They have closed a few of their store. Now there is only one left. Trying again, it is ok. A little on the dried side. Maybe just this time around. Next time might be better.

The food is great always a go to place of ours, however you’ll find better service elsewhere. If you have the patience for ok service then you’ll be fine.

I can’t comment on the service because I used DoorDash and well, that’s an awesome service. I had the sweet corn tamale, which I thought was good and a chicken tamale, which I also found very good. The atole, I LOVED. I tried making it myself, nope, not as good. I will order from them again. Oh and I ordered a side of salsa and loved it.

The service was below ok. We ordered an atole drink(hot drink) but it was lukewarm and clunky. The tamale tasted great but I needed to eat it in a dark room with the lights off because it looked disgusting. Ordered the chicken chili verde tamales… they were Chernobyl nuclear green. Never saw a tamale with a hazardous green tint. But it tasted good. It comes down to the service and employee engagement… it changes everything. I tried to like this place and was leaning towards a bias to like but between the service, atole chunks and Chernobyl tamales I just couldn’t do it.

I would still go for Tamale Factory after trying this place. I think it’s nothing compared to Tamale Factory. The tamale lacks it’s flavor and meat. I like their hot sauce but that’s about it… Sorry, I’m sticking with Tamale Factory over this place.

Never would have known this place was here if not for Unilocal — tucked away in a quiet neighborhood plaza by a couple churches. I dropped by for a quick lunch and ordered one chicken chile verde tamale and one pork tamale. The chicken chile verde was excellent and the pork was good as well — the key to both was the flavor and consistency of the masa. $ 2 apiece plus tax and tip made for a quick and cheap lunch and I am a happy man. Would definitely come back either for a meal or catering.

Okay, okay. I’m sad because I didn’t get to try the top two flavors(Jalapeño and Cheese or Beef). But I had a pork and it was okay. I added salsa and sour cream and that improved it. Service was mediocre. The building is behind another building so you can’t see it from the street.(Strange). Small shop. Next time I’ll go earlier and devour a Jalapeño & Cheese plus a Beef tamale.

I used to really like Lucy’s Tamale Factory. This was my favorite place back before they moved to this location many years ago. The previous time I came here, I noticed I didn’t like them that much anymore. Then I went there again today and I hate to say I didn’t like any of the tamales. I ordered three tamales: pork, chicken and sweet. The pork tasted life beef so I don’t know if they mixed them up or what but it was very dark and tasted like beef. The meat of the chicken tasted the better than the beef(aka pork) but the masa was very bland. I had to pour lots of the hot sauce and sour cream to make then savory tamales flavorful. The sweet tamale wasn’t even sweet. Even after attempting to flavor it with sour cream, it was boring. I’m so disappointed. I think I need to find a new place to get tamales. I won’t be coming back.

Yummmm! Came here during Christmas time because our family was unable to make them this year. I was hesitant because I was under the impression that only home made was the way to go for the holidays. To my surprise it was moist tasty and delicious! I ordered 3 dozen. I gave a dozen each to my sisters and mother and received a call that evening ranting and raving about the tamales! See you guys next year!

Not very good tamales in my opinion, because : Most people think when you ask for chicken tamales, means you assuming that those are with green salsa(traditional tamales), but not on this case, at least to me it has to be worth green salsa. Next thing is that those are too salty! Those tamales are big, yeah big, but the size doesn’t make the flavor. For me to have paid $ 2 for each is not worth it. And e last thing is the service, the old lady at the register had some attitude; well I don’t think that is a good thing for the business, right? I don’t understand why they have a 4 stats I’m not agree either. I personally will not recommend this peace to buy tamales, but I will definitely will recommend you this: Diana’s tamales factory, this is a way better even the customer service. I’m so disappointed with the salty tamales.

I bought the pork and beef, but liked the pork better. They’re huge and meaty, but just a little too much masa/corn. The flavor and spices were on point! I will def return for some more.

