I always see Unilocalers checking in to this place! Finally stopped by for a quick breakfast with another Unilocaler, and this place is quite good! Kind of a very old fashion theme, but it’s a nice cool touch :) Walked in and was seated very quickly, kind of a small restaurant, so I assume this place can get very busy and crowded. Anyway, the menu is kind of confusing and overwhelming to me. I ended up ordering the breakfast special (biscuit and gravy with eggs and 2 slices of bacon) for $ 7, which is a very good deal and very delicious: D It might not look very appealing on the plate, but I promise you it’s yummy and they had a bottle of green sauce which I really liked! Everything else on the menu is reasonably priced and portion size is very generous, just don’t do side order — it can be pricey! The waitress was very friendly and service is very quick too! I definitely recommend this place and I’ll probably go back to try something else :)

I love this place and I started coming here a few years ago and continued to come 1 because the make a good crispy hash browns and now I ask for crispy and they say sorry cant do it so I was like wow I just want the owner to know I come from gilroy to eat it the way I want it so please bring back the crspy hashbrows lol other then that the food is great!

Walked in this morning and saw the waitress cleaning off the bar I asked the hostess «can I sit here? is this open seating?»
She snapped at me and said how many? I said 2 she then said «uh a no!» I then said okay have a great day!
I didn’t appreciate her attitude it wasn’t welcoming or friendly never coming here again!

I would say this is one of the best breakfast spots in San Jose! There chicken fried steak and gravy have set the bar high and have the best hash browns in town! The wait can be long sometimes but what good restaurant don’t have a long wait? If your looking for good breakfast then this is the place to go!

A party of 5, we arrived at 10am, waited 35 minutes under the rain and in the cold. When a table finally got available we weren’t allowed to seat as one of our guest was missing (we were 4 out of 5), so we were asked to wait outside till our 5^th guest would show up.
This is not only very rude it’s also very silly: Had we been seated we’d have start to order drinks and snacks.
So…we waited 10 more. Then… From the time we were seated and the time we got our food we waited another additional 40 minutes!
The place itself is old and quite dirty in the kitchen and behind the counter (you can see the inside of the kitchen while going to the restrooms), also, much dust on the ceiling lights.
The food: large portions but quite greasy. Hash brown taste very oily. Low quality ingredients.
For the same amount of money do yourself a favor and go to Bill’s were you’ll be treated with respect and enjoy much higher quality food in a clean environment!

Instead of writing a essay I’ll just say this, if you have a 45 min time limit per table so other guest can dine in I would advise you not spending 20 min to make the food. Sorry but I’m takin my time and eating I have 20 more min as far as I know

Let me start this by saying that I love food. I give any restaurant a fair chance and I do not have a weak stomach, it can handle pretty much anything.
However this restaurant if I could give it less then one star I would. Let’s begin with customer service. The hostess at the entrance could not have cared any less about my arrival, no smile, no anything. She sat me at the counter, which is fine I was alone. As soon as I sat and before I even had a menu there was another lady saying «what do you want?» I looked at her like «I don’t even have a menu.» So she gave me one and said again «what do you want?» As if she had forgotten that she just, 20 seconds ago handed me a menu. How should I know?! I digress.
So I decide to order the chicken fried steak. Because come on how can you go wrong with chicken fried steak! It came with a side order or 2 eggs (any style), hash browns, and either toast or biscuits. I went with sunny side up eggs and biscuits, because that’s the obvious choice.
When I got my order I was so excited to consume it. But upon «cutting» into the chicken fried steak I was disgusted. Now usually chicken fried steak is a flattened out piece of chicken that is breaded in goodness and slathered in delicious white gravy. Let me tell you that I do not think there was any chicken in this thing. It looked like it was mostly a mixture of breading with tiny tiny scraps of chicken. The gravy was also too thick. So I decided to skip the «chicken» fried steak and eat the harsh browns and eggs, cause eggs. But to my dismay the eggs were horrible as well and the hash browns tasted like cardboard. And let’s not even talk about biscuit, those were horrible too. I felt horrible after eating it and being charged $ 10.78 for a horrible meal I would not feed to anything let alone anyone, is outrageous.
In summation this restaurant is gross, please don’t go there.

PROS: Like that we don’t have to wait too long, especially as popular as this place is AND the construction that is right in front of the establishment! Food is AMAZING… LOVE that it’s right by my house too!
CONS: Maybe the buffalo meat is a wee bit freezer burned… that may be my ONLY complaint; I had the buffalo patty, and I can taste it may have been in the freezer a bit longer than it should… eatable? Yes! But can I detect it? Yes… LOVED my husbands Italian sausage though, yum yum! Can’t wait to return.

First timers and it was really good. Huge portions and quick service. My husband ordered the huevos rancheros and he said it was a very spicy.

I hate doing this because I love supporting small local business but I couldn’t muster up 2 stars at all. First off, it sucks that there isn’t a decent breakfast/​brunch place in Berryessa/​North Valley so we’re forced to come to places like this or go to a shitty chain like Denny’s.
— Coffee was watered down
— Ordered a bowl of fruit and got about 8 slices of canned peaches. The menu should just read «canned peaches»
— Ordered a side of sausage patties which come with two patties. One patty was half the size of the other patty all for $ 5.25. I could buy a whole package of patties for $ 5.25.
— Chicken fried Steak was dry
— My partner came home with an immediate stomach ache.
We won’t be dining here again.

