Mimi Hair Express

I’ve been going to this place on & off for the past 14yrs or so. For whatever reason, it’s hard for me to get the «perfect» haircut anywhere, but this place does a good enough job. Born & raised in the area, I come here because it’s convenient, it’s close to where I’ve lived, the price hasnt changed in 10yrs or so when other places keep raising their prices. The wait at Kane’s barbershop has been ridiculous lately & I dont bother going to Shroeder’s because why spend $ 12 on a fade hair cut when I get the same at Mimi’s for $ 8.
I usually go during the weekdays after 6pm. I’ve never had to wait that long, maybe 10min a few times but that’s it. They’re usually done within 15min as well, so it’s pretty quick.
The only bad experience I had in all the years I’ve been going was when I walked in to get a haircut 1 day & there was only 1 customer & 2 barbers. The barber that was free saw me walk in & rather than helping me, she walked into the other room to sit down & watch TV. I dont BS around, so when I saw that, I walked out. As I was walking to my car, she followed me out the door & brought me back in to cut my hair. She apologized & I was just straight with what I said «It’s no problem, but if I have to wait when there’s only 1 customer & 2 barbers, I’ll just go to the place next door or down the street to get my haircut.» I consider that incident to be very minor & it didnt stop me from coming back.

This was the biggest mistake to come here. I went to get my eyebrows wax and instead she ripped off some of my hair from my hairline. I told her ouch it hurts you ripped off my hair. She denied it and said no I only took the eyebrow hair off. I looked at the strip to find pieces of my hair (not eyebrow on it). She then proceeded to pluck my eyebrows. I originally told her not to do it too thin and ofcourse I barely have eyebrows left. not to mention I was very red and then she applied gobs of vasaline on my eyebrows and again went into my hair line. She also used a dirty towel where I was to lay my head on and not to mention a dirty comb full of hair to brush my eyebrows. I actually paid for this awful experience and she didn’t even say sorry. I will never come back here again.

I’ve been going to Fazila to get my eyebrows done for as long as I can remember. She was recommended by a friend and I’ve recommended several family members and friends to her. She has never let anyone down and turns every first timer into a fan. She totally ROCKS. I’ll never let anyone touch my eyebrows except Fazila!

My family has been going to this hair salon for years. My dad always gets his haircuts with Mimi. She is very sweet and always asks about my family and talks about her family. You see pictures of them everywhere. She is very nice and good at what she does. If she wasn’t. we wouldn’t have been going to her for so many years.
The haircuts are cheap and good. When you go there, ask for Mimi. She’s the best!

I have been going to Mimi’s for over 15 years… I don’t think you can get a better haircut for the price — $ 12 — anywhere else in San Jose. I used to go to expensive salons and paid 2 or 3 times that amount… But not any more.
I realize cutting men’s and women’s hair may be different. But for guys this is not only a good buy, but a quality job done right.

This place is a joke! I went there for a simple body wave and it came out so crappy! The body wave lotion was not rinsed out, so the chemicals in it burnt the $hit out of my hair. I came back the following day to get a trim, because due to the poor body wave, my hair was super frizzy… Then i had to go back a 3^rd to get my hair thined out, because it was still too frizzy and thick. I went home later and tried curling my hair, but no matter how hott i got the curling– iron, my hair would not take a curl at all, therefore my hair was super damaged. The next day i returned to her salon and instead of telling her how bad of a job she did in front of her customers, i asked her to step outside and told her how i felt and showed her the condition of my damaged hair. Instead of trying to figure out a solution, she told me to purchase a conditioner from her and that would fix the problem, however it was just a cheap ploy to get me to spend more money. The next day i returned to let her know her conditioner didnt do the job and insisted that she give me a refund, the told me it was her belief and bad luck to return money in the morning, and for me to return in the evening and upon doing so, she told me that her husband said she should NOT refund me my money. I dont understand what her husband has to do with anything, other than the fact that he is married to her, but he didnt cutt my hair, nor did he see the HORRIBLE job she did. I have been going there for over 30 years and Mary Twa normally cutts my hair, but since she wasnt there, i figured the owner would know what she was doing, so i gave her a shot. This was the BIGGEST mistake in the world and i will never go back!!! Think of the 10’s of thousands that i have spent there over the last 30 yrs, and from this day on, they will never see any of my money again and i will never refer anyone i know to get their haircutt done there. OH AND BTW, IM USING MY SONS ACCT TO WRITE THIS REVIEW, M.M.

I have had good and bad experiences at Mimi’s hair express. I used to go to this salon regularly about 3 years ago and Fazilla was my go to hair dresser. Overall, I liked her work but I hated the fact that she was always late and would have missed appointments with me. I noticed that she would over book her clients and I felt at times she would be rushing with me because her next client showed up for their appointment. It’s definately not a good idea to book an early appointment with her because she will usually keep you waiting because she is normally 15 – 20 mins late.
I recently went back and decided to give them another chance but instead of going to Fazilla I chose to go to Mimi, who is also the owner of the salon. I really liked her work. I got a haircut, eyebrow waxing, and highlights done. That day I was her only customer because the salon was slow and she really took her time on me. The highlights were okay but not bad. I did however like my hair cut and the price was also reasonable. I paid $ 85 for all these services. Overall good work with a decent prices. I guess your good or bad experience depends on the day and if they are busy but I am willing to continue going to this salon and I’ll write an update on my future experiences.
