Golden State Auto

This review has been long overdue… but this is the worst dealer I’ve ever been to and DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE to anyone! They lie, give you false promises, and do not operate with ethics or within compliance with the law. Here is my story:
On March 8, 2010, I traded in a vehicle that I still owed money on and financed another car. Chris, their finance guy, assured me that my trade-​in would be paid off. Under California Vehicle Code, Section 11 709.4, they had 21 days to pay off my trade-​in which did not happen. So not only was I making a new car payment, but I was still having to make payments on my old car that was no longer in my possession! Had I not been set up for automatic debit payment or had reserves in my account, Golden State Auto would have f*cked up my credit!
I contacted Chris about the situation and he said he would reimburse me with my debit with a check and immediately pay off the trade-​in. Well sh*t, his company check bounced and the trade-​in was still not paid off because I was debited again the next month!
Each month Golden State Auto would assure/​promise me that my old car would be paid off and each month my account would still be debited. Eventually I filed a complaint against the dealer with the Better Business Bureau and a claim with the CA DMV Investigations department. Upon follow ups with my investigator, she informed me that multiple claims were actually in process against Golden State Auto. This just shows that I wasn’t the only person they were screwing over!
Before my case could close, my old trade-​in was eventually sold (prior to paying off the loan, another violation of CVC, Section 11 709.4) which in turn paid off my old loan. Until this time, a lot of my time was wasted and I was having to stress with making ends meet, keeping up my credit, and having to deal with these douchebags.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND this dealer to anyone and hope this place gets SHUT DOWN! Even before this whole experience I was kind of iffy with this place but decided to deal with them only because they had the car I exactly wanted with a hard-​to-​find color scheme. Otherwise, these guys can just suck fat d*ck and burn! KEEP AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS/​FAMILY.
