We’ve never been to a Dickey’s before but have heard great things. We stopped into this one to grab dinner to take home. There were four of us trying to decide what to order. No one was behind us or in front of us, so I guess the guy at the counter was bored. He kept tapping his knife impatiently and staring at us. A little creepy but still decided on the family bucket. Then he tells us they’re out of ribs. Isn’t that some important information?! He clearly couldn’t be bothered to mention that to us while we were standing there and deciding. We walked out without ever trying the food. Very disappointing!

Went there for lunch with a friend and her son. The food isn’t bad for fast food bbq although I was disappointed in the fried okra(not seasoned well), being a recovering Okie I take my okra very serious. ;) Liked the self serve ice cream though. I will probably go back if I’m craving bbq on the quick…

First time there(next to Jerseys Mikes)… I like the fact you can choose the meat and it’s the same price for a sandwich… cut fries pretty good as well… didn’t know til after that you could have free ice cream for dessert, but yeah, that’s a plus too… decently priced, though a small soda is a bit high(and regular size even more out of the range of possibilities for what it should be from a dispenser)… also the staff were very nice.

6÷21÷2015 Worse experience ever for BBQ. The food is mediocre at best but the service is beyond pathetic. Mind you there is a sign on the wall that states something like«Slow cooked BBQ Served FAST»…we had ordered on the phone for a 2:00PM pick up. We arrived just after 2. Got in line and when I finally got to the guy behind the counter I inquired about the phone in order. he looked at the wall and said«OK. have a seat and we will call you when it is ready» 20 minutes later a couples guys behind the counter had left to get themselves a drink and returned and all 3 behind the counter were chatting and laughing… I got up and asked about the order we had called in and then was told«we are out of mac and cheese and are making it now». Mind you all the while they were taking walk in orders while we waited and I asked about it and this guy just made excuses as to the delay. One was actually, and mind you this is word for word«Well what do you want us to do, package your order and leave it in the heat lights all morning or do you want it fresh?» That wasn’t the point, why take a call in order with a time to pick up and not have it ready but still take walk ins? When we asked about the manager the cashier pointed to some lady behind him who just was making the mac and cheese and walked back and forth ignoring the small commotion. These jerks just gave excuse after excuse as to the delay, especially the younger guy who was taking the orders. The cashier kept apologizing while this jerk who took the orders just spitted out excuse after excuse. Horrible CS. On top of that the table we waited at was filthy, sticky and crumbs all over. We told the cashier this was our first time there and the experience was horrible he replied«Well I am very sorry and the next time we will do better»(or something like that) but I said«There won’t be a next time» he said«Well that’s your choice» …not a «I’m sorry, but give us another chance» or «Again I’m very sorry and I do hope you would reconsider». These guys are so bad at customer service and speed it is amazing they stay open. Only after I asked about some type of compensation did we get a couple coupons for free sandwiches but for sure if we do return to this est. it won’t be the San Jose branch because frankly they suck.

Unfortunately the worst bbq I’ve had. I ordered the three meat platter. The meat was reheated and lukewarm. The pulled pork was dry, and the chicken was sliced and tasted like sandwich meat. The ribs are okay. Also, they only have plastic utensils.

06/11/2015 this was the first time we came here. We came during dinner. Immediately we looked at the menu & ordered. I ordered rib plate which came with amazing ribs with the sweet bbq sauce & with 2 sides, which i ordered waffle cut fries & those waffle fries are perfectly seasoned & are addicting. I ordered a small waffle fries to-go with my leftover ribs. My bf ordered the 2 meat plate, which he ordered chicken breast and honey baked ham with loaded potato casserole & waffle cut fries. Definitely will be back… i think the rib plate with waffle fries will be my go-to order. I love how they have 3 diff bbq sauces for you to ladle on your own. There was original, sweet & spicy.

Today we walked in with my wife expecting the best since she raved about the one she used to go to in Pleasanton and it was my first time. Oh, how dissapointed we were :( We walked in and stood in front of the«Order Here» sign. No «Hello», no «We’ll be right with you» just an awkward stand off until my wife initiated a «Hi there». Even then they didn’t let us know if they were ready to take our order. The simplest tasks were lazily ignored. We didn’t even get a thank you after we thanked them for our low quality food. The brisket was drier than the sahara and the cheddar sausages were colder than their welcoming attitudes. Overall, the lack of costumer service and poor food quality means we will never come back.

Portion sizes are pretty good for the price. The barbecue sauces are amazing and the meats are tender. You also get free soft serve ice cream which is pretty cool!

A good first impression. I thought it would be more ‘generic’ since this has grown into a chain but i thought the quality of the beef brisket was really good. I like the dish where you get piles of shredded meat and you can share it with others. Free Ice Cream. Will be back.

PILE ‘O FAT Ordered the Smokehouse Salad, which is essentially brisket on top of romaine lettuce with barely noticeable cheddar and a few fried onions. It runs about $ 10. The brisket was nothing but big ‘ol slimy globs of fat! I kept trying to take bites, but it was wet and slimy and mushy, and couldn’t be chewed. The color was even off. Gag me! I can’t remember the last time in my life I’ve had to remove food from my mouth and wrap in napkins… through the whole meal. I would not even feed that to my dog. Very poor quality. I won’t be eating here again.

