We waited 45 minutes for our food before we asked for it to go. Took another 10 minutes to come out. The soda machine was broken so it took 20 minutes to get our drinks. Keep in mind that the entire time we where here there were only FOURTABLES being used. First and last time we come

Beware of the full knight armor on the left of the door when you walk in, it scared the pants off me. I ordered the Italian sausage sandwich and it was delicious. The server said the sausage is made in the kitchen! I also tried some of the fish and chips. It was also good and didn’t have that frozen fish taste. Our server was attentive and friendly, always a plus. I minus one star for the bathroom being dirty. Overall I would come back.

I wish I had read the reviews here before buying the groupon. Overall it was an ok experience — but much too costly for the quality of food. I’m going between 2&3 stars because the service was good — but food and price bring it down — after all the food is the main reason to go back to a restaurant. The Good: The service was the best part of the experience. Everyone was very nice and attentive. My BF got the Gilroy steak and he did say it was very good. It was fun to fondue. And the food was filling. The mixed: Inside the building was an odd mixture — overall it was a nice environment with lots of light. But it also looked like it had seen better days. It wasn’t crowded but felt empty. The Bad: The food was incredibly bland. We started with the cheese fondue which, while fun, was kind of tasteless. We then had the clam chowder soup. Both the soup and the fondue had an odd skin layer over like it had sat too long but both were hot when we got past that layer. I got the prime rib and garlic mashed potatoes. Like another reviewer I could smell the garlic but couldn’t taste it.

*I made Champagne Brunch a reality when it was only a thought early one morning(last week). It was an excellent choice! It’s as if the heavens opened up and angels started singing and playing their harps for me. My wife didn’t have to hear me complain about the bland taste of food, customer service or ambience. No not this time. I am very pleased with the whole experience. Do you understand the magnitude of this? You should know by now. I am a stickler for Customer Service and I am a bonafide food snob. There I said it. And that’s ok. I’m paying for it $$. I’m eating it. I have earned my Right. I am a gourmet chef and an artisan baker. **Oh did I mention they have excellent friendly Customer Service? Our servers were very friendly, smiles and attentive and they deserved their generous tip(It’s an art). The floor plan feels open and airy, elegant décor. Clean and well stocked. You can either walk down the carpeted stair case or take the elevator to the restrooms.(no ghetto graffiti on the walls when I visited Jan. 2016) Loving this new location for my favorite restaurant. The Bold Knight is where I first took my girlfriend, now wife for the first time. They relocated(torn down) the old building and I thought my beloved Bold Knight was only a memory of yesteryear. I was wrong. It’s New and improved and beautiful. Everything I sampled in their Champagne Brunch was delicious. Now, I must sample my all time favorite steak & lobster tail dinner and their famous cheese fondue once again. Overall I and the Mrs’s is very pleased. We will return over and over again.

We went to dinner here last night and I have to say it was excellent! I had their Cajun pasta dish(wish a lot of shrimp and scallops!) which was absolutely delicious, and my husband had the Bold Knight cheeseburger with a side of onion rings which he said was pretty good. I give it 4 stars because I think they are a bit pricey. Bread was served, however each dish came ala carte. The pasta was a generous portion for $ 19.95(I took home half), but a small side salad would not have cost the restaurant much, and would have rounded out the meal nicely. The burger was $ 14 and came with no sides. Onion rings were extra, and they were good but for $ 6 he only got 5! Had a couple of martinis for $ 5 each too; they were tasty but not very strong. All in all I would come here again, maybe next time I will try their breakfast! Didn’t know they opened for breakfast.

Just no. We were a party of 9 and requested separate tabs, which they honored so that was nice of them. But that’s about it regarding the pros about this place. The food had no flavor at all. I got the Bold Knight burger and it was disappointing. I could make a better one at home myself. I tried the cajun seafood pasta and thumbs down. Someone ordered garlic fries with their burger and we were all confused because we could smell the garlic, but couldn’t see/taste it. Turns out their garlic fries are regular fries sprinkled with garlic powder on top. What? For the price of the food I was expecting at least something average tasting. At least pieces of garlic on the garlic fries? Maybe I came here and ordered the wrong food, but I couldn’t get myself to order steak based on my impression when I entered. Their Michelada was not good either, couldn’t taste the beer and there was barely any spice. It tasted like watered down Clamato with a touch of lemon. Their Chavela wasn’t any better either. The cheese fondue? Good thing it was free… Wouldn’t come again nor recommend.

Dined at Bold Knight for Sunday brunch. Service was very good, and those of our party who ordered the buffet enjoyed the food and selection. Father-in-law ordered a Greek omelette, which he liked. I was the only one unhappy with the food. I ordered biscuits and gravy. Gravy was goopy, tasted mostly of flour, and by the time it hit the table, the top layer had congealed. The biscuits were tough. And the sausage was cold. I sent it back and went with the buffet instead.

That’s it for you, Bold Knight! You suck harder than anyone has ever sucked, ever! How in God’s name can you be closed for lunch on New Year’s Eve?! Do you know there are some big college football games on today?! I curse you for the rest of your existence! I try to take it upon myself to help out the little guy, but no Mas! You have ruined it for every little guy everywhere! Ended up going to BJ’s and had a very nice lunch(absent the losers who frequent your dump!). Shame on you — shame, shame, shame! You are on the naughty list!

Came in for a Groupon. I was apprehensive due to the bad reviews-but pleasantly surprised. I’m a huge steak eater so my standards are very high and I must say the ribeye was pretty good! Service was fast and very pleasant. Manager checked on our table several times and made sure we were well taken care of. Maybe the servers mentioned in the other reviews have been replaced. Anyways I haven’t done a Unilocal review in a while but felt compelled to share. Check it out!

