Updated as of yesterday: NEWLOCATION! Renovated new area so the prices have gone up but food selection has increased and gotten better!!! A little short-staffed but every single dish of the 12 – 13 my mom ordered was delicious. Not a single fish disappointed. Uni was so fresh and so sweet: my favorite!!! Minus one star for lack of staff and pricing going up but I would still come back! See photos for foods.

This place no longer exists. They closed; however, they opened their new location at 5561 – 5563 Rosemead Blvd. Temple City, Ca 91780. Place is very dandy, NEW, and you can still smell the fresh new sent of furniture, leather and wood.

Walking into this restaurant, everyone greeted us. Also walking to the table they greeted us. The place looks very clean and modern. Very chic. There are 5 private rooms that sit a lot of people. I ordered the California roll and teriyaki chicken combo dinner plate. The waitress got confused with the rolls of the rest of my table, she didn’t know her menu! They had to call over two other waiters to distinguish the two rolls. Nevertheless, everything was rather tasty, I will be coming back.

Take out rainbow roll($ 10) and a custom vegetarian catapillar roll — avo outside, cucumber, sprouts, carrot inside($ 8) The 4 star is really for being impressed on the execution of a custom order, as you know in SGV its easy for things to get lost in(usually language barrier) communication. Nice work! No communication issues here, I will be back to order more complicated things adherring to my parents picky diets!

Definitely not coming back. One of the most tasteless experience I’ve ever had. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items. I was looking for a quick bite for lunch around the area, and ended up at Icho Izakaya. My brother and I ordered the lunch combo, which you can pick two plates and it also came with a salad and soup. We went with the salmon skin roll and the sashimi(5 pcs) as our two options and ordered the Katsu Don Bowl as extra. The portions were average; one plate can satisfy a person. Miso soup & salad: meeehhh, but they’re free Salmon skin roll: didn’t read correctly, i thought it was a salmon roll. it’s actually fried salmon in the sushi roll. kind of to fried, burnt, and bland for my taste buds. Didn’t like it at all. Sashimi: mediocre, i think it came with salmon(2pcs), tuna(2pcs), and yellowtail(1pc) Katsu Don: omg, was this the most blandest blah dish ever. It came out looking a microwaved dish and tasted like one too ! service: average, waiters and waitresses seemed like they were in a rush to do everything parking: easy, small plaza parking

Shabu shabu here is decent. It comes out with a side of assorted veggies and whatever meat you order. There is also a choice of what broth base you want, ranging from plain to pork bone. The fish here is pretty fresh. I would recommend the chirashi for one person, but definitely share the sashimi dinner. Those that know, you can ask for ice cream after the meal, but it’s honestly not that great. It’s nothing special and it’s suppose to be green tea but tastes kind of bland.

I had a quick lunch here with my pops in between work on Christmas Eve. We shared a combo(well sized, but we both have small stomachs and can share) and got the sashimi and teriyaki beef. The combo comes with a small bowl of miso soup and a small standard salad. We drank the soup right out of the bowl. The sashimi were fat cuts of five pieces of fish. I was so hungry, I didn’t pay attention to which types of fish(sorries), but they gave 3 different kinds, 2 of which I know were salmon and tuna. I very much enjoyed the sashimi. As for the teriyaki beef, it was cooked well and had a good meat to sauce ratio. This came with a bowl of white rice. Also, they give a complimentary bowl of edamame. Those are always fun to eat and healthy!

Great portions, very fresh fish, and I love the free ice cream at the end. Teriyaki meat is solid and good quality.

This is another advertised Japanese, Run by Chinese restaurant. None the less, I do like the Taiwanese options. They have the best pork/spicy tofu I have ever tried.

Hello my Unilocalies, Came here for the first time today, parking was definitely very easy since it is located inside a small plaza. We order 2 Sushi Rolls, the Volcano Roll and the White Dragon Roll. the presentation of their food is definitely on point. I like how the yellowtail on the white dragon roll is extremely fresh and they’re not cheap with their portion. As for the volcano roll, they gave so much crab strings on top of the crispy shirt roll, I do wish they put less sauce on the crab meat because it definitely has too strong of a taste. We also got an appetizer of Takoyaki, it’s the first time I’ve seen any place serves Takoyaki with the sauce on the side, that was actually interesting. I guess it’s a good way if some people don’t like their food soak in sauce. My favorite part of the night definitely would be the free ice cream at the end. I wasn’t going to get an ice cream until they told me it was«Black Sesame». I couldn’t say no to that, that was super delicious. The bill came out to around $ 40 for dinner. Overall, I’ll give the service 5 stars, food 4 stars, décor 4 stars and 4 stars for the atmosphere. I’ll definitely come back again.

I always come here with my boyf family, I’m really not a fan of this place entirely but they like it! This place is Chinese owned, so for people who are looking for authentic Japanese food. yeahhhhhhh Anyways, the sashimi cuts are always big, but they’re not cut properly. I hate eating the sashimi here so much LOL. I usually just stick to the rolls, hot pot, or Chinese food. I can never get past eating one piece of sashimi here. I’m also SUPER scarred from their salmon, everytime I get the salmon there’s always silver skin on it. do you know how that gross it is to eat raw… salmon.skin. Seriously, the sashimi is so gross we always end up boiling it in the hot pot lol Anyways, other than that service is pretty good, only because my boyf’s parents are close with the waitresses so I’m not sure how it is from a regular perspective but we always get whatever we need and super quick!

