Great place for dumplings! Ordered the famous huoshao beef dumplings, lamb onion dumplings, and the cucumber cold dish. The huoshao beef dumplings were definitely smaller than expected as previous reviews have mentioned(almost the size of their dumplings). It’s alright… it’s basically thin chunk of beef in a thick puff pastry. Probably would never order again. Lamb onion dumplings were delicious. Good lamb flavor with enough«soup» in it. Highly recommend for those who like lamb! Cucumbers were alright. Typical cucumbers in vinegar and a bit of chili sauce. Nice to have as there are not many vegetable dishes. Overall, will come back for other dumpling flavors.

Wow! Really good, I liked it! I was living in Central Asia so these dumplings reminded me Uyghur manti. Very tasty.

Stopped by here on a rainy Friday night to find it almost empty. It isn’t in the best location(a small strip in front of a Safeway) but for sure has the best dumplings at the best price that I’ve had here in the South Bay. Blows the Wolfe Road places out of the water. We ordered 30 shrimp/pork/chive dumplings to go. They were $ 16, which I think is reasonable. The dumplings are on the small side, but I prefer them to be small and somewhat delicately made by an expert. I noticed that the credit card charge minimum is at $ 25 now. Will almost certainly be ordering some dumplings to go for Chinese New Year. Big fan of this place!

This hole in the wall restaurant is right next to Subway in the Safeway plaza. They have a pretty simplistic menu, with about a dozen dishes and your choice of dumplings. Make sure to bring cash too because you can only pay in plastic if you spend over $ 20. They also have limited seating so try not to come during the prime hours. And surprisingly, their English is pretty good! Their specialty is the Huoshao, which comes in pork or beef. We decided on the the beef one, which came with 6 pieces and was beautifully fried, super crunchy and flaky. We also ended up getting the lamb with onion dumplings, which was definitely stronger than I expected. They make these dumplings from scratch as you can see them make it in the front. And if you’re not a fan of lamb, the safe path to pick is probably the three deluxe dumplings. But the noodle with meat sauce was a miss for me. The sauce was a little off so I probably still prefer the Korean style of this dish compared to the Chinese version. Afterwards, we ended up taking home a bag of three deluxe dumplings, which has pork, chives, and shrimp inside. These were solid dumplings and were extremely flavorful. Their take home dumplings comes in 30 fresh ones or 50 frozen ones, with the frozen ones a bit cheaper. Overall, it was a solid experience. If you like lamb, this is the place to go. Their food was also on point and I’m hoping to come back for more dumplings!

This place opened my eyes to another world of dumplings! After eating here, I became a dumpling fan and now is searching for all the great dumplings to eat! The place is a small little hole in the wall and there’s about 10 things on their menu. We got one fried dumpling with 3 flavors and another not fried with pork and veggies. Both were tasty! We tried to come back a week after, and the place was packed! Best to come before the dinner rush! Also, you can buy the dumplings in 30 or 50 to take home.

Dumplings dumplings dumplings. This is our go to dumpling spot when we are looking for some home cooking. Great and fast service and I highly recommend getting one of the soups(pork and pickled mustard greens is my favorite) and one of the huoshao dumplings. Lightly fried and flaky, they’re the perfect bites. You can also get their dumplings frozen to go!