We stopped in here on our road trip back down to LA from SF. We were hungry and Unilocal directed us over here quickly.
We ordered Moms Potatoes (yummy, bacon filled) and eggs with Corn Beef Hash.
The service was quick, and the food tastes great.
The place itself is easy to find and there’s plenty of parking alongside the side of the restaurant.

I came here to escape the madness and 2 hour wait at bill’s café. Just Unilocaled breakfast place in San Jose and this place popped up so decided to try.
First off, it’s in deep east San Jo and is literally a hole in the wall with a really old run down sign. I almost left but saw there was a small crowd outside and thought maybe it was because the food was good. Got me excited! The place was packed with no a/​c so it was really stuffy inside. But still, they MUST have great food, right? 20 min later we were seated and ordered the chicken fried steak, biscuit with gravy & bacon and a bowl of fruit. As we were waiting for the food I started to notice how all the condiments on the counter (whipped cream, creamer) looked like stuff u would see at the dollar store.
The only thing good was the bacon but c’mon is it even possible to mess up bacon? The gravy was super bland and no amount of salt and pepper could fix it. The cherry on top was the bowl of fruit I ordered. 3 halves of canned peaches for $ 3.55. Barely touched our food but we had a good laugh and will never come back.

I will never EVER come here again or pay for shit service! I am shocked to see that other Unilocalers had such positive experiences, which is why I decided to give this place a try but do not be fooled people! I understand that being in the food business is tiring and stressful at times but when is it okay to treat customers like crap? From what I see from a few other reviews, the staff gives no f*cks about their customers or the way they are treated.
My friends and I ordered country potatoes that were hard like rocks and dried out eggs that must have been sitting for quite awhile because everyone in my group’s food was cold! For the prices they charge, the food is not worth it at all! The restaurant was not even busy and yet we were still an inconvenience to the staff! The waitresses do not even come check if you need anything but will gladly hand over that check to kick you out! Our water glasses were dirty and empty (uhhm can I refill the water myself please?) When I kindly expressed to the waitress (despite the fact that they’re service was awful) that she forgot our toast/​pancakes and that our food was impossible to eat, she rolled her eyes and offered us hash browns! C’mon lady what makes you think I want to wait another 20 min with your shitty attitude or cold flavorless hash browns?
This place seriously needs to get their priorities straight and send those waitresses on a vacation because they are clearly unhappy with their jobs! Eat here at your own risk!

The same old, tired, rude, bitchy blonde waitress is still there. Still circles the tab with a Jabba the Hutt «heart.» Shit service as usual, food still consists of greasy goodness.

Yum yum yum. Come here on a Sunday and you’re practically screwed. Lol. I always come during the weekdays and avoid the wait. I hate how they close at 3 but that’s okay it is a breakfast place!
I’ve had a bunch of stuff on the menu. From burgers. Sandwiches. The New York steak to pancake. I have to say, the pork steak is a must. For $ 10 you get the steak, eggs, hash browns, sausages/​bacon and a biscuit ! It’s a lot of food for a good price. I enjoy having their pancakes here as well.
I would say skip the sandwiches. It’s okay…
Other than that everything is good.

Food: Have been here 2 times and both times the food was just right. The chorizo was amazing and the coffee hit the spot. Prior visit I had Nopales with egg. Amazing.
Waitresses: On both occasions they were both great. They are busy but very pleasant.
Hostess: HORRIBLE. She tells you where to sit and god forbid you not hear her because she will yell at you (first visit). Second visit we had someone unable to make it so our reservation changed from 5 to 4. This apparently was unacceptable and she was very unprofessional & absolutely rude. I understood being taken off the reservation list. However it is unnecessary to yell and become argumentative. Tell me what is going to happen and say it nicely. I can handle it! It was too late to change plans so we stayed.
Get a new hostess.
1^st time I chalked it to a bad day, 2^nd time I know this is just the way it is. I won’t be returning.

Couldn’t figure out what to do on a Saturday morning when I was already up and about at 8:30am so decided to drop in and check this place out. It was pretty busy already, and I didn’t expect it to be that cracking. I mean with the construction and everything I missed it the first time. I can tell that a lot of people here are regulars.
I really wanted to try out their chicken fried steak. I thought it was just okay. I felt that it was too breaded and barely had any meat. Also, it had a weird. sausage taste to it. I wasn’t too fond of that. Their hash browns were good though! Bacon wasn’t so crispy, but they were thick and heavy.
Service was decent for a busy day. Oh, also they have a 45min limit at each table since it gets so busy so be aware that if you’re trying to spend some time and catch up with a friend. this might not be the best place.

Cons:
1. Had to wait for about 30 minutes even before 10am
2. One or two waitress only so the service was slow
Pros:
1. Large portions
2. Fairly priced
3. A good home cooked taste
4. Spicy salsa
5. Unlimited refills on coffee
Bloated from half of a corn beef hash with over medium sunny side up and hash browns with a side of bacon and totaled to be about $ 20. Awesome