Came back here not because I wanted to but because my parents wanted to, or else I never would have came. I called them to ask them if there was space in the restaurant before we arrived, but they hung up on me. I guess they don’t really speak English? Because previously I had experienced food poisoning from this restaurant, I decided to get shabu shabu and no sushi whatsoever. That way, I would be able to cook all the meat 100% well done and the veggies too. Ok so first of all, I wouldn’t recommend the miso soup broth soup base but I didn’t wanna get the plain either and this was the second cheapest. The pork bone soup base sounds a lot better but it’s $ 6.25 extra. Don’t think a soup base should cost that much anywhere. But anyway, the size is decent and it comes with a LOT of veggies. I was pretty happy about that, and yeah I enjoyed my meal this time! The service was alright and everything but then… After I returned home for a while, I started to feel this indescribable pain in my stomach, like some parasite was biting on the walls of my stomach or something. And terrible cramps and my stomach was in so much pain. Yeah I had food poisoning once again, reported it to my parents, and we will not be coming back again. I think it’s the plates that aren’t clean and maybe the sauces or something. Because I made extra sure I used different chopsticks to pick up the raw meat/veggies, and made sure they were completely well done and even overcooked it. So there really has to be a problem here if they still manage to give me food poisoning.

I’ve always seen this driving down Las Tunas, but I’ve never actually tried it, until today! So good! Rainbow Roll($ 14.95) Fish is surprisingly super fresh. The roll is a nice size and plenty to share with the table. Tiger Roll($ 13.95) This is a smaller roll but the Shrimp Tempura is pretty damn good. I love the end pieces! I dare someone to try and snatch it away from me. I actually got to try some of the Shabu from some of my friends, and the meat is so tender. I’m so getting that next time, and yes, there will be a next time, very very soon.

Just came back from eating dinner here today. It’s a Monday night, we went around 9pm and there were still a lot of people in the restaurant. It was mostly an older crowd, all Chinese, drinking the night away & being super loud. It was so loud that it was actually hard to have a conversation with my boyfriend and he was literally sitting right next to me at the shabu bar. I felt like I was screaming and I even told him to sit closer so I can hear him. This time I didn’t get Japanese food, I got the shabu shabu! I was craving it & wanted to see if it was any good here. I got the vegetarian plate which was $ 10 and the spicy miso soup base which was around $ 4. For my pricing I’m rounding up, just to let you guys know. $ 10 is cheap for a vegetarian plate but I didn’t get an EXTRA plate of veggies that you usually get when you order meat. It was the perfect size for me though, and for the price it was really good. The meats are a bit more expensive of course. Makes me sad that they charge for soup base, but the spicy miso wasn’t bad! It wasn’t that spicy so I had to add even more spicy(I can eat spicy for days and days). It really just tastes like regular miso soup with some chili oil in it. It was tasty & I would get it again! They have both satay and ponzu/sesame sauce for you to choose from. My boyfriend hates satay & loves ponzu, while I prefer satay a little bit over ponzu, so it’s so hard to find a place that actually has both! I only know this restaurant and souper shabu have both sauces. My boyfriend got the chirashi bowl; he said it was fresh and delicious. The bowl is pretty big and he couldn’t even finish it. He also got some small oysters. He said the taste was delicious but he’s had bigger oysters at other restaurants that taste the same. It’s around $ 3.50 for one small oyster. The workers here are really nice and friendly. The waiter actually talked to us and tried to convince us to eat the rest of our food, but we were so full. He looked surprised that we ate so little, he’s like, «no you must eat more.» My boyfriend said he was trying to lose weight, and the waiter was like, «no way I need to lose weight.» He was like some scrawny Asian guy that didn’t even need to lose a single pound lol he was super nice.

This is a strip mall Japanese restaurant in SGV. Though it’s mostly Japanese, they also have a small Taiwanese/Chinese menu that offers non-Japanese dishes. Therefore, it has something for everyone! The sushi quality is pretty good. I was quite surprised as I never would have thought such a place in such a location would have good quality fish. The quality is even better than some sushi joints in Little Tokyo! And the prices aren’t bad. FYI, if you order sashimi a la carte, the prices are per piece! But the cut is pretty thick and large! They also have your typical japanese fare: teriyaki, katsu, shabu shabu, udon, etc. All are pretty good! The Taiwanese/Chinese menu also has some great items as well! The three-cup chicken is one of my faves! Service: They get pretty busy on the weekend, so don’t expect super attentive service. But once you get their attention, they respond quite quickly! Parking: Small lot for the strip mall and free street parking.

A Japanese restaurant with a Chinese flair? What does that mean to you, the foodie? Well, I ordered the chirashi as I always like to do(that or soba) and the fish slices were cut so FAT and… generous? I just wasn’t use to such a thick cut. Wouldn’t call it traditional. However it tasted pretty fresh. I wouldn’t say this restaurant is cheap, the chirashi ran around $ 18? And the fried tempura and teriyaki chicken were good, but again, not the most authentic tasting.
