Dude! First time going and this place is freaking awesome! My bf and I loved it. Awesome atmosphere and the live bands are kick ass! I’m like where the hell have I been! Lol. Definitely going back! Just needs to have more space.

My kind of joint! Punk/Metal Dive Bar! Loud music, cool Bartenders, and decent prices! If you haven’t grown up in the scene, then you ain’t bout that Life! — — — – \m/— — — – One minus Star for NO Moshing or anything remotely close to that. Or you’ll get removed…

this place is ok if you know what you are getting yourself into. its not dangerous by any means, but it doesn’t have any thrills/personality/character i mean this place is beat up, old, and dark. really odd mix of people who stop in. bartenders have been ok/decent. nothing exciting. if your coming to get drunk your going to have a good time. this place isn’t going to bring the crowd or atmosphere. good place for the regulars.

The bar is a smelly outdated stank hole, they need to do something about that asap. The regulars and bar tenders made me feel welcomed.

Love the place! Full of personality(best bartenders ever including the baddest Miss. Bev!). Biggest little dive bar ever! If your in San Jose, make sure to stop at this place for some tough love and even tougher drinks!

I’m a big fan of dive bars and this place is my number one spot! Cheap drinks and really great, friendly, speedy service. I always meet a ton of really cool people here to boot. The only complaint I have about Caravan is that they play live music on on certain days of week… which doesn’t seem like bad thing, right? Unless you’re in a tiny dive bar with a heavy metal band 10 feet away from you blaring their amps as loud as they can go… Buuuuut that definitely doesn’t scare me off from here. All it’s divey goodness out weights the one negative aspect of this place. Sunday and Monday karaōke nights are the best! In my closing statement, Cinebar is for snobby hipsters and Caravan is where all the cool kids go ;)

The Caravan is pretty much the definition of a dive bar. It’s dingy and dark, and you never know what kind of character you’ll run into there. The live music is rarely anything to rave about and usually way too loud. The drinks are not Cinebar cheap or Cinebar heavy, but you have some options when it comes to price. Despite it’s appearance, it’s a good place to go get a drink in peace or hang out. The crowds can get large and wild on weekends but you won’t usually see any trouble makers. You’ll seldom find wandering college students hanging out here.

Came here during the day on my day off and was nor impressed. The bartender was really nice but the crowd was full of tweekers and low life’s. The bar smelled bad like the drain was backed up and not cleaned out, almost smelled like a fart. Beer was fairly priced but I won’t come back, not on my own decision at least.

I love this place! Cheap beer and friendly bartenders. This place was voted the most sexy/dangerous place to drink.(well I added the Sexy part) Still a lot of fun. The live music every thursday — Saturday night is hit and miss.(mostly rock) There’s never a cover unless there’s a cover. Pool table is free to all. So grab some hearing protection and a Tallboy of PBR and have a good time!

This placed looked bigger from the outside but inside feels smaller. I went here to see my friends punk rock band play and it definitely has that vibe to it. Mostly an alternative and down to earth crowd, basically a dive bar. They do have a pool table so if you are a pool player you’re in luck, but they cover it during shows.

What seems to be a typical, adequate dive bar is in fact a hipster bar. We were given last call at 1:35 and drinks were being pulled by 1:40. Some pink haired friend of the bartender(tattoos of Andy Warhol on his arm – give me a break) was trying to pull drinks even though she doesn’t work there. I was followed into the men’s room at 1:49 to hustle me along as I tried to pee. As my friend and I were followed to the door at 1:51 by the hipster douchebag bartender with a key in his hand to lock the door I couldn’t help but notice that pink haired girl and several other friends were still present about to be locked into the establishment. What had been a nice, fun evening for a couple hours deteriorated drastically in the last ten minutes. As a man who has enjoyed dive bars all across the country, I’ve rarely been so quickly turned off to a place as I was at the end of the night at caravan. I sure hope the bartender with the dumb tatoos really enjoyed whatever bullshit private party he had after he threw us out cause my group and I will never be back. No doubt he could care less but maybe the owner would. And if that guy is the owner? He’s a colossal idiot of epic proportions.

