Brickyard Condos

yet again the thieves strike at the brickyard condo’s. Because the drive through gates are left open all day and not monitored, the thieves can come and go at will. My car was broken into and belongings taken. The belongings were not in plain sight and not valuable. That being said, the workers here should be responsible for providing a security guard for the wide open drive through gate or keep it closed as it should be. This is not a one time occurrence, it is over and over and nothing is being done about it. This is not a safe place to live. Renters and buyers beware.

lived in the brickyard since ⁸⁄₂₀₁₄. Had a bike stolen out of the locked bike cage in the underground parking garage. The bike had two locks on it as well both of which were cut. Street parking is a pain if you do drive and there is no elevator to the third floor which makes carrying bikes which we now store inside all the more difficult.
The hot tub is nice

I visited Brickyard today for an open house on a 1 bedroom unit; currently there are three for sale. I drove by at night the night before. Fairly dark, quiet street. Lots of random places on the street other than this property. Looks like there are building a new one next door. There are a few houses directly across the street. It’s a one-​way street. Wouldn’t walk around at night. Nothing in walking distance. Not far off the freeway. Further down the street toward 280 seemed to be a lot of old 2-​story duplexes.
I returned today for the open house at noon. Not much street parking. I wandered the property before checking out the unit. Dark hallways. Amenities are decent. As I headed to the unit, I ran into a male resident and asked him if he would recommend the property. He immediately said no. He states that he is a renter. Issues he mentioned were plumbing and burglary of bikes and packages. Coming in I had pretty much decided that I wouldn’t consider buying in the area as it wasn’t recommended from what I found in research and talking to a friend who knows the San Jose area.
The unit was nice, staged well. Really liked that the bathroom could be accessed without going thru the bedroom. View from the balcony was just the building. Would be curious is the noise from the pool gets trapped in the inner part of the building where it might be loud for units facing inwards.
I might be otherwise interested if the area was better and burglary wasn’t an issue. At least the front of the building is secure but it leads me to believe that residents are possible stealing from other residents. The real estate agent said the property was 47% owner-​occupied.

The complex itself is great. The layout of the condos also very well done, but the problem is people who own pets here do not pick up after their pets. There’s pet poop in some of the grassy areas where there shouldn’t be. I mean c’mon people. They provide doggie trash bags for a reason.
Parking for guests is pretty much street parking and for some odd reason, third street gets fairly packed so it’s hard to get your VIP in front of the complex.
For the people that live here, there’s a gated parking unit under the complex, but be careful because the dip is really steep so go really really slowly.

I love the complex itself. But we’d been here less than TWO weeks and had BOTH our bikes stolen from inside the parking garage. That’s ludicrous. If you’re considering living here and have bikes, either keep them in your apartment or try getting access to the bike cage inside the parking garage, it looks at least a bit more secure than the garage itself has proven to be. If only I had a bike to put in there to see…
The BBQ and pool area is lovely. The gym is fine, some of the equipment could use an update and they could do with a couple more machines but really its fine. All the meeting rooms are great to use too.
The apartment itself is really nice with pretty good quality fixtures etc.

Lived here for a year. They have a lot of plumbing issues which causes them to shut off the water once a month. Other than that, I didn’t have any other complaints! Great atmosphere, nice pool.
