Came here today for a quick bite. Got the three meat panini and an iced tea. The total was about $ 14; a little pricey for the small quantity. Overall, the sandwich was okay, not much flavor but had exactly everything that was described to be in it. The overall environment of Café Frascati is really nice. I wouldn’t mind coming here to study or hang out… just not too interested in coming here for a meal again.

Café Fraacati, where have you been all my life? My friends and I just discovered this gem of a coffee shop today and my only regret is that I live too far away. I love everything about this place. It’s a cozy wood clad interior which is reminiscent of an old café/coffee bar in North beach. The lady taking the orders was very warm and I loved, loved, loved the barista. I had originally ordered a soy latte, but noticed the patron before ordered an almond latte. The barista warmly offered to add a little almond to my latte and I tell you… I’m hooked. That is my new favorite drink! He made it perfect as well. It was the perfect combination of well-Brewer coffee, expertly prepared froth/cream, and the perfect temperature. Barista’s got skills and is easy on the eyes too! ;) Highly recommend for a coffee and/or wine! Cheers!

I work just up the street and have heard nothing but praise for Caffe Frascati for months. Actually, you can find a lot of our staff sneaking away to hide out here and get work done. They have a second floor which is great to just plop down with a cup of coffee and work away. The secrets out guys! It’s a little cold today to I thought a nice bowl of soup and some bread to dunk in it sounded yummy so I figured Caffe Frascatti would fit the craving. Super cute place, very comfortable and has a total coffee house vibe. The staff are friendly and and helpful. I looked over the menu on the overhead boards and decided to go for a bowl of the daily soup(clam chowder) and the spinach and mushroom croissant. The nice man behind the counter asked if I’d like my croissant heated and I thought that was a great idea since I was taking this all back to my desk(Lunch hour? What’s that?) He range up my order and I have to admit I was a little shocked that my total was almost $ 12. Wow, this better be fantastic! My soup came in a small coffee cup with a lid and a spoon taped on top and once my croissant was heated he handed that to me in a little white bag and back to the office I went. I literally walked a block and a half, sat down, opened my little white bag, took a bite and … cold. My croissant was cold. grrrr. However it was tasty. Unfortunatly my soup was also cool by this time so again, I was a tad disappointed. Spinach & Mushroom Croissant — Lots of tender sauteed spinach and perfectly cooked mushrooms tucked into a soft buttery croissant. I wouldn’t recommend heating it up because it turns a little to buttery and limp. Clam Chowder — Average at best. Some chowders are thick and hearty and others are delicate and creamy. This is on the creamier, looser side. The flavor I thought was just okay. Not bad just nothing to come back for. My overall assessment is that this is a great place to come, grab a coffee, meet a friend or to get some work done. The Café is comfortable and the staff are friendly however my lunch was just«okay» and I felt was a bit over priced. With so many lunch options downtown, I’m not sure I’d be in a rush to come back.

Great ambience. Great for coffee lovers according to my coffee crazed friend. There’s also a piano if you want to improv. They also sell beer. Good Sunday morning experience.

The first time I came here, I wasn’t too impress. The drinks and selections were mediocre. It looked nice, but it just seemed okay. The second time however, I felt that it was a very nice community coffee shop. My opinion on the drinks and selection is still the same, but what stood out to me was when it turns night. Caffe Frascati hosts many musical performances. They have a little calendar that shows all the upcoming performances. My girlfriend and I came by one day to just relax and read some books. We saw that a band was going to perform and we ended up checking it out. It was a Celtic band, and they were amazing. We watched them from the 2nd floor. The only issue I can see with this is when people are trying to place their order. It might be a little too loud, I saw a few people having a hard time talking to the baristas. Overall, I think this is a nice place that has potential. I just wished they had better coffee choices.

I come here every morning since I stay at the Westin around the corner. Really good breakfast and coffee options. Haven’t had a chance to visit in the evening, but the atmosphere looks conducive for a live band.

1 star for the coffee being decent and the girl barista with short hair was nice BUT the guy who took my order and rung me up was rude, instead of gently placing my card back on the counter he chucked it along with a pen. I hate that, don’t be rude! And it was my first time so probably never coming back or referring this place!

This coffee shop offers good customer service, tasty desserts, and mediocre coffee. During my first visit, I ordered a Croissant Sandwich with ham, egg, and cheese($ 6.95), and a large Caffe Mocha($ 4.95). The first thing I noticed when I received my sandwich was that it had a long curly hair in it from the woman who prepared it, so I took it back to the man who was working at the register and showed him the strand of hair and he had his coworker prepare me another sandwich. The second sandwich was prepared faster this time(awesome, right?), but I noticed something was missing: there was no egg… I took my second sandwich back to the same guy at the register and he had his female coworker prepare a third sandwich, which not only included all of the ingredients that I paid for, but it was also toasty and warmer than the previous two sandwiches she prepared for me. Regarding the caffe mocha, it was lukewarm, but I decided to stick with it and drink it as soon as possible, or risk having a cold cup of coffee by the time my third sandwich was prepared. My first visit would have probably scared most people away, but I decided to forget about it and give Caffe Frascati another shot. During my second visit, I ordered a Salami Panini($ 7.95), a large Caffe Mocha($ 4.95), and a slice of Napoleon Cake($ 4.95). The panini included peppered salami, provolone cheese, arugula, and roasted red pepper pesto sauce between two tasty slices of bread. On their own, the ingredients were great, but altogether, the sandwich wasn’t that great, which was mostly due to the peppered salami’s flavor being so bold that the other ingredients were almost nonexistent. Regarding the caffe mocha, it was lukewarm again… The cake was definitely the highlight of this visit, as it was rich in flavor and lived up to the other cakes I’ve had from Dianda’s(Note: Caffe Frascati doesn’t make their own cake, they get their cake from Dianda’s cake shop, which has two locations in San Mateo and San Francisco). During my third visit, I ordered a large Caffe Mocha($ 4.95), and again, it was lukewarm… I’ve never experienced lukewarm coffee at any other coffee shop, so I’m not sure what the deal is at this place. If I ever go back to Caffe Frascati, I’m going to ask them about this.

