Walked with my company on 10/24/2015. Light the Night is an amazing event that raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! The society’s goal is to eradicate blood cancer! Everyone who registers and walks for the event gets a lantern and takes a 1.5 mile walk through downtown San Jose. The lanterns are broken down by color: Red — means you’re supporting the organization and all of the people who have been affected by blood cancer. Yellow — means you have lost someone or know someone who has been affected by Leukemia or Lymphoma. White — means you are a Leukemia/Lymphoma survivor. The walk was definitely one of the most beautiful and highly organized community service events I have ever been to. I was able to meet some people, learn more about Leukemia and Lymphoma, and do some good on a Saturday night! I had a great time, and highly recommend participating!

On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, my sister Bev and cousin Jeremy participated in the Light The Night Walk in Menlo Park at Burgess Park. This was our way of honoring our mother who passed last August 2006 of Metastatic Cancer. I was able to meet people that went through the same family experience as we did. Some survivors shared their stories and some cancer fighters inspired me to continue learning about cancer and understand the hopes for a cure. Listed below is more information on this annual event. I will be partcipating again in 2007 with three events in the Bay Area. ================================================== Taken from the website: A huge THANKYOU to all of our walkers, volunteers and sponsors who participated in Light The Night. You are what made the evening magical. The Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s nationwide two-to three-mile evening walk to celebrate cancer survivorship and commemorate those lives touched by cancer. Friends and family carried red illuminated balloons; cancer patients and survivors carried white illuminated balloons. Funds raised support the Society’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Please join us in the fight against blood cancers. The total amount raised by all three Light The Night walks in 2006 is $ 830,000 and counting! Please keep sending in your checks and keep your page up so you can help push us closer to $ 1 million dollars. If you have any after walk checks to send in, please put them in a walker envelope or regular envelope with your team name, your name, and the total amount in the envelope. Also make sure that either the envelope or the check says Light The Night on it. Mail them to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Silicon Valley & Monterey Bay Area Chapter 675 N. First Street, Suite 1100 San Jose, CA95112 Again, thank you in joining us in the fight against blood cancers. See you at our 2007 Walk!
