Great hole in the wall with a surprising selection. The sandwiches were tasty and portioned quite well. The price was moderately high and the ingredients aren’t of the purest quality but that goes with out saying.

Very very good. Looking for someplace local to eat and we’re not disappointed. Husband had honey mustard chicken sandwich… Omg, it was so good!

This is a wonderful place, it’s just not possible at all to complain about the food or the service. Just avoid the afternoon, it gets crowded, how not, it’s delicious. I’m just saying it if u are the kind of people who doesn’t like to be surrounded by crowds like me.

Went to a lot of food places today haha. Stopped in here today to catch the Warriors game and had a craving for wings. I used to love the philly on fire and the regular philly but I haven’t been here for a min and think I wasn’t happy last time. This time I ordered all sides. Wings, skins, and strips. I am a die hard wing guy and can eat by the bucket. These wings here are very good great flavor cooked crispy and not to messy. I look for a good wing place and if wings is the only thing here I’ll eat it is 5 stars for sure. Old school pac man game pin ball quick service nice staff and lots of old school sports pics and things. I’ve actually seen ricci from San Jose Sharks in here picking up food. Cheese bread is also amazing and will feed 2 – 3 people alone a salad is huge and awesome this place does rock good job guys

I go here occasionally if im wanting good food but willing to pay the price. Your sandwich would be more expensive than restaurants like BJs or Cheesecake Factory, but they are very good. Lots of choices from sandwiches to burgers to ribs to pizza. Lots of TVs for your sports games as well. Keep in mind that food takes a while to come out, especially on busy nights.

Food is still consistently great; service can be a little hit or miss though. Often my husband or I will call in orders for pick up, and despite being told 20 – 30 minutes, we’ll arrive 30 – 40 minutes later and find they haven’t even started our order yet. It seems like sometimes when they’re busy, they get a little bit flustered. My husband has even seen one of their cooks get exasperated with some of the cashiers/front line staff when they aren’t very organized. It is definitely a small business though, and little things like that aren’t a huge deal to us. We still love their burgers!

I love this place because it’s like my own personal diamond in the rough. From the outside you would never know the quality food and excellent establishment they have here. Always my go to place when I am in desperate need of a burger around the corner.

This is an update based on a trip there last week. Down from 5 and now to 4 stars for dinner. The food is good old fashioned American style. The take-out orders can leave you waiting for 28 minutes. That said, the casual just around the corner feeling can be attractive for many. Parking leaves a lot to be desired but is no different from when this place opened up years ago. The cheap gas next door is still a reason to get off the beaten path and head over to this area if you usually take a different route.

I love this place. I like the patty melt. It’s always perfect and the fries are good too.

Malibu has great food! I live around the corner and go once or twice a week. It is your local restaurant and bar with flat screens playing all the sports games and has good munchies. It is pretty expensive but I see it as supporting small businesses. I would rather pay more than not have this place around. Therefore they shouldn’t skimp me on the ranch cause I go there so often!

This place is pretty darn good. I’ve been a handful of times and everything has always been tasty. The portions are large, so split a sandwich with someone if you’re not super hungry. There always seems to be several tables of contractors, laborers, policemen or other hard-working folks in there. They always seem to sniff out the best tasting food for affordable prices and this is no exception. Don’t be afraid to ask for something custom and they will certainly guide you in the right direction.

I’ve been to Malibu Grill a dozen or so times over the years. The food, from pizza to sandwiches to salads, has always been excellent! BUT… it is overpriced, the staff has never been friendly or knowledgable, and it takes for-ev-er to get your food, even when the place is empty. Solid food, not so great service.

I’m visiting from out of town and stopped into the Grill for lunch. The interior is only inspiring if you are a sports fan(which I am not), and the prices seemed quite high, but my lunch was FANTASTIC! I ordered the Sizzling Fajita Salad with chicken(half order $ 9.95 and plenty of food) and it was wonderful. Loved loved loved it. The wait person didn’t seem to know what she was doing on all counts(not helpful, not particularly friendly, didn’t know the menu or ingredients), but the woman in the back(owner?) who did the cooking was on her game. The grilled chicken was moist, the salad additions very flavorful, and overall, DEEEELISH. Might even go back today.

I have been coming here off and on since I was about 18, but I have to say, the last few times I have been they seem to be going down hill. Their prices are way too much for what they offer. I ordered the bacon burger which came out to be $ 13. The burger was over cooked, had very little flavor and the bun was dry. Unfortunately, I think I’m done coming here.

Took my boys here for last day of school celebration. Poppers, beans, & fries are good, ribs very tasty, and my boys enjoyed their mini pizzas. Cozy, clean little place with good sized portions. Staff helpful and nice.

OK — so if you have had a bad time here, I think that sucks. But let me give you the real low down on this joint. First, if you grew up around the Almaden area this place has always been where you can get top notch food that will fill up anyone and watch a game. Second, I have yet to find a better chicken or steak philly(on fire) in the bay area. Huge portion, Huge Flavor, Garlic Roll, lots of fries, etc. Oh and that also goes for the pulled pork. This place has been like a second home to me where I would have all of my Thursday night, pre-friday game day meals with my whole team for football. Carlos has always made you feel welcome and that most of the time is all I can ask for.