Here’s an insider tip: call ahead to find out how busy they are first. This is a tiny restaurant run by a single owner who, by the looks of it, runs the register, waits all of the tables, and seats the customers. As far as I know, the only thing be doesn’t do is cook the food. So when there’s more than a few groups of customers here, the speed of service drops to a snail’s pace pretty quickly. The first time I came here, all the seats were full, and there were at least 5 other groups in front of us waiting for a table. Over the course of half an hour, we watched the poor owner frantically trying to seat everybody, take orders, and serve tables by himself. We saw one group get fed up over the wait and cancel their to-go order and three parties ahead of us leave in frustration. We ended up leaving without the owner ever even getting our name down. It was just too many people, and the restaurant clearly didn’t have the ability to serve that many people. Fast forward to New Years Day, where we found ourselves trying to hunt down a place open on the holiday. After a quick call ahead, we found ourselves one of only two other groups there around 8pm. Needless to say, service was much better: We were seated right away, the food came out quickly, and(bonus for an authentic Chinese restaurant), the owner speaks English! We ended up getting: Three Deluxe dumplings($ 8.99 for 12), which are made up of pork, chives, and shrimp. This was our favorite of the dumplings we tried. Pork and cabbage dumplings($ 7.99 for 12), which are self explanatory. These were also good but less flavorful than the three deluxe. Pork noodle with pickled mustard: This dish is normally quite sour, but this version wasn’t. This was good, but my husband commented that it felt like something you could make at home. Most of this dish is made up of noodles. The bowls are small, so get two if you’re hungry. All of the dumpling wrappers are made in-store, and it’s fun to watch the workers in front rolling dough and assembling dumplings. However, I’m not sure if the dumplings themselves are made fresh to order; I have a feeling they make them in bulk and freeze or cook as needed. Overall, everything in this restaurant has a very«homemade» taste to it: the food isn’t overly oily or salty; it tastes like food my Taiwanese mother-in-law might make at home. This can be good or bad, depending on what you’re looking for. Not sure if it was the lack of MSG, but I just felt like the food was missing a «wow factor.» I saw that for $ 1 more, you can have any of the dumplings pan-fried … We got booked dumplings, and maybe that’s the secret to extracting more flavor: Upping the fatty factor. I’d like to come back to try the pan-fried dumplings and the beef or pork huoshao!

I love supporting mom and pop business. This restaurant is unlike any other! I love the fact that it is reasonably priced, the food is good and the service is great. I was craving for dumplings but didn’t want to venture out from San Jose to San Francisco. I Unilocaled around and saw great ratings, so I thought: why not? Parking: There was a huge parking lot as you arrive. You could literally park in front of the store too if it’s not during rush hour. Food: Between my boyfriend and I, we got + Beef huoshao $ 5.99: this was my favorite. I loved the flakey and crunchiness when you bite into it. It was also fresh with tons of beef filling inside. You must try! + Three deluxe(pork, chive, shrimp) $ 8.99 with 12 pieces. Add $ 1 extra for fried. I loveeee how juice just squirts out when you bite into it. Most of the other dumplings I’ve tried were so dry but Fuji was able to take the simple dumplings to another level. Must get! + Shredded Pork and pickled mustard noodle $ 7.99: this was just ok. I wasn’t used to the broth because it tasted sour to me(I think it was from the pickled mustard). The noodle they used looked like udon too. I prefer egg noodle personally. My bf loved the soup though! He finished the whole thing! Make sure you spend at least $ 20 to swipe that credit card of yours! Otherwise, bring cash. And note that they do not accept American Express.

I’m making this my new dumpling go-to place!!!(For reference, I had this at 1pm-ish and it’s nearing 5pm and I’m still pretty full.) My two friends and I shared a plate of the pork and cabbage dumplings(12 pieces), the beef huoshao(6 pieces), and a bowl of shiitake mushroom chicken soup. It was all so good — this place has high ratings for a reason, people!!! FOOD: The dumplings(we went without the pan fried option) were so delicious; they weren’t too salty and the dough-to-meat ratio was perfect! I prefer these over the huoshao for personal reasons but they’re both really good and didn’t make me feel gross/sluggish after eating it. The soup was — wait for it — super good as well! It wasn’t too heavy and the broth definitely didn’t have any signs of MSG that gives you the«ugh»(aka sluggish) feeling after. It came with bok choy as well which is a plus. :^) SERVICE: The people that helped us out were very kind and patient with us! Not much to say other than I was truly pleased after leaving this place. OTHER: Parking is not a drag at all. You can park right up front but if you enter the little plaza and drive straight down you’ll see tons of parking. The restaurant itself is pretty small but when my friends and I went there was only one other couple, but later on there were more parties so I don’t think you should be too worried about not getting a spot.

