This cemetery is so peaceful and beautiful. Located on 14 acres and partially in both cities, San Gabriel and San Marino. San Gabriel Cemetary was founded in 1872 and serves families of all faiths. My husbands family has had an area here for over 100 years. We stop by when in the area to visit, leave flowers, or sometimes unfortunately, attend a graveside service. The caretakers here are very respectful and go above and beyond to assist families with whatever their needs are. You can stop by the front office and get assistance finding any grave or information about the types of burials they offer. Cremation Burial Lots — Allows for burial of 2 cremated remains. Single and Marker lots — This is perfect for families who want to pay heritage or simply rest in peace together. Options include burial with 2 caskets and 2 cremated remains. Private Garden — This is an area that can be used for traditional burial, but is usually used to build a small mausoleum on. I saw some really gorgeous mausoleums. Nothing like I have ever seen in Las Vegas, where I am from. Cremation Niches — There are 3 different areas. «The Garden Mausoleum» is their oldest public structure. There are only a few niches available here. The«Mountain View Columbarium» is made of carnelian granite and is just over 6 feet tall, so the flower vases are easily accessible. This area is usually very well maintained, but this last visit there was construction material sort of scattered about around it. The«Heritage Mausoleum Niches» are the largest niches offered here. Heritage Mausoleum Crypts — This is the newest addition to the cemetery. It offers single and double casket crypts. There is a residential neighborhood around the cemetery. I could see the tops of pool slides and tree houses from the back wall of one area and could just imagine being a kid growing up there. Do they sneak over the wall at night at play hide and go seek? I would! There are some notable burials here that include, politicians, architects, medical pioneers, mechanical pioneers, jazz pianist and business pioneer, Laura Scudder just to name some. While here don’t be surprised not to see just tall beautiful trees, but avocado and lemon trees too. There is a sign at the front entrance that says no pets are allowed.
