A small market where you buy cigarettes, food, drinks(no alcho-holic), and stuff. It’s ghetto in san jose sometimes and the cashiers can be a little bitchy but the place is cool. The owner mike is cool af too.

The owner is usually working and he’s a cool guy if you are a repeat customer. That being said, the place is slightly over priced in comparison to places like seven eleven. The other reason for the star deductions is that they do not carry any alcohol. The bums outside are annoying but typically harmless. The place kind of gives off a grimy vibe but at the end of the day they have most of what you need at 2am.

The people watching in and outside this place is probably more interesting than the selection. Was trying to find an unsweetened iced tea and they even had the brand I wanted. Just not unsweetened. The owner was no where to be found until I left the place and then he came out to ask if I needed anything. Hmm a little too late.

If you are looking for something quick and you are about to get on the bus, this is probably the only place you can go to. Pros: 1. The bus line is right by it. 2. They have coffee, heated up food, and smokes. Cons: 1. Too many homeless people asking for money. 2. Sometimes the guys don’t act nicely. 3. Overpriced smokes. Except for the cheap brands. It’s the only place I would go if I need something quick. Other than that, I try to stay away from this place.

I will never buy anything from this place besides cigarettes if a 7-Eleven isn’t around cause they overcharge for cigarettes too. Ak has the good fortune of having pretty much the only liquor store on Santa Clara Street between 2nd Street and San Pedro, so if you’re hitting up the bars/clubs in this area and you’re in need of a smoke, this is your closest bet for a pack of cigarettes. I plain and simply just refuse to buy food or beverages from a liquor store that tries to sell knock off shoes and hyphy t-shirts too. And just as I don’t eat at the same places I go clubbing at, I won’t buy shoes from the same place I buy my cigarettes from. All the homeless people in Downtown San Jose and not so elegant people who take the VTA Bus Line 22 to work in the morning seem to hit this place up for coffee and donuts in the morning. But I’d have to pass on that. This corner actually used to be a post it spot for Downtown San Jose’s homeless population. Until VTA wasn’t having it anymore and upgraded the Santa Clara light rail stop and the bus stop seats. Plus there was a big drug problem going on in this intersection during the day. If you took a bus line or the light rail at the intersection of Santa Clara Street and 1st Street, you’d be able to tell that this intersection is Downtown San Jose’s mini version of San Francisco’s Tenderloin District. And yall know what goes down over there. This is probably 1 of the ghettoest liquor stores you might find yourself coming into in San Jose.
