First thing — they don’t speak English. Didn’t really get massaged here. On arrival, a don’t-know-what-happened lady directly ask me to pay beforehand. I took out my credit card and she said she doesn’t know how to work the credit card machine. Okay so she fetched another don’t-know-what #2 who tried to swipe my card and continuously get declined. She said my card had problem so I had to go to my car and grab another card which of course didn’t get through either. Finally she realized it’s a prob with her machine and asked me to pay cash. I gave her the cash for a foot massage and she acted like she just woke up :‘Sorry! I don’t have anyone who is available to give the foot massage at the moment. Can you come back in half an hour?’ Looking at she and the lady next to her who does not seem ‘available’ at all, I walked out of the place and never looked back~~

I’m picking 1 star because I have to in order to write a review. This place is ridiculous! I arrive at 12:00. The receptionist girl is on her phone and tells me to sit and wait while she fixes her car seat. The other girl arrives and starts yelling for someone in the back. I’m siting and waiting and the first girl tells me to see the other girl. The sign says 10:00 — 1:00, the foot massages are $ 18. It’s now 12:15. Both girls look at the clock like they don’t know how to read time. Then one says, no, it’s $ 25 and the sign is wrong — as she walks away in her high heels still chatting on her cell phone. So I turn to the other girl and pointed out what the sign said and so she flips and me and says sorry, I don’t speak English. Now I’m in WTF mode. Useless place, don’t waste your time!

My husband and I have been to Happy 8 at least 5 times. We last went last week. We love the place and all employees are good at what they do, massage. This is not a spa kind of place that you get the zen experience and lounge around with your girlfriends. You get what you pay for, a good massage. After massage, they always give us a cup of water or warm tea which was a nice touch. Foot massage does include the whole body, they just spend a little more time with your feet. It’s the best deal, though you don’t get your private room. Soft music is played in common room. We could hear various noises once in a while but it didn’t bother us too much. No appointment needed. We usually come late in the evening, around 8pm. Maybe it’s the best time to visit that’s why we never had anything to complain about. Everything was perfect and it didn’t cost a fortune to feel good. Their rate is so low I can afford to get massage more often

I went here for the first time and was very disappointed. I will never come back again! I purchased $ 40 for a one hour body massage. You have to pay before you receive the service. The lady finished in 45 minutes! I did not leave a tip since there was no one at the front desk during the time I left and I was cheated 15 minutes! I wanted to speak to the man who was at the front desk, but he wasn’t around — Maybe that is why they have customers pay first because they know they are scamming you out of 15 minutes. During the time that I had a massage the women were talking over the partitions; Not very relaxing. SAVEYOURMONEYANDTIME… AVOIDTHISPLACE!

Came here today because my back was hurting and thought I should just go for a 30 minutes massage rather than eat lunch at my break. They were able to check me in when I came in at 12:10, then got to the room and got dressed in about 3 minutes. So the massage did not happen until about 12:15. Why is it that the massage was over by 12:32, beats me. The fact that the lady did not only understand English, she also wouldn’t stop when I kept saying«Ouch». Will not go here again.

I’ve been to the Happy 8 Health Center two times before my most recent experience so the review I’m about to write is an average of the three times I’ve been total. In terms of the quality of MASSAGES(foot reflexology) they give here — for what you pay, you’re getting a pretty good massage. I can take pain, in fact, I enjoy pain that feels good, therefore a reflexology massage is the perfect combination for me since it gives you the relaxing feeling of a massage, but it instills some type of «feel good» pain as well. I always go in for a thirty minute massage, but I end up asking them to bump it up to an hour after starting. For $ 20, it isn’t bad, in fact, I can proudly say its pretty good. The reason why this review is getting 2⁄5 stars even though I just touched on how decently good the massage was is because of the environment & customer service. I have extremely high standards when it comes to customer service & for a massage place, I have high standards for the aura. These two things are EXTREMELY low here. Customer service is below par on many levels — the first being, they collect money for the service before providing the service(that is odd to me since other massage places similar to this don’t do that). The second thing, they barely speak English therefore they do not understand a lot of what you’re saying to them. And third, they yell at each other(or maybe that is just their tone of voice, but it is scary when you hear them scream and shout as loud as they do & it only leads you to believe they are arguing since you don’t know what they’re saying because they aren’t speaking English). The aura of this place is more like the New York Stock Exchange then it is a relaxing place to get a massage. I’d say, take your business elsewhere, because you’ll get the same quality of massage in a much more customer service oriented, massage aura location.

