So — where do I begin? I suppose let’s start off by making it clear that no one from Hipstermaid even remotely made an effort to. literally, ‘clean up this mess’ of a situation. First of all, there is no such thing, as a ‘Hipstermaid’ maid team. Yes, you’ve heard it right — the maids they hire, actually do not work for them. They find them off some sort of external database, and then book them, or ‘match-make’ them to the people that request a cleaning service off the Hipstermaid website, which basically means — they have NOIDEA who they are sending to your house. It could be a mentally unstable person, or a physically inept person, or even contagiously sick — they would not know. During my conversation with Chris, the customer service rep, he said that the maid sent to clean my house usually gets really good reviews and that he has spoken to her and is aware that a ‘situation occurred’ — but when I asked him to refer to her by her name, instead of ‘the maid’, continuously — he was unable to do that. He doesn’t know her name, and was unable to look it up on the spot. They have no idea who they outsource to come to people’s homes, whether the people are physically and mentally healthy, and worst of all — they have no means of finding out. THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is scary. Thieves, sex offenders, animal abusers? How would they know, and how would YOU know? This also means, these maids are not only horribly underpaid and under appreciated, but are also put into absolutely impossible situations in order for the Hipstermaid management to turn a profit. I exchanged many emails with Chris, their customer service rep, and as mentioned above, I even manage to get a rare phone call out of him — which, I am pretty sure is a one time occurrence, as Hipstermaid people –do not– enjoy talking on the phone. His reason for that being — it takes away from the time he could be spending replying to people via email, yet, it usually takes about 36 – 48 hours to get response from them via email also. After our conversation, he promised up and down to resolve the situation — he convinced me to book another ‘make up’ cleaning with them? What I was thinking? I don’t know — but I was desperate and agreed. The night before the cleaning was due, got a text message saying it’s not going to work out. I am done with Hipstermaid — but people should know exactly how their operation works and I’d be very, very wary of using this service if I were you.