Solid spot to go to for dumplings and to try huoshao! This is the first place I can remember having huoshao, and it’s definitely worth trying once. We came for dinner on a Sunday night around 7:30pm and they were still busy during that time. We lucked out and grabbed the last table for two. It’s a small place, so not a lot of seating is available. However, we were able to order right away and the food came pretty quickly. We tried: –Beef Huoshao(6 pieces, $ 5.99, ): Yum– I loved the flaky exterior and the beef filling was nice and flavorful. Highly recommended! –Three Deluxe(Pork, Chive, Shrimp, $ 8.99, ): Yum– solid dumplings, and the skin tastes homemade. Recommended! –Noodle w/Meat(Cold Version, $ 7.99, ): Just ok. The noodles tasted fresh, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the flavor of the meat filling. I probably wouldn’t order this again. –Mixed Cold Seaweed($ 2.99, ): Solid version of seaweed, and very fresh, but very garlicky. Not recommended for a first date, but otherwise, recommended :) We had a great meal here and I will definitely be back for more huoshao and dumplings. The menu is pretty limited but you don’t really need to stray from huoshao/dumplings. Service is decent for a Chinese restaurant, and they speak good English. Parking was easy since they have a big lot.

I really like this place! It used to be the Tong Dumpling House and looks almost identical. They have a very slight variation in the menu, but if you are going for dumplings it will be pretty much the same. It’s owned by a young Chinese guy, but his parents are often there helping. Great place and they want you to be happy with your food! I did get a few lamb dumplings by accident in a batch of pork dumplings and after they acknowledged the mistake they gave me a full order of the pork ones to go. How’s that for great service? You won’t be disappointed.

Enjoyed my shrimp, pork, and chive dumplings and the lamb soup’s subtle flavor(the server let me know that the soup is not salted so that each person can salt it to taste). Will definitely be back to get the frozen dumplings.

Everything on the menu is really good and authentic, from the cold dish appetizers to the huoshao(roasted pastries). You can tell the noodles and dumpling skins are hand pulled because of the nice, dense consistency. The steamed dumplings definitely are more northern style, and did an awesome job satisfying the craving for homestyle Chinese.

More like 3.5 stars. Being a northerner, I love my dumplings. I was really excited to find a mom and pop place selling dumplings and other dough-based delicacies with decent reviews on Unilocal. We tried the three deluxe half pan fried, half boiled. However, while the skin of the dumplings were good, the filling was lacking flavor. I think the pan fried ones tasted better due to the lack of flavor of the filling. I’m not sure if it’s the batch I got, but I’ll try them again just to see if it was a batch issue. I’m also curious about the huo shao and will have to try them next time.

Fuji Huoshao & Dumpling definitely satisfied a craving. While xiao long bao have a fairly good representation, there are fewer pure dumpling houses. IDumpling in Redwood City is one. Fuji Huoshao is another. The restaurant space is small but clean and is located on the far right side of the shopping complex off of Miller Road. There are only about 5 – 6 table tops but service was prompt. Each table has a simple picture menu that makes ordering easy. A few cold appetizer and noodle dishes round out the dumpling selection. My order: Lamb Soup — $ 5.99. You have the option to choose either meat or organ. A savory broth arrived shortly and is garnished with some cilantro. Flavor was solid(boiled for hours) and the server suggested I add some salt as desired. Simple but comforting. Triple Deluxe(Shrimp, Chive, Pork) Dumplings — $ 8.99. $ 1 surcharge for pan fried. A plate of 12 dumplings arrive and they’re tasty and fresh. Dumpling skin is moderately thick but enjoyable pan fried. Think the $ 1 extra difference for pan fried is a bit of an unnecessary surcharge. Beef Huoshao — $ 5.99. A plate of 6 small deep fried flat pastry dumplings filled with ground beef. Flavor is good and the pastry is nicely flakey. Overall, I had a good meal at Fiji Huoshao. If you’re in the mood for steamed dumplings, there aren’t a lot of options in this area so it’s nice to see this strip mall expand beyond the popular Mango Garden. I thought the prices for the cold appetizer were a bit steep($ 2.99−5.99) given the size and ingredients and the same might be said for the simple dumplings. Nonetheless, the dumplings reminded me of a meal I had in Shanghai. It wasn’t my most memorable meal but hit the spot. Fiji Huoshao & Dumplings accepts credit cards but only above $ 20 minimum and not American Express.

