Juan is awesome! There’s a crazy story behind how Juan(Nor-Cal) came to work on my many projects. I was at Peninsula Building Supply in Sunnyvale buying some stone when I was telling one of the managers how hard it was to find a reliable contractor. So many guys never showed up after making appointments while others never called back or followed up on a bid. So, he gave me a Nor Cal business card and told me that this guy did a good job and the customers liked him. At the time I was finishing up some stone work on the front of my house so I put the card to the side. A few weeks later I started preparing to get a few bids on a new roof, remodel 2 bathrooms and get new stairs and a banister installed. I called a metal guy for my banister who recommended a guy he knew who could get me a bid to remodel my stairs. He said he’d bring him over to look at the stairs in a few days. A few days later he showed up with Juan. At the time I didn’t know this was the same Juan whose card I had put aside. While waiting for the railing bid I decided to callNor-Cal(the business card I received from PBS). The same day Juan showed up. I immediately recognized him as the guy who looked at my stairs. Ok, this was a sign. I asked Juan to get me a bid for the bathrooms, roof and a few other projects. His bid came in very close to all the other roof bids I had. His bid on the other items were fair, so I hired him. Juan first started to work on my roof and that went very smoothly. Juan and his workers were always on time, friendly, helpful and dressed professional wearing company tee shirts. I loved that! What was more impressive was how after a long day they would clean up my front yard so you couldn’t tell they were even there. My neighbors even commented on how impressed they were. I then had Juan fix some tiles in my front entry and then start working on the bathrooms. All I can say is I LOVE my bathrooms. The tile work was so excellent that other workers(stereo guys, painters, landscaper, and metal guy) were impressed. Along the way I had him do other jobs and every time he came through with high end quality work. I always felt I could trust him to do quality work which made the process so easy. Fast forward… I then hired Juan to remodel and install a laundry unit in a condo I managed for a older friend who at the time I was caring for and who was dying of cancer. Juan and his workers were considerate, quiet and respectful of the situation and finished the job in a timely manner. I can’t put into words how much I appreciate that. This is where the story gets better… A few weeks after Juan installed the laundry unit I was out of town and the air conditioner went out in the condo. It happened to be one of the hottest days of the summer. The caretaker called me in a panic asking me to find someone to repair the air condition because my friend was having a hard time dealing with the heat(he was on hospice at that point). Not sure what to do I called Juan. I was sure he could refer someone but figured it would be a day or two since it was a weekend. I called Juan and left a message. A half an hour later the caretaker called me to say Juan was there fixing things. WOW!!! This action alone says more than I can say in a review, and it speaks volumes about the type of person Juan is. The value of that one action is priceless. Let me ask you, do you think an average contractor would do the same? I don’t think so! All I can say is my experience with Juan has been great. I trust, respect and recommend him and his company without hesitation. He’s ethical, honest and really cares about doing quality work.
