We have purchased Hillerman’s wood for years. They are very pleasant to work with and they are always on time. Their wood is alway good, clean wood. In the past years we have used other companies and unfortunately they don’t match up to Hillerman’s. Great job Laura & Mark.

I was really very disappointed with Hillerman’s. I called them, spoke to Laura, and scheduled a delivery of a cord of Almond wood for a Wednesday. She told me that it would be delivered between 6 and 8am(crazy early) and that was the only day/time they could deliver during the week I needed the delivery. I thought, well, it is super early, but I will just be ready at 6am to get the delivery. I was up at 5:30 am prepared and waiting. They never delivered, never showed up and never called me to cancel the delivery. I called them at 9am and left a message, inquiring about the delivery and asking them to call me back. Called several more times and got nothing back. To be honest, it was very upsetting because that was horrible customer service. Buyers beware, Hillerman’s has BAD customer service and is NOT reliable. I ended up ordering from Mike’s Firewood service and was very pleased. Don’t expect to get your Firewood Delivery from Hillerman’s. Do you want to take that risk of being lied to and your time wasted? Go with Mike’s.

I have gotten wood from Hillermans 2 years in a row. Both were on time and the wood was great. Burns great, no bad wood in the ½ cord I purchased. In the past 10 years I have purchased every winter and have used many other companies and this place is the best.

I ordered my wood on Tuesday and had it delivered to Fremont on Thursday. Laura took the order and said Mark would be at my home at 7 am. Mark was here — at 7 am, exactly. Forgot how early(and cold) that was, lol. Mark was very pleasant to work with, explained all I needed to know about the wood I was purchasing. Wood/Cut quality was great and met my expectations. Nice mix of split wood and rounds. Wood was well seasoned and ready to burn. I tested several logs last night and they burned nice and clean! I like this almond wood a lot! I would recommend doing business with Mark, and in fact look forward to calling Hillerman’s the next time I need firewood. I will order a full cord next time though.

Update: I had to ding them a star for my latest wood delivery, as it was mostly small rounded pieces and not split logs like my order last year. I have ordered Firewood from Hillerman over the past 5 years and have NEVER had a delivery problem. The quality of the wood is very good(almond) and the price is excellent. Laura is very nice and accomodating. I can’t understand why the other reviewers had issues. I have already ordered this year to take advantage of the summer discount($ 285/cord).

I found their number when I was on craigslist looking for firewood. I called last thrusday(1÷3÷13) to order a cord of firewood delivered. The lady told me it’s $ 300 and that they would deliver it to me on monday(1⁄7). She also say they will be in my neighborhood Saturday so there’s a chance they can delivery it early on Saturday(1÷5÷12). She said she’d give me a call the next day(Friday) to let me know about saturday either way so I can be prepared. I received no call from her so I figure they’ll just deliver it on Monday like she said. This evening, DH suggested I call them and comfirm what time they’ll be by tomorrow. When I called the lady acted as if the conversation her and I had on 3 days ago didn’t happen. She told me my delivery is scheduled for wednesday. I asked her why it was moved to wednesday and why was I not informed? Her answer? «I don’t know why I told you we’ll deliver to you Monday, we don’t deliver mondays or tuesdays». WTF! I reminded her how she even told me they might deliver it on Sat. She laughed and told me they were in San Jose on Saturday not in Castro Valley like she said. I canceled the delivery, DH called another company and they were here within 2 hours, delivered and stacked our woods. I’m in awe in regards to how clueless Hillerman is when it comes to costumer service. I really can’t believe they didn’t care or apologize for they this whole mess.

First of all, I’ve been a customer for the past 4 to 5 years and have had no problems. However, this year has been a complete turn around. I finally received my cord of wood on the 3rd try. I went to use the wood later that night and discovered the wood is NOT seasoned. Instead of snap crackle pop, I could only heard the sound of water boiling out of the wood. Basically, the wood will not burn and is worthless until next year. I left a message on their answering machine and tried calling both numbers later that morning and both phone number have their message box full. I went to cancel the check but it’s been cashed already. If the Hillerman’s check Unilocal,perhaps they can return my phone call and make some type of arrangement to rectify this problem.

My wife and I ordered a cord of almond in August for the winter months. The lady who took our call was very nice and the wood was delivered on time as promised. The delivery person was also extremely nice and the wood was seasoned and ready to burn. By now you are asking yourself what went wrong. The deliverery was short by exactly 20%. We called and left a message explaining the situation. We received an apologetic call back and they said they were very sorry and they would drop off more wood. Since then, we have not received the rest of our wood and they have not returned any of our many messages. We paid them as promised, I wished they would have honored their side of the deal.