Pan-fried dumplings(3 deluxe) were great, but a little pricy at $ 10⁄12. We also got beef huoshao, which were much smaller than the picture suggested — only about 2″ in diameter. They were a little dry and ratio of outer carbs to inner filling was kind of high. I might come by to buy a bag of dumplings to-go in the future.

Mom and pop shops are, lots of times, some of the best places to get some of the most delectable food around and Fuji Huoshao & Dumpling is no exception. It is a small restaurant in the back edge of the strip mall with Safeway and Mango Garden. It wasn’t hard to find, but just a little bit of a trek since I came in near Safeway. Their menu is limited with some items being authentic and eccentric for some people’s palates(lamb organ soup, anyone?). We’ve been there 2 or 3 times, so far, but have always stuck to different variations of the dumplings and the beef huoshao. For the dumplings, you can get about 6 different kinds. My favorites are the Three deluxe with pork, chive, and shrimp or the pork and cabbage version. We first tried it the normal way of steamed, which was good. But now, we get it fried(for $ 1 more) and turn it into a potsticker. Much better in my opinion. While the dumplings are juicy and well-seasoned, my favorite here is the beef huoshao(you can also get pork). It is a meat pocket in a pastry and it is heaven on earth! The meat is savory and delightful and the crust stays crunchy even after a few hours. For $ 5.99, it is a little expensive. Especially since each piece is pretty small and you only get 6 pcs. While it’s an excellent dish, $ 1 per piece is a little too much. I’ve also ordered some of the side dishes, but I wouldn’t waste your money. Instead, just get more huoshao!

Honestly, I was expecting better. Not bad, but I wasn’t too impressed. The menu is pretty small, but it’s good if you’re looking for something simple and easy. Between myself and two friends, we had two orders of dumplings(lamb & onion and pork & cabbage) and an order of beef huoshao. It was just enough to fill us up to a comfortable state, but we could have probably done well with another side dish or two. Quality of the food was pretty good, although I have had better. Service was mediocre. No attention was given to us besides placing our order, delivering our order, and giving us the check. One guy seemed annoyed when we asked for extra bowls, which was a little off-putting. No one smiled and everyone just seemed like they were in a bad mood. Not the best impression to send to your customers. I think this place is worth trying, especially if you’re really craving some dumplings, but otherwise it wasn’t a very outstanding experience.

I really wanted to like this place, because the owners/employees were nice, but the bf and I agreed that the food was just okay. I was hoping for more flavorful dumplings like Din Tai Fung… We ordered 3 dishes: THETHREEDELUXEDUMPLINGS — Pork, shrimp and chive dumplings. The dough wrap was not too thick or thin. The filling was very chivey and could have used a bit more shrimp. A little bland for my taste. There is white vinegar, black vinegar, soy sauce, and chili paste that you can mix together to add some flavor. BEEFANDPORKHUOSHAO — These are smaller than the picture makes it seem, thankfully! These three dishes together were super fulling. Huoshaos are flakey pastry pies, similar to pâté chaud, but flatter/more compressed. These were bland as well, but I preferred the beef to the pork. There’s decent value. Everything was about $ 20 and they take credit for $ 20 and up. There is limited amount of seating, but we went on a Friday night and there was still plenty of tables left. They do takeout and bulk ordering for cooking at home — options are fresh and frozen. Pretty convenient if you want to have some dumplings to eat at home. Also, they make dumplings behind a glass divider so you know they’re super fresh!