Wow! We called before we went & ask if the tamales were made from lard & the lady said no We only use Vegetable oil. We went & got ½ a dozen of the jalapeño & cheese. They were nice & hot. We tried one OMG it was wonderful they were hot it tasted freshly made. It’s a drive but now we know where we can get vegetarian Tamales. They raised their price to $ 3.00 a tamale.

I was trying to find a good place to get tamales since the stand I buy them from in the mornings isn’t there late. I found this place through Unilocal and decided to try it out. All these 4 and 5 star reviews must be written by people who don’t know what tamales should taste like. I drove all the way to this place from the south side, paid almost $ 27 for a dozen of tamales, only to drive all the way back home to try these and find that they are not good at all. They have no flavor! I bought chicken and pork tamales and they’re just spicy with no flavor. Definitely wouldn’t go back to this place.

Craving tamales this weekend was quite disappointed more masa than meat in tamale … Sweet lady working the counter however looked overworked and exausted. She worked the register, made the tamales and seems like she does everything, understaffed maybe that’s why tamales are made poorly !!!

A couple of months ago my family that now lives in Texas wanted Lucy’s tamales so we trekked to the east side to their obscure location. We ordered a couple dozens two different types chicken and cheese with jalapeño. My family had planned on eating a couple and then taking the rest home. After trying one they asked if they were under new ownership I said no then I tried one and it was horrible, no salt or taste to it. If they were closer I would have returned them we ended up throwing them away. I do have to say in the past I have ordered them and they were good.

I came here yesterday and customer service is not very friendly here. We bought 7 tamales. I tried the pork tamales and the jalapeño and cheese. The pork was good but the jalapeño and cheese were not my favorite. They HARDLY had ANY jalapeño on it and they are pretty stingy on the cheese. The tamales also have a lot of masa so I just took off a lot of masa and ate the pork with less masa. I would have tried the sweet corn tamales but they were out. People… just stick to the pork.

My son and I did the«tamale making class» and it was INCREDIBLYFUN! We made a basket of tamales to take home, and while they steamed, the staff served us dinner! The tamales were delicious! As others have noted, this is a small family owned business and they have such pride in the quality of their product and the care and attention they put into Lucy’s. We’ll take the trip to buy from them again! Very nice people, very good business.

Lucys tamale factory has been an icon in the business Community of Alumrock California for many years… Lucy and her crew used to vendor their tamales out of the store that’s where the tamale factory is now… But as things change she now sells them from a small shop in a residential area. Her tamales have always been excellent… I heard one year about 10 years ago that they sold hundred and 39,000 dozen tamales that a lot of tamales… I don’t think that she does that volume now… But they’re very nice family and they certainly deserve the respect that Alumrock and East San Jose areas know how to give… This holiday season stop by and say hello to Lucy and her crew… And get yourself a dozen tamales… I recommend the corn tamales they’re my favorite… And have yourself a bunch of tamales and a very Merry Christmas!

Awesome tamales! I purchased a Groupon to have them cater lunch at my work, and although we had a bit of back and forth, they were able to accommodate our order so no negative stars there. We tried the chicken and corn tamales and both were delicious! The tamales were also HUGE, so you definitely get what you pay for. Both tamales were still nice and fluffy, and the chicken filling was good, but the corn tamale(which was slightly sweet) was my favorite. They also brought rice and refried beans, which were also good. A lot of my coworkers really enjoyed the tamales and said they were the best they’ve had in a long time. However, the other half of my coworkers couldn’t really figure out what the tamales were since they hadn’t had them before, so I don’t think we’ll be able to order again. In any case, I will definitely have to stop by Lucy’s Tamale Factory on my own and pick up additional tamales in the future, as I want to try their other flavors!

I love Lucy’s tamales!!! They rock my socks. My first time trying Lucy’s was actually at a Mexican Festival. Out of all the booths, I am so happy I picked hers. I got the carne asada and carnitas and both were DELICIOUS. I’m a huge tamale fan and Lucy did not disappoint! Can’t wait to try the other ones :)
