Customer service goes above and beyond!!! Today I had a sleeping preschooler in cart(getting sick) and there was a gentleman bagging that went out of his way to grab an extra shopping cart to help me out to my car! I come here at least 2 times per week. Have never had a bad experience at this store! It’s not the newest but has a good variety of everything. Love Safeway!!!

The worst customer service in pharmacy, one register, a whole 10 people in line and a had hour wait to pick up prescription. In knowledgable staff and unprofessional will never use them again

Overpriced. Small. Poor selection of products. Staff is inattentive. Bums everywhere. If this is your only nearby grocery store, limit what you get to the necessities.

Wow… bought these pita chips yesterday and as I was eating them today I noticed they expired almost a month ago… How disgusting! Do none of you check the expiration dates on food??? That is not only disgusting but can be dangerous! Never going back to this place and will be calling management.

No buttermilk and other ingredients needed. I know it is the holiday season but really! There are 50 kinds of pumpkin spice, peppermint coffee creamers, milk alternatives– there was even goat milk… no buttermilk…

The lines here are horrible and the self-checkout lanes aren’t the best either. When I came here, half of the self-checkout lanes weren’t working and apparently it’s hard to use it. Tip: if you don’t know how to use the self-check out, you shouldn’t be in this area because you’re holding everyone else who knows how to use it. Parking lot is congested too so be aware of that.

Before, I would only come to this Safeway if I knew I needed some«obscure» ingredients that the Market, by Safeway, which is closer to me, didn’t have. Now that I’m getting tired of the limited selection at the market, I’ll probably start making the trip to this one instead. On the outside, this Safeway looks really magnificent. They have these unique signs constructed on the corner of the building, and it actually looks like something you would see from a different time period, or at least definitely not in San Jose. On the inside, this is just a typical Safeway, with no exceptional selection. One thing I do not like is how there are always strange characters(who appear to be addicted to drugs) hanging out just inside the entrance on those electric cart things. Is this a meet up for buying/selling drugs? It makes no sense… Anyway, I still plan to come here for my groceries. Maybe I’ll just try to enter through some other door.

I’ve always had pretty good experiences here. Yes, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but I try to go in the daytime. And they do have a security guard, so that’s nice. I’ve always had great customer service from the cashiers and baggers. Very nice & friendly. My only negative would be that they rarely have carts in the designated cart area inside.

Got my flu shot. Glad to be done with that. My how time flies. Hard to imagine that a year has gone since my last flu shot. I am thankful that I do not suffer any negative reaction to the shot.

I know that this Safeway has been around longer than the dinosaurs, but you’d think after all this time they would have this whole«grocery store» thing down. When you walk into the store through the parking lot you will be warmly welcomed by their greeters, oops I meant to say accosted by tweakers. Once you get inside the security guard stares you down so hard it makes you feel like you’re doing something wrong and makes your heart frown. As far as selection, I will admit that they have food, small vegetarian sections(in two different places) and some ethnic food. The deli is a disaster. The staff takes forever and doesn’t pay attention to who is next in line, meaning they will help someone who just showed up before someone who has been there for 45 minutes for a ¼ pound of turkey. Lastly, no matter what time of day there are ridiculous lines. I’ve been here at 3:00 in the morning and had to wait in a line with 5+ people are queued up. Even though this Safeway is in walking distance, I prefer to hop in my car and travel the 5 minutes it takes to get to the Hamilton Safeway.

This is a rough Safeway. I got a sandwich at the deli today. First, they ran out of focaccia bread. Then when I go to checkout they tell me the soda machine is broken and the I have to pay more for a bottles soda. Why should I have to pay more because they didn’t get their soda machine fixed? Then she says I can take a cup and that the ice machine works at least. Then she proceeds to tell me it will cost me 25 cents. So I have to pay because your machine is broken? No thanks.

This place is disgusting, twice in the past two months I bought ANGUSGRASSFED beef patties and both times they were spoiled and smelled disgusting. Today I get a loaf of bread and notice the bag was bitten into on the side and part of the loaf of white bread was nibbled on. What’s worse than employees not caring and letting rotten meat items stay on shelves is having a RODENT problem in the back where food is kept. This place is disgusting and should be ashamed of themselves. I hope the store manager sees this, thank god for the Willow Glen location down the street apologizing for THEIR mistakes and offering every time to make it right. If you care for your health And the health of your family, don’t shop here at this Safeway. If you don’t, eat at McDonalds, it’s much cheaper and at least they don’t have rats.

Came by the other day to buy a few Arco Gift cards and was honked at by some rather arrogant driver trying to get into McDonalds?!? The self-checkout line was a few people long and my purchase did require it to be verified by a Safeway employee… and my ID checked too?!? …the Safeway is in a rather sketchy part of town… eek!

The store itself is clean, well stocked, with really friendly employees that work hard. So if you want a Safeway for this reason and live close to downtown, it’s good for picking something up quick. My complaint, however, is slightly in the management of this store. The sandwich area takes so long, I just go for the soup in the end. As someone that works nearby, I’m sure I’m not the only one that comes in here during a lunch break. With the attendants having a line and only one person making food, my hour lunch turns into 30 minutes of waiting before I’m finally out of the store and able to eat. And that’s with just waiting my turn, having it made, and then grabbing a quick snack before I leave. I remember when the sign used to say the food would be free if it was not made in 3 minutes but it looks like they took it down. They really need to increase the amount of people that can help around so it moves faster. If you want a sandwich, the nice ladies at Togo’s can do it faster because they have enough help. The ones at Safeway — I feel sorry for since they have to man the pizza area, hot food, and sandwich counter alone.