This was our first time here. It’s nothing fancy, but I’ve heard good things about it. It’s kind of hidden in the back corner of this small building, next to the 7 – 11. The small parking lot was full, so we waited about 5 minutes for a car to leave. I placed our order(1 entrée and 2 kids meals) at 6:30 with an unwelcoming order taker she looked like she just woke up with her hair in a sloppy pony tail. At 7:15 I walked up to ask her to check on our order and was told another 10 – 15 minutes. Keep in mind, the order was a half rack of ribs, kids cheeseburger, and kids chicken strips… none of which require special preparation. At 7:25, our food was delivered by the same unfriendly order taker…55 minutes after we ordered. haven’t the ribs been cooking all day and kept warm, ready to serve? The ribs($ 15.95) were very meaty, but had barely any sauce. The kids cheeseburger($ 6.95) was cooked medium-rare, and the kids chicken strips($ 8.95) had a funny look and color(kind of gray). I was hoping to find another great neighborhood restaurant, but unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be coming back.

I moved away from San Jose about a year and a half ago and would pay mass amounts of money to have some food from Malibu Grill delivered to me in SoCal. It is that good! The pizza, malibu sticks, tri-tip fajita salad, mozzarella sticks, GARLICBREAD& french fries are so delicious! Such a fun, laid back atmosphere to grab some food and drinks. Cheap pitchers and a good amount of tvs to watch the Sharks game during hockey season! Order upfront and then sit and wait for your food. Again, very casual. Small bar but attentive and quick. Don’t let the location steer you away… This place is a San Jose GEM.

The Malibu Grill &BBQ(MGB) is a small family-run sports bar and grill that’s been serving up quality grub since 1989. MGB is a little difficult to find, as it’s tucked away in a decrepit strip mall deep in the Almaden Valley cuts. I have actually been coming here since before the Unilocal mobile days, and the only way I found it was through a co-worker’s word-of-mouth – ancient technology, I know, but still pretty reliable. However, with that being said, MGB is definitely worth seeking out if you’re anywhere in the vicinity, as it has become my «go-to» spot for lunch when I’m nearby. They have a pretty extensive menu that ranges from BBQ and Pizza, to Burgers and Pasta. I usually stick with their burgers and hot sandwiches because they do those really well. Here are my Top 3: Patty Melt– MGB has a terrific version of this classic Sammy; they serve it up with grilled onions, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing on traditional grilled Rye bread. This sandwich can be a bit heavy, but well worth it. This is my wife’s favorite, and it has quickly become one of mine. 4.5* Burgers– MGB has more burgers than you can shake a stick at. I’ve tried quite a few, and you really can’t go wrong with any of them; it just depends on what you like, but you can’t go wrong with a Bacon Avocado. Word of warning on The Big Kahuna: it really is massive – even I couldn’t finish it. 4* Philly on Fire Steak– This is not your classic Philly Cheesesteak, but a souped up Cali-version; they take Tri-Tip and serve it up with sauteed onions, red bell peppers and jalapeños on a garlic roll and top it with Swiss cheese. It’s an ooey gooey meaty, spicy slice of heaven. They also serve up a non-spicy and chicken version(spicy and non) of this, so there’s one to suite everyone’s taste. 5* Fries– All of MGB’s sandwiches and burgers come with a heaping helping of their freshly made fries. Unfortunately, they’re frozen, but they always fry them up fresh and they might be the best frozen fries I’ve had. Pro Tip: Parmesan and pepper shakers are readily available at the condiment bar. So what I like to do is shake them up over my fries and transform them into Parmesan-Chili fries. 4* Service & Ambiance– The employees at MGB are always really nice, extremely helpful and will give you a good helping of Ranch, if you want it for dipping your fries. MGB has your classic neighborhood sports bar décor, as all the walls are adorned with local sports teams paraphernalia and memorabilia. It’s also a terrific place to come catch a game because there’s tons of TVs, everywhere. I was fortunate enough to catch a few World Cup games here during my lunch break, and I really had a hard time leaving – and not getting a beer. 4.5* Value– Overall, MGB is a little on the pricier side, as a sandwich/burger with a drink will usually run you just shy of $ 15, but it’s hard to complain about quality. 3.5* So, in summation, if you’re in south San José and are looking for a great place to eat, get a beer and/or watch a game, then MGB is what you want. It’s an awesome little neighborhood spot, that gets my seal of approval. Highly, highly recommended!

PERFECTLOCALDIVEYBAR You have your 55 year old man fixtured at the end of the bar. You have your teenagers working the counter and dining area. TVs abound to display all types of sports games. And you have your great food! I have tried the Western burger, onion rings, pasta dishes, salad. All really good and tasty. I particularly like their full flavored, full-width BACON. I wonder how long this place has been around. This spot is likely a fave for many people. This restaurant is appropriate for friends to cool down after tennis or golf… for families to go out for a nice meal… for sports nuts(for sure this place will be packed this Sunday for the World Cup final). But this is also a nice date spot! Highly recommend for just a nice night out.
