Performance Physical Therapy

There should be a "minus 5 star selection. The owner is operator. The only one qualified to do serious therapy. He is constantly interrupted by staff who seemed to have been hired yesterday and will quit tomorrow because of Mr. micro manager who wants to save money by not having proper staff.

This is place is barely adequate. The exercises they gave me are helping, and I appreciate the electro-​stim and ultrasound. Most PTs don’t offer that (is that because its efficacy is questionable? I don’t know). However, this place runs like a badly managed factory. Sometimes there are four patients using the exercise room at once, which would be fine if the PT assistants could handle four people at once. The assistants, who administer the exercises, would lose track of where I was in my routine, get me confused with other patients, and give me contradictory information from visit to visit. The paper covers on pillows and exam tables are often absent, seldom changed. Gross.

I was shocked to read the prior reviews. Right across the street from this so-​called run down building are million dollar homes that are over 100 yrs old so I personally wouldn’t call it ghetto-​like. The facility is clean and the therapists are really nice. They treated my frozen shoulder and chronic low back pain and now I have pain free days! I never once had a problem with billing and I always kept a receipt of my co-​pays. The longest I ever had to wait to start an appointment was about 5 minutes. Just thought this place needed a more current review.

Had a problem with my foot. Not any more they found my hip was causing the problem. Great job. All better but still going to keep exercising.

Facilities are a bit run-​down. Therapists were pleasant, although the therapy did not improve my pain.
But the one star review is due to the billing NIGHTMARE that this place has been. My therapy crossed from december to january, at which time my insurance changed. On the first appointment in the new year I provide them the new insurance information, made a copay, everything seemed fine. Six months later, Performance Physical Therapy billed me for the full amount of the treatment. When I called, they were argumentative and said I had not provided insurance information (which was false). I provided the insurance information again, and a month later I got a bill for a $ 20 copay. I had made copays on every visit, so this was also an incorrect bill, but for $ 20 I figured «screw it, just pay it so it will go away.» So I did. But I kept getting billed for it, and then started getting calls from a bill collector («BME»).
So I called them again and they said they had not received the payment and asked me for a reference # with my billpay service so they could track it. I gave them the billpay reference # and the billlpay company contact information (as well as confirming that the payment had been made, and to the correct name & address). (And this is a reputable national bank; they don’t loose payments, and they do answer their phone.)
A few weeks later they call me and say they were unable to track the payment, and could I please give them the check# from my billpay service. I said no, the only number the bank gives me is the reference number I had already given them. I also told them in no uncertain terms that I had in fact paid them — in person and again via billpay because they had lost the records from my visit — and that I had given them the billpay company and reference number if they needed to follow up, and thus my responsibility was completed. I told them not to call me again, and to call off the collection agency. Naturally, both they and the billpay company continue to hound me for the $ 20.
Screw them. I’m going down to their office and handing out copies of this story.

I didn’t like this place at all. First off it’s location is in a really old building on the 5^th floor in the ghetto-​est part of DTSJ. The facility is extremely old and outdated and smells bad. Parking is retarded at best. I came early to my appointment and ended up waiting for nearly 45 minutes until they saw me. The therapists seemed nice but hindsight they turned out to be non-​caring, inexperienced, and not very professional. They had a lack of exercises compared to other PT places. The worst was after 1 session they called me and said my insurance denied my PT this was because they didn’t even try to get authorization. There staff is lazy. I asked to send me all the info in an email that was covered in my initial session so I can have it for my records they never sent it. I highly recommend you DO NOT go here for any reason.
PS. I fractured my talus bone rock climbing and needed massive PT on my right ankle.
