I tried a do-​it-​yourself approach to my divorce and was managing alright until it came to the nitty gritty of the division of property. It became obvious in the first Settlement Conference that I was in over my head.
I found Shawn on Unilocal and after a 30-​minute consultation I knew he was going to be the right attorney for me.
Shawn is well versed in all aspects of marriage dissolution, but especially knowledgeable in the area of Moore-​Marsden law (division of real estate). He communicates extremely well and in a timely manner. He is always courteous and professional and cuts through the legal mumbo jumbo, putting things into words that the average person can understand. He also was able to deal with the opposing attorney’s shenanigans quickly and decisively.
In a word, Shawn is awesome. I would recommend him to anyone looking for representation in a Family Law situation.

Worst assistant ever! Called in to get an appointment and she was rude and totally unhelpful. With her thick accent and rude demeanor, at least I am never calling back again! Already dealing with a rough partner… at least the lawyer’s office can be helpful!

I came to know Shawn after interviewing at least a dozen attorneys. The background is a prior divorce after 20+ years of marriage in CA. Next we layer on kids (adults now), 15 post-​divorce working years and the typical California anti-​husband maintenance program CA puts in place. For the divorce I used a high-​profile, very expensive attorney that did a good job, I thought, but had retired — fortunately. I say fortunately because I may have gone back to him rather than had the opportunity to find Shawn. From the many interviewed I chose Shawn for a number of reasons. First, conversations with Shawn were clear and concise. He does not use the technique of drawing out the conversation to increase his billing. Second, my situation involved the history mentioned, new jobs, relocations, job losses, stock options, high-​compensation and a number of issues that could have taken us down many expensive trails. Second, he had not only a good understanding of the law, but a good business sense and an excellent grasp of the financial situation so we did not need to hire an outside CPA. Third, I like to draft the key points for letters and crunch the spreadsheet numbers, which worked for him and kept my costs down. In summary, what I feared would result in a long, drawn-​out, painful process turned out to be a lot less costly and was closed out in 30 days rather then the 2+ years my previous attorney took. Shawn boiled the issues down to the key points, we set forth and offer which Shawn negotiated and move to a closing. I’m very please and if you have something similar, give Shawn a call.

Shawn really came to my rescue during the hardest time of my life when I chose to divorce my husband of 14 years. Shawn is a true professional. One of the best service I’ve ever received anywhere and not just within the law arena. Equip with an already shaky mindset while going through my separation, I hesitatingly looked on Unilocal to find a lawyer that can help me navigate through the separation/​child custody process.
Shawn was very pleasant as he took his time to listen to all of my concerns and then provided me with some good feedback. Unfortunately, he was unable to take my case at the time due to my short time frame window so he referred me to a different lawyer. I actually really respect this because if he wasn’t able to commit 100% to me at the moment, he would not take my case.

Ok. We admit it. We picked Shawn Leuthold out of several attorneys listed on Unilocal.We knew nothing about him and knew no one in town to get a recommendation from. Probably not the best way to choose legal representation.
However we got VERY lucky! Shawn was great! He was very sympathetic and supportive, walking us through every step of our case. Giving advice but never making us feel beneath him as so many lawyers love to do.
He settled the case quickly when we were sure the other party would drag it out. He also got a settlement we were quite happy with. He is efficient and returns phone calls and emails promptly. We wholeheartedly recommend him without any reservations.
Lawyers often see us at our worst but Shawn handled it all with grace and listened to us patiently even though our stress levels were quite high. We were so pleased with him and his handling of our case.

After wasting countless hours and thousands of dollars on a «Collaborative» divorce process I ended up working with Shawn Leuthold. Shawn was able to wrap up a very contentious, emotionally charged, financially complex and teenage kids included divorce in a short period of time. Shawn is not only a strong lawyer but understands finances and has tremendous soft skills when dealing with clients and other lawyers. He is very efficient and honorable.
