Phở was pretty good, they need to clean their shrimp a little more thoroughly. The fresh rolls and fried rolls are yummy! Over all good!

Wish I Unilocaled this place before it closed. Located in the heart of San Jose. Walking distance from the hotels especially for those healthy folks. A few blocks away from some of the popular museums. Staff was quick to seat us upon entering. Plenty of seating. Water was provided and drink order taken near promptly. I had a coupon offer where I was able to apply to every one at the table. I ordered very common Vietnamese phở with beet tripe, meat balls, and likes. A good amount of noodles and accompaniments. Broth was good. Semi complex with flavor. Noodles tender but stuck a little. The jalapeño and sprouts were spicy and crispy. The phở was good. Bill settlement was quick. Good: friendly and accommodating staff, phở, and quick. Bad: just wish I had room to eat more. Shame place closed down.

I went their today as I had a hankering for LemonGrass Chicken… do you know how hard it is to find amazing lemongrass chicken? Let me tell you its far and few between. If the owners are reading this. the flavor is great! Would like more lemongrass flavor less oil. That would be my only complaint about the dish… the chicken was presented in a pool of oil which the rice soaked up. This came with soup which was nice. I also ordered the garlic chicken wings… would not waste your time on these as there are better wings out there. Would like to have had some thai chile with the lemongrass chicken to spice it up

I love this place! My friends eat here pretty much every Wednesday and invited me along a few weeks ago. I am hooked. I even bought the t-shirt. Try the fried tofu appetizer. You won’t regret it.

As a bit of a phở slut, I am picky about the broth. This is the real deal. They make theirs from scratch and you can tell on the first sip. Rich, full of flavor. For 6.95 you get their small bowl which is huge Lots of meat A fabulous deal.

Among the worst if not the worst experiences I have ever had in a dinner spot. The only redemption was the fact that they let us leave without paying. We ordered: Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Vermicelli with Shrimp(hold the Pork), and Vegetarian Phở, and a Root Beer. We got Spring Rolls with Shrimp and Turkey(we saw the shrimp and do eat seafood occasionally so we started eating) we did not see the turkey. Vermicelli with shrimp and a load of pork, Phở with Chicken Broth and a Soda with no glass or straw. Okay so if that ain’t bad enough the waiter argued with us claiming they had no vegetarian spring rolls on the menu. We walked.

Came here in December after a drunkin night with my friends. I got the usual rare beef tripe tendon. It smelt really yummy when coming in. There was a lot of people in there actually. I wasn’t expecting much but not oh boy the broth was so delicious!!! My bf ordered the ox tail and that was really nice and tender. I’d really like to come back to this place but of course parking sucks. I took home the rest of my bowl, and I always finish my phở. But I was wayyyy to drunk. I ate it the next day and it was still super good.

Da Noodle. Funny name but it was the closest noodle house to us that was fairly well rated. Decent Vietnamese food in the area. Comforting, cheap eats after a night of binge drinking always does the trick for me.

My old co worker was talking about getting grilled beef with vermicelli when he was back in Boston. As we were looking for a quick bite before an event we walked right in front of Da Noodle. Guess what my co worker got? Yeah, so I tried to get the oxtail phở special but they didnt make any because of the recent lunar new year with the main chef being out. Phooey. Got the #8 which was pretty much everything in it. It was decent but I was hungry like 1.5 hours later. For a quick cheap bite it’s probably hard to beat but as for super good Vietnamese food, just make your way down to 11th/12th and Santa Clara

Love this place! This will be my forever go to place for phở. I always get the same thing«Ox tail special.» We were also given complimentary bone marrow, which was surprisingly delicious :)

Don’t let the renovation scare you off, this place is actually pretty awesome. First of all, check in for a free soda, which is nice. Second of all, just get the oxtail soup. How often do you get to eat oxtail, anyway? It’s large, it’s hearty, and tasty. My particular bowl was fall-off-the bone delicious, and they gave me several«rounds» of beef, which I greatly appreciated. They also have the full compliment of traditional phở sauces, which I really liked, because literally every single place in downtown SJ doesn’t have them readily available(well, except Dac Phuc, but that place is terrible for other reasons). As people have mentioned, the service isn’t *stellar* but recently they hired an server who speaks perfect English, is friendly, and is pretty cute(is that okay to say? Probably not.) So you don’t have to worry about talking with your hands anymore. As an Asian male who speaks no Vietnamese or Chinese, trust me when I say that this is a relief. Final thoughts: they also have a «frequent customer» card that you can rack up 10 stamps on per meal, and presumably the 11th bowl is free. If I worked two blocks closer(city hall, anyone?!), I’d be there all the time, but alas, I only have two stamps as of wrtiting this :( Still, I’d go back. That oxtail was tasty. Oh, and they take card. Score!

