I have been going to Kenny for years. He is always up to date with the newest styles and trends. I’ve always been very happy with his service. The place is fully equipped to give you the right style every time. Anyone who gets a cut from here will not be disappointed.

I currently live in NYC, but when I visit my family in CA every 6 months, I always make an appointment to get my haircut by Kenny. He is an incredibly kind and warm professional. I have been coming to his salon for the past 10 years, and his consistency over the years has been remarkable. My hair is so thick and heavy, and Kenny is the only one who has had the patience to cut my layers perfectly.

I have been coming to Kenny for 10 years since I was 13. His haircut changed me from a regular schmuck to the studmuffin I am today.
This place is for people who actually care about how they look rather than settling for a Supercuts generic buzz.

My first haircut by Kenny was 4 yrs ago. He was highly recoommend by a friend. He is the best stylist anyone could ask for! My teenage daughter will not let anyone else cut her hair except Kenny. He really knows what hairstyle work for us. His price is not cheap but his cuts last for couple months without going out of style… Thats my definition of a good stylist. He only works with appointments and almost no walk in. Be sure to make an appointment before you show up.

I love Kenny and will never go to another stylist again (or at least I hope I never have to!). My cousin, sister and I have been going to him for years.
Kenny always does a great job and more importantly, I trust him. I try my best to describe what I want and follow up with, «Just make it look good,» and he always does. He’s really good at knowing what looks good on each individual and tailoring a cut or style to you.
He’s super friendly and always asks how my family is doing. He even lowered his prices due to the economic hard times. He recognized that his customers were having a tough time too. I think female wash/​cuts are around $ 45 – 55 (You save $ 2 if you pay with cash) and guy cuts are less expensive than that.
I think he’s closed on Sunday and Mondays. One time when I was in desperate need of a cut, he offered to come in Sunday morning. I declined since I know that’s his family time but I appreciate that he offered.
His salon is a free standing building on Valley. There’s a parking lot in the back or you can park on the street so parking is very easy. Kenny is the owner and only stylist there so it would probably be best to make an appointment or at least call in advance. The salon is really clean and nice.

I have been to Cocohead for over 10 years and I love it. I have never ever had a place cut my hair perfectly the way I want it every time and make it look great for all these years. Kenny has been super friendly and the place has a great atmosphere.

Typically I hate getting haircuts only because they never come out the way I want or it just simply doesn’t look as nice after you wash it (of course thats a given but usually it looks hideous). However, the way Kenny cuts my hair he really takes his time in doing what is best for my hair. One of the first things he does before he shampoo and cuts your hair is that he sits you down and looks at your hair to see the texture, thickness, and all of that hair stuff. He’ll ask you what you want and he will give you his own suggestions based on your hair. I just got my hair cut two days ago and I told him what I wanted and he gave me a suggestion and told me why he thinks its better. Of course he would be right because well he knows hair more then I do. After the cut and style, I always leave happy and I stay happy after the wash. He just recently lowered his prices from I believe $ 52 to $ 45 so that is pretty cool. For a good haircut, it’s 100% worth it. I believe he lowered the prices on everything.
I totally recommend him.

The original Cocohead Hair Studio at 288 W. Valley Blvd in Alhambra has moved to a smaller location. The owner Kenny used to have several stations where he would either employ other hair stylists or rent out the chairs.
The new Cocohead is in a small free standing building.
With naturally curly hair and a kinky texture, my hair isn’t the easiest to manage. My siblings used to call me Mufasa, the Lion King’s dad.
I pretty much had bad hair day daily from the age of 12 until I had my first Japanese magic perm, also known as the thermal straightening. Kenny has done the perm before at a cost of $ 275. With thermal straightening, a thick creamy chemical solution is applied to the hair with a comb, breaking the disulfide bonds in the hair.

No heat is applied and the solution is left on for approximately 30 minutes. It is then washed out, the hair is slightly dried with a hair dryer. The most tedious part is next. With a flat iron, the stylist will go over each section of hair to make the hair straight. This can take up to 3 – 4 hours depending on the length and volume of hair. After this is done, a cream neutralizer is applied to close the disulfide bond.

But I have had better jobs (good grief, I hope he never finds this) at other places so I tend to visit him for a $ 60 hair cut. $ 52 for the cut and I tip the lady that washes my hair $ 3 and he gets $ 5.
Kenny has fixed so many bad haircuts of mine. I don’t know why I kept trying new places thinking I’ll get the perfect wash and go cut, like some other stylist has the miracle to make my hair tame. Because ultimately, it’s not his cut, it’s the texture of my hair. He’s come to know my hair over the years and he’s straightforward with what works and what doesn’t. I won’t stray anymore.
