Evergreen Village Square is a hidden gem of a retail center within a well-to-do neighborhood with excellent schools nearby. It has several good small shops but it has struggled for a long time when Lunardis the anchor store left. Now, a neighborhood Walmart supermarket has taken Lunardi’s place which seems to be doing better business than its predecessor. A new library is being built and several new townhomes as well. The focal point of this center is a beautiful fountain. During the morning, there is a group of elderly Asians practicing their tai chi. On Wednesdays and Sundays, this center hosts a farmer’s market. During the summers, it hosts live music on Friday nights and sponsors movie nights. Throughout the year, it also hosts some cultural events and holiday events for families. Some businesses have done well and some had closed their doors. What’s puzzling is that there is a nice retail space next to the burrito store that has never been rented. Someone should open an Asian restaurant there(Indian or Vietnamese) to appeal to the large Asian community in the neighborhood. Or, open a martial arts school as this area is lacking in it. There are so many kids in the neighborhood that a martial arts school would do well. Look at the KO Karate school in the Foxworthy Shopping Center as a model for this center. The parents of those martial arts students frequent the Starbucks, Zanottos, Subway, Giorgios, and Chinese restaurant place a lot.