My friends and I came here when we realized that the Tofoo place was all vegetarian with imitation meat. I was not feeling that and we wanted some good ol beef phở so we went to this gangster sounding place called Da Noodle. I ordered the Oxtail beef phở that they recommended. I wasnt expecting much from this place since there werent enough reviews but when you want phở, you will settle with any phở. I was actually pleasantly surprised because the meat was actually pretty good. It comes with a big piece of meat that comes off pretty well off the bone. Usually phở doesnt have chunky substantial pieces of beef so I appreciated that. The other slices of meat were super tender and not all rough so I liked that. The noodles were thicker than the usual vermacelli noodles so that was different. The only downside was that the soup was not the best. It wasnt very flavorful but I still had the aftertaste as if I had loads and loads of msg. I am not sure if I still felt yucky from the night before but I felt weird after eating the phở. Regardless, I liked the bowl and if they fixed the broth, it would be even better. **TIPS** 1) They accept credit card. 2) Get the recommended oxtail phở. It only comes in large. 3) Soup is somewhat bland so you should add some of dem sauces. 4) Check in and get a free soda! 5) Enjoy!

Best Garlic Fish Sauce Wings at 2am on a Friday and Saturday! I initially ordered the 6 piece but I made a big mistake since I found out after finishing the last piece that I just COULDNOTGETENOUGH! And mind you, these wings are HUGE! So I ordered another batch. Long story short, I ate every last piece! Advice: Get the 12-piece($ 9.95). It’s a better deal than the 6 piece at $ 5.95. Trust me. It’s worth it!

After a long 4 hour drive from Yosemite National Park to San Jose, we got to our hotel(The Fairmont) at around 7 pm. We were pooped and starved. I was craving phở and looked up the phở options around our hotel. By the time we were freshened up, it was 8 pm so note that a lot of the restaurants close at 9 pm. As we drove down Santa Clara St. our destination was actually closed #fail so we ended up at Da Noodle. Can’t ignore the bright phở sign in the window! Street parking in front, as we walked in it turned out we were the only customers. Peak dinner time, on a Friday? Not busy? Worried looks on our faces. But once our food came, we knew that Da Noodle is pretty good! We both ordered phở with rare steak, both without cilantro, his with extra onions and mine with meat outside. Sometimes places mess up our order but Da Noodle didn’t. Woohoo! There was a mound of noodles, good broth, and fresh meat. Just the way I like it! Now onto the appetizers. yes, I purposely am talking about that last because that is the order in which our food arrived. We ordered spring rolls and fried tofu… So this is where one star had to be docked. 1) I don’t know about you but I prefer appetizers to come before the main dish. We got the tofu the same time as our phở, and the spring rolls came when we were half way done with our phở… However, I have to say that the fried tofu was SUPERBOMB. Just perfectly fried cubes of tofu that’s perfectly seasoned. It was amazing, seriously. 2) This has got to be the only Vietnamese restaurant that says spring rolls = summer rolls! We wanted spring rolls… you know, the deep fried rolls with pork and stuff inside, that comes with vermicelli, lettuce and fish sauce… not the cold wrapped shrimp rolls that come with peanut sauce(summer rolls). But since that came so late into our meal, we decided to just take it and not say anything lol. It was still good, don’t get me wrong, I love summer rolls too! Since our phở came before the apps, we ended up being too stuffed to eat the summer rolls so I asked for a box… the guy asked what the box was for, and I said for the summer rolls. He corrected me and said,“you mean the spring rolls?” So I just said ok, whatever, lol. So overall, I think the food is good and reasonably priced. Just thought the order that the food came was weird, and the spring roll thing. Lol.

Don’t get the wonton soup. The meat tasted frozen, the meat in the wonton is overly seasoned with black pepper, the amount of noodles is just way too much, and make sure your server knows what noodles you want otherwise they will serve you the wrong one. Oh and getting food poisoning from it afterwards was not the business. Otherwise, staff was nice and friendly.

