I have seen Dr. Goldsobel at both the Blossom Hill and the Moorpark office. I have also taken my toddler son to see Dr. Goldsobel. In the three visits I’ve had with him, he has been nothing but exemplary. He is kind, an excellent listener, fully engaged in your concerns, and skilled with small children. My son is what you would call«slow to warm up», and downright afraid of doctors in general. Dr. Goldsobel uses tried and true techniques to help the child become comfortable with him and the different medical equipment(i.e., I’m going to look in mommy’s nose, now I’m going to look in your nose.) and he just generally seems to like kids. There is a «gallery» of his own son’s art up on the wall in one of his exam rooms(although he is grown now) and a gallery of signed photos from athletes with allergies/asthma whom have seen Dr. Goldsobel.(Also kind of cool.) If you’ve never been to an allergist, you need to know that the appointment *does* take a long time. First, you have your vitals taken and then wait to consult with Dr. Goldsobel. On average I wait about 20 minutes. Then he consults with you at length and determines if/which allergy tests need to be done. The nurses gather the appropriate materials while you wait. They administer the test, and then you wait again, about 15 minutes, for the results to appear on you or your child’s back. In my experience, the nurses do try to administer the test«scratches» as efficiently as possible. Waiting for the reading afterwards can be very itchy business. It is difficult to keep a small child happy when they are itchy and can’t scratch it, so come prepared with your very best material for this portion of the visit(i.e., iPad, snacks). After the nurse records the results, you go back to your exam room and wait again for Dr. Goldsobel to return. He is seeing other patients at this time, so the wait can feel a little frustrating, but I don’t see a way around it. I can’t imagine him sitting outside while you have your allergy test done so that he is immediately available when you are. Anyway, you consult with him again about the results, make a plan of action, and he answers any questions you have. Any visit that requires an allergy test takes an average of 2.5 hours, in my experience. Dr. Goldsobel has never directly discussed the financial aspect of treatment with me, but personally I feel that is an issue better directed to the receptionist/billing person. He has, however, recommended ways to save money on medications such as the epi-pen. Overall, absolutely five stars in my book for both him and his staff.

Be aware of hidden fees! Know what you are getting yourself into here. I made an appointment with Dr. Goldsobel for allergies, he arrived an hour late and then sent me in for some allergy tests. My appointment lasted about 1.5 hours(well 2.5, since i spent the first hour waiting). The billing for this appointment was over $ 1,900!!! Insurance covered most, leaving me with a $ 360 bill… no one made me aware of the magnitude of the costs for these simple allergy test… pretty unethical and not a way to earn referral business.
