Pan dulces are excellent but they are always out of tamales. Service is slow and they use one register to ring up and other to take the money/credit card. They are open late and pan dulces are always fresh.

Me and my little family love this place. We usually go in the night to satisfy our sweet bread craving :) my favorite bread is the pink cookie sprinkled with powder and the pumpkin, so delicious! Great place not to many of them on the south side And this location isn’t to far from me which is why I’m there all the time… lol

BADSERVICE– Ok, well the fly problem has continued at times that i have gone. However, today I went and was in a hurry and there was one person in front of me in line. The girl was helping him and it was taking forever because he asked her to make him a shake. I was waiting and waiting and she never called anyone else to come out to help me! The owner came out and noticed me standing there and didn’t bother to help me either. I could hear employees in the back but no one cared to come out and help. Rude service! Ignoring the customer! So, i got tired of waiting and walked out without being helped and I took off pretty mad. I like their bread but they have been disappointing me so i won’t be going back. Thank god they are not the only Panaderia around!!!

Gotta try the little corns! I love coming to this place but for some reason I only crave getting this place at night lol I suggest coming early because they run out of stuff fast. I want to give this place 5 stars because the workers here work hard and get you in and out fast thanks ortiz.

Family owned bakery! Food is delicious. Bread is always fresh and they’re very reasonable! On the weekends there’s usually a line out the door! The area it’s located in is not the best but you just get your food and go.

I don’t know any of the names of the breads, but let me tell you… It doesn’t matter. Get anything, and I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. The BEST Mexican bread I have ever had. I LOVE the one shaped like a crescent. Just the right amount of a «pink» taste.

Hands down the best panaderia in San Jose! Their pan dulce is always fresh and tasty, and their bolillos are always nice and soft and never bland. The parking spaces are limited and depending on what time of day you go there might be a wait, but it’s all worth it if you’re in the mood for sweet bread.

Tight parking and small shop. I think I build up a sweat just waiting in line in there haha. They have the cutest elote shaped bread. So cute. Haven’t seen it anywhere else yet.

I ordered the tamales de pollo and they were so delicious! It was only three dollars as well. The ladies only speak Spanish but are so sweet and the food is great. There are tons of delicious looking baked goods that I will definitely be going back for.

The mexican bread here is soooo delicious !!! I live in Santa Clara and i will drive all the way here just to get my bread. 1. The are by far the FRESHEST bread in San Jose ! 2. Price wise you can’t go wrong, $ 10 can get you a bunch of bread. 3. Service is excellent, even though i don’t speak a word of spanish they are fast, and help the customers. There is usually a few girls to make the line go fast. 4. 2 ** stars on the parking ! It sucks. 5. You might see a line but it goes fast.

This is a great little Panaderia. The pan is delish. SOOO so good. I went with 10 dollars to get treats for my work and probably walked out with 25 items? The ladies are nice enough and were happy to correct my spanish(politely) when I used the wrong tense/verb(always!). You do have to go early in the morning as this is a popular place. Everything is made that day. They also have specialty mexican prepackaged treats. They are fine with you not speaking English, pointing works just fine. Bring cash is you plan on spending less than $ 10. Yes, parking is a nightmare as it is a rather popular little TINY stip mall. Yes, it is on Seven Trees but going toward Senter not toward Monterey. Right across from the 7 – 11. You are in and out and on your merry way with your yummy pan

Don’t fret, the bakery is right off of Capitol Expy. so you won’t have to drive deep down 7 Trees. I love how two entire wall areas of the bakery are displays of various baked goods. I care not that service preferably speaks Spanish – I come prepared with my cash and merely point to the items I want. You can use plastic here, but you have to spend at least $ 10 and well, you can feed a whole lot of people with $ 10 worth of pan. Seriously. I got like, six pieces of breakfast items and my bill was only $ 3.95. I felt like I scored or something. Anyway, I’m starting to make this place a weekly thing because I’m getting tired of cold cereal. Plus, the items pack well for work and instead of just a greasy paper bag for your pan, you also get a plastic one too! Woo.

i remember riding my bike through the dirt lot where this panaderia now stands to get to the 7 trees library when i was a kid. for some reason, i have been in a lot of my old stomping grounds lately. anyways, i didn’t think that there was a panaderia in the area that could step up to pink elephant. i was wrong. panaderia ortiz not only compares, it sometimes surpasses the champ of all champs. the line is hella long to get bread from here but it’s well worth the wait. the girls here DO speak english, but if you are gonna be bitchy that they don’t, then you shouldn’t be going into a panaderia. i will definitely be going to this spot when i’m back in the old hood.

My whole family enjoys this bread. The only problem with this place is that parking isnt that great and its always crowded… be prepared to wait about 10min to get 5 pieces of pan dulce. They do only speak spanish but do attempt to accomodate those that do not speak the language. Overall if you want great bread at a cheap price go here :)

Want to gain 10 pounds in a hurry without trying? Eat pan dulce(Mexican sweet bread), or «pan» on a daily basis for more than a week. It’s soooo good. Probably one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. They don’t speak English, and my Spanish is limited to what I remember from high school Spanish classes(virtually nothing), but luckily my fingers are still able to point in various directions and I’ve retained how to say the numbers, «please» and«thank you” — all you really need here. The pink or yellow crescent-shaped sweet breads are the best(so are the log-shaped ones), and there’s no different in taste between the pink and yellow that I can tell(but the pink ones are prettier). Now that I think about it, they aren’t entirely«pink» or «yellow» but are regular beige color(like dough or bread) with pink or yellow accents/stripes(hopefully this helps if you’ve never been and are wanting to buy). It can get busy and the small parking lot sucks… but I’m not eating the parking lot, and once I get my pan, it’s the least of my concerns.

Panaderia Ortiz is where I head on special Sunday morning to pick up pan dulce. What is pan dulce you ask? It is Mexican sweet bread and Panaderia offers around thirty different varities. My favorites are their fruit filled empanadas; they offer pumpkin, apple, pineapple, and sometimes apricot. I also like the round egg shaped breads that have hardened sugar on the top. Panaderia also sells milk, sodas, fruit juices and bottled water. Get there early because Sundays are always crowded and the pickings can be slim past noon.
