Between my two children, we spent four years with Mrs. Deborah at BVJS(fall 2009– spring 2013). My children are very different, and both had a great experience. When I looked for preschools, I really wanted something play-based that would recognize the research stating that children need pre-school to learn social skills, not for academics. That can be difficult to find in the hyper-competitive Silicon Valley. Pre-school should be about social skills and hands-on learning, not worksheets. Deborah’s curriculum fit what I was looking for to a T. BVJS does just that, while still ensuring that children have the academic skills required for entering Kindergarten. It also allowed me to be involved with their preschool experiences in a way that worked for our family. The best part of BVJS, though, is Mrs. Deborah. She truly cares about each of her students and gets to know them as the unique individuals they are. She is patient and caring, but also firm. At BVJS, your child will learn to set goals, find joy in the world around him, take risks, and have fun. It was a great experience for our family! I truly appreciate the care Deborah takes with her students. Both of my children were well-prepared for school after leaving BVJS(one for Kinder, one for TK) and have had positive experiences building on what they learned at Joy School.

We had a wonderful experience with Joy School. 13 years later, we are still singing the songs! Mrs. Deborah is a very experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic teacher. She really makes the days fun. Deborah’s style fosters the children’s natural creativity and a love of learning. She also teaches about good values and responsibility. I can’t say enough about her program.

We just finished up our 1st year of Joy School for our 1st child and like many 1st time moms sending your child off to school I was hesitant to say the least but within the first week my daughter loved it. I love that Mrs. Deborah focuses on the love of learning, and the child as a whole. My personal belief is that the first years of school should be about developing the individual to love learning, exploration, and how to interact with a supervisor other than parent as well as other students and I could not be more pleased with Joy School. My daughter thrived, made incredible friends and loves to learn while I loved the individualized attention, small class size, helpful moms and home environment. We highly recommend it!