I’ve heard a lot about this place and decided to give it a try, only to figure out I will never be back here AGAIN. We ordered the brisket, polish sausage, and BBQ beans. The meat itself was good, but on the dry side. We were so excited to try out the BBQ beans until my girlfriend looked down and saw a dead fly in her bowl! I confirmed it myself, and immediately brought it to the guy at the counter. I point for him to look at the fly, and his first response is «it’s part of the beans. «Hmm, I didnt know flies were a side dish to a side of beans(sense the sarcasm). He offered to swap it out, but we gladly declined. It was a struggle to enjoy the food here after that incident. All I could think about was who else ate from that same batch of beans or what else is going around in all the other food. Stick to Famous Dave’s for some legit BBQ.

This is right by our weekend house. A friend of ours loves this place, but the Unilocal reviews are less than enthusiastic. We got a flyer with a coupon, buy a drink– get a sandwich. Okay, we are in. Sadly the drink was $ 3.(oh and we split a sandwich and onion strings) For $ 5 we had a mini-feast. I enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich — it was a bit dry, but nothing a little BBQ could not remedy(The BBQ sauce-2 varieties, regular and spicy are in vats and simmering over by the self-serve sodas). I did not realize they have free self-serve ice cream cones too — so for $ 5 this place gets 3 stars. Not quite sure I would go back any time soon since there is better BBQ in San Jose, but glad I tried it and happy to have checked it off the list.

I was perfectly happy sitting here at Dickey’s enjoying my meal until I saw the guy who prepares the food run over to the trash can, push open the lid with his hand, and then return to work without changing the gloves he was wearing. Yuck!

For a BBQ chain, Dickey’s does things well. I routinely go here with my boyfriend and his mom for lunch or dinner(usually on a Sunday) and we order a 3 meat combination thing with extra buns and an extra side and it’s usually enough to fill us up without feeling disgustingly over stuffed. We usually choose the brisket, sausage and pulled pork with mac n’ cheese and coleslaw as our sides. I like to take the little bun and cut it in half for a meat, mac and coleslaw sammich. But what I really get stoked on at Dickeys is the giant jar of complimentary house made pickles, and unlimited soft serve ice cream, which I can only guess would pretty much be any pregnant woman’s dream. So. if your baby mama is craving pickles and ice cream, but you are also hungry for some meaty goodness, Dickey’s should be at the top of your list.

Being from the mid-west and having traveled to Kansas City as well as Texas, I had a pretty high expectation of BBQ So I came here after work and although it was not crowded, it felt like the portions I got for paying for a 3-meat platter were rather small to the point of almost being paltry The beef brisket was alright but mostly dry. The meat was nice and tender though My pulled pork was really dry The ham however was pretty good Mac n cheese sides were okay but nothing too special Parking lot is a slight pain given the nearby places All in all, not the worst BBQ I’ve had but sadly still searching for a nearby, decent BBQ place :(

What can I say about Dickey’s… Top to bottom this is the most badly managed restaurant location I’ve spent time in. To break it down. During a rush the wait line is horrendous. In part because they placed the cashier counter backwards. The line snakes through the middle of the restaurant when it easily could have curved against the wall on the opposite end. If the soda machines were placed on the opposite wall where customers could easily fill and refill their drinks instead of pushing into a line and back again, the flow of the space would be much improved. Tommy’s Joynt in SF is a great example of how a meat place/BBQ joint can quickly serve customers specialty ordered meats. Dickey’s is not quick by any stretch of the imagination as it took 15 minutes just to get through 5 people in line. Dickey’s run’s out of sides, plastic wraps meat and doesn’t seem to mind cross contamination of different meats. I was so used to Tommy’s Joynt and everything being freshly cut off the bone, all the sides being visually available and wiping the cutting board between slices that at Dickeys, a plate of mixed meats being moved around several times, off the bone, akin to dinner leavings was almost repugnant. The entire 45 minutes we were there no associates cleaned, cleared or washed anything leaving the tables used exceptionally dirty. This added to the expense of the food for the smaller portions and the sides that were both too salty and too bland made this one of the most frustrating experiences of my week. I would caution anyone eating here with any meat allergies to beware the cross contamination. As for me? I will never return.

I really love this place — it’s a bit on the pricey side as BBQ tends to be so I don’t eat here often, but when I do, I always order the chopped beef brisket and their rolls to make the most awesome mini BBQ sandwiches. My picky son LOVES these and asks for them all the time. The ribs are also very good and tender. Another sweet thing about Dickey’s is that they have a little station where you can grab and go BBQ sauce, pickles and ICECREAM! YUM!

This is fast food barbeque so you can’t expect awesomeness. It is what it is. I ordered the 3 meat plate with beef brisket, more beef brisket, and pulled pork with a side of cole slaw and waffle fries. I think the price was 13.50 before tax for this 3 meat plate. The pulled pork was average; nothing so great about it. The beef brisket was tender but not flavorful at all. This place uses an electric indoor smoker to smoke their meat but the meat did not have so much smoke flavor in it. The coleslaw was good and the waffle fries were standard. Overall the place is decent for fast food bbq but I’m not keen on paying 14 bucks for average fast food bbq.
