Time and time again I find myself always trying to give this place another go(esp. every time they change owners). For more than 3 years straight, this place still has me severely disappointed. Seriously though? How the hell did this place get so many stars? There has always been huge discrepancies in the quality of the food. From the marinades the kitchen used for the meat in their rice dishes to their phở broths, it would range from bland one day to overly salty, or too oily the next. Sure, you can customize your order of phở with add ons, but one of the key components is the quality and the deliciousness of the broth — — - if that’s what you’re looking for, this in NOT your place. There has been countless times that the meat cuts in the rice plates had way more fat than meat. Their ‘nem’ was a mix of shriveled and burnt. Their sauce, egg rolls, to pickled side salad; all incredibly bland, limp and or lacked texture.

My weekly lunch spot! I love this place for their rare steak phở and chicken phở. A small bowl will cost me about $ 9, which is a bit more than what I am accustomed to spending on a bowl of phở. The broth is tasty and the condiments on the table are always filled. I love getting a fresh plate of bean sprouts, lime, jalapeños, and basil(that is not brown and wilted). The servers are nice, probably some of the nicest I’ve ever met at a Phở restaurant. The restaurant itself is fairly large and clean, except for when they get backed up with clearing the tables for the lunch crowd. The bathrooms are also well kept. But overall, I am a fan and recommend you give it a try!

Decided to walk in here was craving some phở. As I walk in staff was friendly and greeted me right away. The floor was super slippery almost slipped. So sat down and started to look at the menus food looked good but before I could order I decided to use the rest room. It was so grows looking and dirty. Dead cockroaches in the floor by the toilet. After seen that I lost my appetite I could not find my self eating there after seeing the dead cockroaches. It just looked too dirty just because it was painted nice and had nice art work hanging on the wall does not make it clean.

*Warning* vegetarian at this restaurant does not mean without animal products… the«vegetarian» soup is make with chicken broth. I wouldn’t consider a meal made with chicken broth vegetarian… also the soup is a bit oily

Good food and great staff!!! I go here at least once a week for lunch. The sandwiches are very fulfilling. The beef stew really hits the spot. I especially enjoy the avocado smoothie with lychee. It’s my absolute favorite treat.

Probably one of the best beef broths I have ever tasted in San Jose. I ordered the house special and the broth was super flavorful. Definitely a good place to come!

I have looked for fresh good and fresh beef Vietnamese Phở Tai for sometime, finally found this place with good quality beef, not the frozen tasteless beef noodle soup. The restaurant is clean, good service, and very tasty good beef noodle soup. Today I had ordered the house combination small size beef noodle soup, yummy, yummy !!! I definitely will come back again.

I honestly do not know how this restaurant has so many stars. When I went in(around 6pm on a weekday) the place was trashed. It looked like no one had bothered to clean up after the lunch rush.(AT6pm) There were tons of tables with left over plates and half eaten food on them that still hadn’t been cleared. There was NOONE in the restaurant when I arrived and only one couple when I left. I realize it’s habitual for most restaurant owners to bring water to the table but I ordered a coke and she brought me a glass of water(which I generally don’t even drink) the coke never arrived. At one point they were doing some cleaning in the back and the whole place filled with the smell of garbage which was NOT appetizing in ANY fashion. The soup was ok(rare steak phở) but I honestly couldn’t keep my appetite with the fowl smell. The bathroom was grotesque and I definitely will not return. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Phở and eat it regularly but I would MUCH rather frequent Phở Wagon, Phở 24, and LeQuy and eat in a fresh and clean environment.

The place makes solid food. We had the chicken with saffron rice, veggie vermicelli(tofu and egg roll) and veggie noodle soup. Everything was good, generous and fresh. The service was really friendly and so helpful when my toddler daughter spilled a cup of ice water all over herself and the floor. The only thing I would say needs improvement is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. They’re not bad, but they could be better.

After class, I always find myself coming here for a big bowl of hearty Bun Bo Hue. It’s a very ligh broth that doesn’t leave oil behind on the lips and the meat isn’t chewy– an indication that the meat is freshly cooked. I always ask for a side of chili sate to spicen up the broth so this is perfect for those who don’t work well with spicy food; it’s buildable if you would like to add your own element to it yet perfect on its own. The restaurant itself is very clean compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose and the décor is well thought out. I really can not stop stressing how clean, well-lit, and«fresh» the restaurant is. It gives me the comfort to know that the food is just as «clean» because of how light yet flavorful the broth is. To add, I’ve brought my boyfriend here and his loves the eggrolls because it is crispy, not oily, and the wrap for it isn’t so thick it takes away from the contents inside. A definite recommendation(:
