As you can tell this is not a huge park, but never the less it is still a park. I have been here a couple of times, but for different reason that you might think. They have what is called the Zombie-O-Rama during the month of August, which is a fun time. My kids do enjoy coming here and seeing all the people dressed up. I am going to comment on the park itself. The park has been through some transformations over the past few years, and now it is a great place to host a small but fun events. This is a great place to hang out and relax, but not a great place to let dogs run around, as there are too many cars.

It’s on the fringes of downtown and out of the way enough from whatever’s going on further in to not bother whoever’s in charge. So it’s a good place for spontaneous stuff like musicians hanging out to jam and attract a few others driving by to stop and watch.

Not a «real» park where you can take your kids to play but I think they hold events every now and then and yesterday was the second Thursday that I saw about 3 or 4 food trucks so that might be the regular thing to do from now on. They fixed it up recently and it’s a nice spot, too bad it has heavy traffic all around.

The park has been reborn. It is now wider with landscaping and benches rather than walls and an area for a stage. In the summer there will be movies played against a wall across the street. It has changed the whole feel of the South First area. Kudos to 1stAct Silicon Valley for spearheading this effort and to Garden City Construction for overseeing the renovation.

Although this park is very very small and looks like it could be someone’s front lawn, it’s very easy to find and served as a great rally point for the 2009 Zombie-O-Rama, zombie crawl. There was enough space to set up a few tables and sponsored tents as people awaited their free zombie minimal make-up application. This would be a good place to meet up with a group before you head to the slew of bars on South First and parking is about 1.5 blocks away beneath 280 on 2nd& Reed, one of the last FREE after 6pm lots left in San Jose.
