Elite Barber Shop

If I could give this business zero stars I would. I walk in because I needed a hair cut and just so happened there was this barber shop next door. When I walked in, I can immediately sense that I was not welcome. Not by the customers but by the man who calls himself the owner. I’m Mexican but I’m very light skinned so I look White or Italian. If you’re not African American you will be treated like trash here.
When I walked in the owner said,” Can I help you?” He said in a very confrontative and displeasing tone. And don’t even get me started at the way he looked at me. It was disgust on his face. Still not sure what was happening by reflex I responded «I would like a haircut.» The owner said it’s by appointment only to which I replied,
«Great. Can I make one.»
«You have to call in.»
«What’s the phone number?»
«Look it up.»
I decided to stay and ask the older lady that was working there since she was almost done. At first glance she seemed sweet. She was also African-​American. I couldn’t believe that if he was the owner she should miss out on a sale. I ask her and I get the same reaction. She actually even looked at the owner for approval before she could say if she had appointments available. She checks her agenda and magically is booked all the way up to two weeks.
Both the employees/​owners are African-​American and both are racist when it comes to offering their services to anyone who isn’t of the same race as them.

Most people that have been in San Jose for a while know about Elite barber shop. This shop has been in existence for more than 25 years. I have personally received cuts there for at least 10 years. If you want a professional cut in a calm, clean environment this is the place. They cater to everyone. The owner and her son run the place. Trust me it would be difficult to find a better barbershop anywhere. They do walk-​ins but, its best to make an appointment as they are very popular on the weekends. I like appointments because I go at my appointed time, sit in the chair and leave with a awesome cut without having to wait. I’ve moved further eastward away from San Jose but, I often come back for a cut at Elite.

I just drove around for a very long time trying to find this place, I walk in… nobody is in the chair but the barber will not cut my hair because he says it’s «appointment only». There is no sign posted that says that, nothing online either. He doesn’t tell me any available openings, so I walk out super irritated. Obviously didnt want my business. Borderline racist towards white people — be aware.