I have recently changed my opinion of this restaurant. My co-workers and I would come here for lunch 1 – 2 days a week for phở or other noodle or rice dishes. It was always really good. Today my husband joined me for lunch. We sat for 15 minutes after ordering our drinks. No one came back to take our order. I have a set amount of time for lunch, so I was getting concerned that we wouldn’t have enough time to eat once we finally ordered. The waitresses had such tunnel vision, that when they came out of the kitchen I couldn’t even flag them down. Then two more sets of customers come in. They are immediately seated and their orders taken. Meanwhile we are sitting there with our menus looking around trying to get anyone’s attention. But the straw that broke the camel’s back was this: We were sitting near the back of the restaurant with a sight-line into the kitchen. One of the chefs dropped a tupperware container of food on the floor, the entire contents of the tupperware spilled out. The woman picked the food up with her hands, scooped it back into the tupperware and put it on the prep table where she was working on the food. It wasn’t until she looked up and saw that we noticed what happened and grabbed the tupperware and threw the contents away. The guilty look on her face said enough. We left without placing an order and no one even noticed that we walked out. I will never return to this restaurant. It is a shame because we enjoyed the food while it lasted.

Formerly Lan’s Noodle House and before that Lang Chay, Da Noodle’s specialties are Bun Bo Da Nang(as opposed to Bun Bo Hue) and Oxtail Phở(Phở Dui Bo Banh Phở Tuoi). I think there was an option for fresh noodles for all the phở for +$ 0.50, but they come standard with the Oxtail Phở. I got the Oxtail Phở($ 8.95) and Cha Gio(egg rolls, $ 4.50) The Cha Gio were just OK. A little on the greasy side and didn’t come with any lettuce for wrapping /dipping( ) Good size bowl of steaming soup toppped with scallions and white onion slices( ). It comes with your typical condiment plate with basil, sprouts, jalepenos, and lemon wedges and I got the rare steak on the side( ) Broth was beefy and lightly spiced and I thought some MSG from my slightly cottony tongue as my meal progressed. The fresh noodles were excellent. Pretty skimpy on the oxtail which might have been for the best because it was on the tough side and needed more cooking time to tenderize. I’ll give the Bun Bo Da Nang a try, but will skip the oxtail in the future.

Where da heck you at? Da Noodle! DUH! =P The place definitely has an interesting name. I thought it was just another mediocre phở place that popped up, but then my friend was boasting about it. Besides, I’m all about the oxtail phở. Not many places have it. They’re located across the street from city hall where Lang Chay’s second location used to be. If you get lucky, you can find some street parking right in front of the place, but there’s a parking garage you can park in nearby, too. It’s a relatively small restaurant, but it was kind of empty on a Sunday night. Maybe because not many people know about them yet. They actually a diverse menu even though their name doesn’t show it. It’s not strictly noodle soup, but they specialize in it, so why have anything else? Their oxtail phở is pretty good. They give you plenty of meat and I love the taste of their tender, fatty oxtail. The oxtail gives their broth tons of flavor. And it looks like they might use fresh phở noodles. Always a plus! They also have their own version of bun bo hue where they cook it with beef short ribs! I like it, but it’s almost like a watered down version of regular bun bo hue. Either way, if you’re a phở lover, this is definitely worthy of trying. You might even find that Da Noodle is da bomb. =)

Bun bo & Oxtail Phở… Oh my Phở’king goooodness… This is some of the best damn noodles I’ve had in the longest time… Great service as well, especially allowing this place to get situated after the grand opening. A bit of a drive from my office but food’s so good, it’s worth getting a scolding from management for a 1.5 hour lunch. P. S. Bring some quarters to feed the meter… First visit cost my co-worker $ 30 for parking.

I’d like to think I’m a pretty hard critic when it comes to Phở, however, this place got my approval. Their broth is both rich and flavorful. They serve their Phở with fresh noodles, quality steak, well done brisket and tender, fall off the bone OX-TAIL! It is now my new favorite place to go for good quality Phở. The Bun Bo Hue here is also insanely delicious. You can tell the broth is authentic; just how my mom would make it. Simmer the bone over a few hours to create a spicy and complex flavor. They give you fresh mint, cabbage, bean sprouts which add depth of texture to the dish. I’m salivating as I remember how delicious the BBH was! Unlike other Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to, I’m always impressed by their fast and attentive service. None of their food servers sit down. They’re always briskly walking up and down the aisles refilling water or cleaning and refilling the bottles of hoisin and chili sauce. The place is very clean. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to any phở lovers or anyone seeking a good and authentic Vietnamese restaurant in San Jose area.
