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is they’re fast with getting your food but you literally have to chase them down to get your check at the end. It’s like they forget you need your check to leave.

Nice, big rolls and makis. Fish was fresh and delicious and service was responsive. No complaints.

Overpriced for the sushi. Around $ 15+ each for an average roll with very little fish in it. Been here twice, and each time — disappointed.
I give two stars for the friendly service. Otherwise I will not be back for sushi. I rather go next door for some Subway. Js!

M-​F business lunchers make this place a madd house! As a result the servers are frazzled all the time and mixed up our check with another person’s check which was inconvenience and grounds for –1 star.
Recommend if you’re in the area and willing to deal with the bustle.

I have been going to Sendo for years during my SJC visits. They were slow before the Levi stadium was built so stay away during large events at the stadium. Service staff is friendly and they can get overwhelmed at times since they do a pretty significant take out service. We had to flag down the server several times but once we got our order in, the food came out very fast. There are many other similar restaurants in this area but I find that Sendo has the best taste quality. Their sushi rolls are one of the best I have tried. My favorite is the bento combos where you can pick an assortment of entrees.

Went out to lunch here with some coworkers; we ordered one sushi roll to split and we each got our own Bento boxes. The service was attentive and helpful, despite the busy lunch-​rush. The restaurant was also perfectly fine with us splitting the check equally among all of our credit cards — which is always appreciated when going out with a group of people.
I want to mention that if I come back here I will only ever be getting the Bento Boxes. Their fish is just not fresh, which leads to a disappointing sushi experience. The roll we split wasn’t very good, due to the fish. And the sashimi I chose for one of my Bento box options was horrible — the tuna was not fresh at all and I couldn’t finish it.
But, the rest of the Bento box was quite good. Their teriyaki chicken was good and a friend seemed to quite enjoy his pork katsu. The salad that came with the Bento was also quite tasty.

So much disappointment. I used to work near japan town and Kubota was my go-​to for a delicious lunch bento. Now that I work on North 1^st I have been trying to find a decent place for a bento and still no luck. I had the beef and tempura. I also ordered scallop nigiri. Scallop nigiri was excellent. Fresh, gigantic scallops with a little tobiko on top. Yum. Bento fell flat. They asked me how I wanted the beef cooked and I always do medium rare. It was well done. The tempura was mostly batter. Like it had to be double coated or something. Blehhh. The salad was good cause they use romaine instead of iceberg lettuce, but you don’t order a bento for the dang salad. Maybe I’ll come back to try the sushi since the bento was no bueno. The search continues!

Had a GREAT lunch at Sendo Sushi. Was in town as my wife was working in San Jose and I needed some sushi. I Unilocaled sushi and went to the nearest place without even researching it. And OMG– did I score.
This place was in a strip of small restaurants. It is very tiny. The décor is simple. One wall has some cool pictures. Another is covered in pictures of people that have dined there previously. The front is glass looking out to the parking lot and the back is the actual sushi bar with the kitchen behind that. Nothing fancy. But the food!!!
I ordered the chicken teryaki bento box. It came with a huge salad with carrots, cabbage and japanese dressing. It also came with the biggest california roll I have ever seen. Pieces that were so big, I almost couldn’t fit them in my mouth! (almost…) Then there was a huge portion of Teryaki chicken. and a big ball of sticky rice. There was also a big orange piece for dessert. Not knowing how big this bento box would be, I also ordered a couple pieces of sushi salmon.
So how was it? Well, let me tell you– it was fantastic! The salad was fresh and cold and the dressing was very tasty. The chicken had a slightly crispy outside, but was SOOOO tender and juicy on the inside. The Teryaki sauce was absolutely delicious. The California roll was so fresh, from the avacado to the crab. Most sushi restaurants’ Calirfornia rolls are all rice with very little of anything else. This chef did NOT skimp on the good stuff. Even the orange was delicious– it was so ripe and juicy. And it’s December! How did they do that?
The sushi was equally remarkable. Huge piece of very fresh salmon with sweet, perfectly cooked sushi rice.
And the service was great. There were lots of servers and they were so friendly. I didn’t want to leave! Such a great experience. If you are in the neighborhood or work close by and you’re thinking you are going to pass this place up because it looks small and you’re not sure about it– just go in. You can thank me later.

I think this place is decent for your quick sushi fix. The place inside is really small so it can get busy as lunchtime. We usually order our orders to go and enjoy our meals in prison, I mean, at our desks back at work. The rolls are decent here and the prices are pretty average. I would say they are good for your quick sushi fix, but thinking about it, I’ve never said «I’m in the mood for Sendo Sushi.» It was more of a «What are you hungry for?» «I don’t know. let’s just go get some Sendo. it’s close.»
