Ken deHart is the tennis pro and he’s as good as it gets. Ken is patient and gregarious. He is also a hell of teacher. He’s good with little ones or adults. He works with what you have and coaches you gently into correct form. I’ve taken a bunch of lessons from him, and others in my 25 years of tennis and can support no better

This review is for group tennis lessons, the only interaction I had with the club. A friend and I decided to learn to play tennis during November. We played a bit on our own, but decided some lessons would help us. As we work and live relatively close to this Racket(er Racquet) club, she looked up group lessons there. We called and spoke to the tennis manager Rodney who is a very nice guy. The rates for group lessons are great! We signed up but they will only run the class with 3 or more students so we were told to wait and they would let us know before the first day of class if class was going to happen. I think we ended up calling them to check as the days drew closer, so be prepared to be a little proactive. Our instructor was very nice. I don’t remember his name at the moment but from the looks of the place I bet all their instructors are equally great. They take care to have an adult class so we didn’t have to mix our lessons with kids. Turns out the third person never showed up to any lessons, so we had 2-person lessons for a great price. The instructor told us he may be able to get deals on certain equipment, so if you didn’t buy a racket yet you can consider asking if they will provide different ones for you to try during your lessons, and then decide only at the end. I had all my gear so didn’t pursue that. The only downside is that even though you are taking lessons, if you aren’t a member you cannot use the courts not even to warm up! I thought this was not super friendly, but the group lessons are cheap enough that this was ok, there are other courts even with lights in south san jose. Overall, if you’re thinking of tennis lessons you should check out Almaden Swim and Racquet group lessons, the staff are great and extremely knowledgeable, the courts they have are beautiful, and it’s a good deal.