I love working on my projects here(when there isn’t loud but wonderful live performances) The staff here is great and have no problem starting a friendly conversation with you. The drinks aren’t extraordinary but I’m rating this place for the atmosphere. It’s a good place to escape to on a Thursday night with work to finish. The crowd consists usually of quiet college students looking to work on some assignments and older professionals meeting colleagues over coffee. I always encounter artists of some sort here — it’s awesome. It’s nice that you don’t have to worry about rambunctious teenagers going in and out of this place like at say, Starbucks. Wifi, outlets, plenty of seating, good music selection, and sweet vibe.

Comfortable hangout with good coffee and snacks. I have indulged in their eclairs more than once. Not too sweet or filling but still have flavor.

Live music, calming atmosphere, beautiful interior, strong and tasty espresso, great snacks, and a second floor. What more can you ask for of a coffee shop? Introduce yourself to the artists. I met one who’s so passionate about music but also has a degree in political sciences and a double minor. Major props to you man! He was so down to earth and chill to talk to; I’m sure they all are as well. Amazing vibes.

Best cappuccino in the downtown area! So many feels when I think of it. Also, this place is a really good study space, except during warmer seasons because the ventilation and AC is not proper upstairs.

I’ve been going here for 5 years now and it’s exactly what you look for in a café. Besides the obvious: really, really good coffee… The ambiance, THEWI-FI, the available space, whether table and chair or comfy couch, and of course the laid-back staff make this the only café I would deem worthwhile to spend any coffee-drinking or non-coffee drinking time at. F#%@ Starbucks. Go to Café Frascati.

I came because my big sister was singing Opera on a first Friday, and it was so much fun! What a great idea! Everyone just hung out & enjoyed each others’ company & performances. Ordered a bottle of the house red — um. Not good wine. But it got the job done, and a good time was had by all. Didn’t get to try any of the food or coffee, but I fully support small business supporting the arts in the community.

Ordered a cappuccino. Pros: cool place. Has a homey feel? Could use a remodel… Cons: instead of micro foam they decided to use macro foam… it looked like a kid blew bubbles in milk… They left the shot alone for over 5 mins before pouring the milk in. Tasted horrible. Asked them to remake it… they all looked at each other like they didn’t know what to do. Didn’t get it remade. Checked my credit card statement… charged an extra 2 dollars on tip that I definitely didn’t give. Wouldn’t recommend.

Came by for an afternoon snack the other day and the experience left much to be desired… Ordered a Mocha and it was okay, although the $ 4 charge for the mocha was less than was on their menu at $ 4.55?!? …the mocha still had chunks of chocolate at the bottom… :/ Ordered a Napolean which wasn’t too fresh… :/ …After checking my credit card statement, the café added $ 2 tip to my take out order…

My favorite coffee shop in downtown San Jose. Live music and awesome coffee and pastries. Feeling like back in a Barcelona coffee shop every time that I go, with someone at the piano and cool people at the terrace outside making downtown San Jose a littler prettier. I like the big lattes presented in glass, no mugs, no paper cups. Pastries are always fresh. I also like to check info posted on their walls as you get to know what is happening in the community, so is a resourceful place overall.

Service has been great. Food is always good. I like the vegetarian panini. For breakfast the veggies from the panini go well on the ham egg and cheese English muffin. Live music a few nights a week is a great time. Frascati is also a favorite for working/studying because of the option for capuccino or beer, and lots of outlets to plug in.

I got a small hot chocolate. $ 2.99 for a small. I finished it in, like, 7 sips. I definitely wasn’t expecting it to be that small! Why does it feel more expensive than Starbucks? I felt a little cheated but then again I don’t drink coffee so I’m not used to paying premium for café/coffee drinks. Open mic night on Tuesday so it was way cramped in there. I felt pretty claustrophobic but it was cool seeing the café lively with other people and performances. Some of the acts are questionable(musical acts were good but the stand up comic was unbearably awkward). There’s street parking but don’t count on it. Not a bad place but considering it’s out of the way for me, I don’t think I’ll be back.

I think this is a good coffee stop downtown with some other choices for food … but really it isn’t great for coffee in general especially when you stack it up against B2 in San Pedro Square and even Vevo(sp?) down the street in that new 1st street market place area. I like this place because it’s open late and looks old school. There are a lot of people here enjoying some drinks and food prior to theatre shows at the California Theatre, and the staff is very friendly. They sometimes even have live music on weekends! Kind of a cute place to hang out when you are looking for a non-alcoholic option.