I’ve been to most massage place in san jose but this place is the worst! I came here around 8 pm thursday and no customers so I was like cool! I can relax and take a nap while having a massage but this stupid chinese lady at the cashier wouldn’t shut her mouth talking to my masseuse for an hour! I almost stood up and punch her in the face!

I was taken here for a full body massage as a birthday present from a very well meaning friend. When we got there, I felt as though their lobby was their employee break room. We had to wait 45 minutes before we were able to be seen. The masseuse didn’t even speak English well enough to take direction –It was painful –They spoke to each other in their own language during the massage –And she was more intrigued by my tattoo than what she was doing. She also focused most of the massage around my tattoo site. Worst of all, I was sore for three days after receiving the massage and had to take a hot bath just to relax my shoulders and back.

HORRIBLE. They don’t even deserve the one star. The bad: –They had advertised signs for $ 18 one hour massage. When you get their they charge you $ 20 and $ 18 is if you buy a package. –The masseuse didn’t even speak english well enough to take direction –It was painful –They spoke to each other in their own language during the massage –Secretary was on the phone on speakerphone –Not a relaxing environment at all –They required a $ 5 tip HORRENDOUS service, attitude, and practice. They should shut this place down. They do not deserve to be in business. WORSTPART: I had to see a chiropractor to fix what they did and that cost more money!

Must I even give 1 star? My messeuse who’s name I don’t remember but sounds just like the I-Fong lady the other reviewer described really did not know how to massage except hard and HARDER. I went with a couple of friends and given I had no knots in my back, I was given a pretty hard massage. I was grunting and Unilocaling and groaning the entire time. I winced in pain and had tears well up a couple of times. I kept telling the woman that it hurt and to go softer. She massaged a little softer for 5 seconds and went at expending energy again telling me I was weak and had no power. What I thought I could do to prove otherwise is not appropriate. *evil smile* At one point, when the woman finished massaging the gluteus maximus, and started massaging my legs, I started getting a butt cramp. Sounds pretty damn funny huh? It was so painful I laughed to myself throughout the session. Plus these ladies talk way too damn much. Yapping away in mandarin when clients are going there for a relaxing and quiet time. At one point you couldn’t even hear the music. When I went to pay, I asked for change for a $ 20. Initially the gentleman at the counter gave me a $ 10 and two $ 5s. I asked for change for the $ 5 and the guy waves the bill and points to my masseuse and says that I need to give her tip. I said ok, I will. Give me change for the $ 5. He hands me the $ 5 and waves to my masseuse again. Dude! If it were up to me she would get no tip. Eventually, my friend gave me ones and I tipped the lady. I won’t say how much but you can assume it’s an amount between $ 1 and $ 4. =P My first time going to get a massage and it will be my last.

«You get what you pay for.» I made an appt. and got seen on time. As I first walked in, I felt as though their lobby was their employee break room. The $ 18 massage special is only for a foot massage. The full body is $ 35 for first visit, and $ 40 thereafter. Foot massages were given behind short partitions. Full massages were given in divided rooms without 4 walls. No ceiling so you can hear the people enjoying their massages and the lobby with people walking in. The owner was very loud at all times. Their music was a bit loud. I had someone snoring in the massage room next to me. The only good part was that the masseuse Amy was very good. Very attentive to my aching muscles. So, all in all…“you get what you pay for”. I may go back if absolutely necessary as I do live near by. Oh, and they don’t take plastic. Cash only which wasn’t mentioned when I made an appt.