We’ve dined at The Bold Knight 3 times, and my rating has changed from 3 to 4 stars. Why? On our most recent visit, we got a genuinely friendly greeting, followed by a free cheese fondue. Our server was very good and had a nice, warm smile. That was followed by a very tasty Veal Saltimbocca(my wife enjoyed her chicken piccata). On previous visits, the service wasn’t as good, the food wasn’t as good, and there was a huge, loud party going on in the basement. I guess you could safely say that experiences at The Bold Knight can vary wildly.

Got a water, not offered anything else to drink… we ended up getting a burger because everything else seemed lacking. The burger was ok, I wouldn’t come back again. The fondue was velveeta. I used to come here as a kid, it was beautiful, the food was amazing and the staff was such high quality. Not what it used to be, that’s for sure

Came in for the breakfast buffet and another success at my favorite San Jose pit stop, the Bold Knight. Awesome service, excellent food and for the price you can’t beat it! I’ll be back for sure! Buffet is stocked with fresh perfectly cooked eggs of every style, sausage, bacon, french toast, fresh fruit… list goes on. They’ve another section for a south of the border style breakfast which I’ll be back to have next week. Just couldn’t take another plate. Shout Out to the gorgeous server with the pink tie which made my stay all the much better. Best in San Jose!

Back in the 80’s The Bold Knight was a consistently good steak house. Those days are LONG gone! This place is an atrocity and indeed we look forward to the next restaurant in this location because surely this place will go out of business soon! When we pulled into the parking lot we didn’t know if they were open or not because there were no cars in there.(Note: when that happens, keep driving!) We should have known by this omen, but we persevered and dared to enter. Indeed there were NO other customers! We reluctantly sat down wherever we wanted thinking that we’d at least get good service. Sadly that was not the case. We ordered and a solid 20 minutes went by and no food, and no server giving us an update. I finally had to get up and ask what’s going on! The place was empty! We were immediately delighted to see fondue on the menu and promptly ordered it. I LOVE fondue, but truly I’m not sure what to call this thing! Their«fondue» is really melted velveta or cheese whiz! They should have served this stuff with tortilla chips because I’ve had better nachos than this. It was so bland and sticky and you could feel it coating your internal organs as it went down. I’ve never not licked the fondue pot clean before, but, suffice it to say there was plenty left. The fire to keep it warm was way too small and low to do anything, but as it turns out we didn’t need it since it was so horrendous. The steaks my co-diners had was shoe leather. They wanted to send it back but again no wait staff, or even a buss person to do so! The only slightly enjoyable thing was the alfredo sauce on the side of pasta that came with my meal and the baked potato that came with their steaks. At these prices I expected MUCH more quality of food and service. Tell your friends to skip this place and tell your enemies to eat here. We should have gone to Togo’s up the street!

This is a place that should be ashamed to use the name Bold Knight the service is TERRIBLE the FOOD is over PRICED I went there on Saturday and we got cheese fondue it tasted old and the bread was stale they served our entrees before our salads then my GF had to ask them twice for our salads the food was ok you will get better service and quality of food at Black Angus at half the price the party downstairs was way too loud and over crowded the parking lot is way to small and the restaurant is in a bad location If you want bad service low quality meals at high prices then the Bold Knight is the place to go if they closed their doors tomorrow they would be doing San Jose a big favor !!!

Came here with a Groupon for 2 people. Only 3 tables were occupied. Ordered 2 wines, took a long long time for being served. Prime rib was decent size but dry. The veggies were standard. Overall food was basic and service was slow but acceptable. Must be a reason as whole restaurant but for 3 tables was empty on a Sunday night.

I have so many fond memories of meals at the Bold Knight on Monterey Rd. When my mother in law suggested the current location as our dinner stop before our night out I was really on board. Really all we really craved was the cheese fondue. We decided to just meet at the restaurant. To save time since we had tickets theater tickets, I asked to be seated and let the host know I wanted to order while I was waiting for the rest of my party. I let him know there would be two adults and two kids. He promptly seated me and gave me a menu. After about 10 minutes someone came to bring me water. I had to ask if there was a kids menu, which there was. This was pretty irritating since I had already explained to the host I wanted to order right away and that we would have two kids with us. As soon as he returned with the kids menu, I immediately ordered. My mother in law and boys arrived a few minutes later and shortly after that our fondue was brought out. Tasted just like I remembered it, but the bread did seem a little on the stale side. Like it had been cut up in cubes and sitting out instead of being cut fresh for our order. Our meal arrived quickly. Nothing too exciting, chicken strips and pizza with a side of fries for the boys. I didn’t try them, but my 9 year old said the chicken strips were delicious and wanted another order. The pizza didn’t look all that exciting. I just had the crab cakes appetizer since I had a large lunch. They were great! I would come back just for those. Our server checked in often, served us promptly, refilled our drinks without us needing to ask, was quick with our check. We were in and out in less than an hour which was our goal.

I came here at 7pm with my family of 3 last night. Our server was sweet but the food took forever… we waited for our bread and butter for 1 hr… and another 30 minutes for our food to come out… when we pulled up to the parking lot there was about only 5 cars… when i came inside there was about 3 tables? So many im guessing 1 cook and 2 servers thats why the food took so long? Anyways the food was good but i dont think id come back if i have to spend 2 hours total for dinner with my 3 year old that cannot sit still…

The worst restaurant I have ever been to.EVER. I ordered the cheese fondue and it tasted like you were eating a brick of salt. It was absolutely disgusting. My fiancé had the pepper steak or something like that it was as tough as can be. I ordered their most popular seafood pasta and it was tasteless. What a waste of money and this place will definitely be shutting down soon. Terrible.