From the point of view of a performer at that place, I could not be more outraged at the sound guy, who is actually the security guy/bouncer. The jukebox was still on through the speakers while my band was performing on stage. Will never play there again.

Mandatory Monday Night Karaōke… it did in fact seem mandatory to know the KJ, or regularly attend the bar, if you wanted to sing. I was there for 3 hours and sang two songs… that had an hour and 20 minute wait between them. I’ve been to plenty of busy karaōke bars(in SF) where the same happens, but this place is not in SF and it was not that busy. Nearly everyone else in «the rotation» sang 3 or 4 songs, including a girl who showed up over an hour after I did. I didn’t finally get pissed off until I went up to the KJ to check when my last song would be coming up(it was 1am) and I looked at the bottom of the list that was sticking out from under his laptop, my name was not on it. He slid out the rest of the paper from under the laptop and there was my name… at the top of the list… it had been skipped by at least 6 people. Awesome, right?! Overall, the caravan is a decent dive bar. Most of the people are fun, the drinks are affordable and well poured, and it’s a chill place. But, Monday night karaōke… never again! Karaōke is supposed to be fun and inclusive. If you want to have a karaōke night where only your friends can sing, host that shit at your house.

I love this place, they dont make you feel unwelcome like they do at cinebar and they do not charge random prices for the same drinks I had bough five minutes ago, all in all this is the best spot to go to that has a better atmosphere :)

Definitely one of the better bars I’ve been to that regularly has bands play. There’s no designated stage area, but the bands just set up at one end of the bar. It’s spacious and what I like most about it is you can sit at the bar and enjoy the show rather than leave the room to either grab a drink or watch the band. You can do both! The bar tender that was working the night I went to see my friend’s band was pretty cool, too. He was pouring generously and struck up a conversation with every single one of us sitting at the bar. This also happened to be the night that the last first season opener of Breaking Bad premiered and once I noticed it playing on one of the t. v’s, I frantically asked the bar tender to change it. He fully understood and happily changed the channel. That, to me, is a great bar tender! The only thing I would change is the fact that PBR cost $ 4. That’s a little steep for a cheap beer. Perhaps it was because there was no cover charge. I’m used to paying around $ 1-$ 2 for PBR, but it won’t keep me from returning next time there’s a show! Just no moshing and the bar is cash only.

My Grandfather used to wait here until we picked him up. I used to wait outside here in my youth for someone to pick me up. For the first time in my life I was taken past here for a drink and upon arriving at the door I was asked for ID. I showed my ID and was asked to take it out. I told him it was stuck in there and offered my Passport and told that was not acceptable. Fair play to my friend who grabbed me and said no way were we going to custom a bar that did not accept a federal form of ID. Where do these young hipster upstarts think they are? Sorry, I will never step foot in this shithole, poseur bar ever no matter the history. Pure Shite. 27/01/2013

Great live rock music! Affordable drinks! One drawback: when there is a band playing, there is not a lot of room for people to watch. I always feel like i’m in someone’s way or someone is in my way. It’s very cramped and awkward.

Five stars? Why the hell not… Reasonable prices. No weak drinks. Draught Bud, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Pyramid Haywire, Guinness. $ 4PBR tall boys. Sundays $ 1 hot dogs. Most importantly, live music! No cover charge. Solid fifth star? Women’s restroom has toilet seat covers. This blows my freakin’ mind. Does this mean the Caravan can still be considered a dive bar? Hell if I know, but my butt thanks you.

Went to see a friends band play here recently. Tiny, grungy little bar with heavy handed cheap drinks, occasional loud ass live music, and an entertainingly dysfunctional crowd. Terrible and sketchy in a perfect sort of way. You won’t find me here by myself, but if I was in the area with some friends — why the hell not. Be nice to the bartenders. They’re worth it.
